stoned off his ass from the looks of it. Probably one of the last tours before they dropped the tuning of the song.
Daniel Smith, I don't think they dropped the tuning on this one. American Girl yes. Refugee they did for a while but recently went back to original tuning. Probably stoned off his ass. Probably on harder drugs. He was self medicating at the time after a terrible divorce.
How could he perform so perfectly if that was the case? The point is he is fantastic and not a relevant comment.
