- Опубликовано: 5 июл 2023
- In Bricks 1.8 we got a new nav menu builder, with tons more flexibility to build any kind of menu you like, including mobile menu, multilevel menus, and mega menus.
But if you thought the old Nav Menu element had had its day.... you'd be wrong!
It's still here, it's also got some sweet new features, and in many situations the OLD way could be better than the shiny new way.
After this video, I give you 5 good reasons when to use the OLD nav menu builder vs the shiny new one.

Jeez, 2 Bricks videos in and you're already the best Bricks content creator on the platform. Well done, sir!
Ha haaaa! Not sure about that, but it’s very kind of you to say, my friend. 🙏🏼
3 years away from RUclips, and then hes back. and with a BANG! Welcome back Dave - looking forward to enjoy your content.
If your a WP builder, Dave's the man.
It's good to be back! Thanks man.
Cracking vid Dave... Clear, concise and eloquently delivered. Well done mate
Aww thanks mate! Pleased you liked it, and nice of you to say so. 😁
You're a tutorial master. Bricks should bring you on as their official "Bricks Evangelist". I think that would be the best brand building move they could make, real talk.
You liked it then? 😉 That means a lot, thank you!
how can I just found this great channel now? I missed so many cool lesson

You're welcome for the Matrioshka, Dave! Or should I say... Pozhaluysta 😆
If you say so. 😂
It’s a gift I’ll always treasure.
Love your videos.
Really glad you like them. I miss RUclips.
Dave's a teaching Rock Star and a big part of my website development success. I can't wait to watch your videos; keep 'em coming!
Awesome! Thanks Tor!
Why do I think that you created this video just as an excuse to eat cake? Thanks, Dave. Great content as always.
Here’s a secret: I’m gluten intolerant so it wasn’t even real cake. 😭
@@DaveFoy ok, that was a plot tuist and you should said "spoiler alert".
Thank you. Great style
Glad you liked.
Great content as always Dave, glad to see you back on RUclips. It's useful to know that we have the choice of older or newer nav menus in Bricks, plus when and why to use either.
Yep, I don't think the Bricks team made as big a deal of this as they should.
Thanks for doing these videos, Dave. You explain things in such great way and make it so even a non-designer such as myself can follow.
My pleasure, brother.

(Also, sorry about a weird audio thing going on at some points in this video. I only realised later... but you can't re-upload RUclips videos).
Great stuff, Dave. You not only make learning Bricks accessible, you make it fun. Kudos!
That’s exactly what I aim to do. Delighted to hear that.
Brilliant video. You are such a good teacher… a real talent for it
Huge thanks! That means a lot. 🙏
Nice one Dave-interesting comparison. Looks like your video skillz have gone up a level too!
Thank you. 🙏🏼 I’ve made 100s of videos in the 3 years I’ve been away from RUclips, so I’ve had a lot of practice. Just all in paid courses. :)
Nice work, Dave! Also, very nice touch with your interactions for the content as you're discussing it. I know how much extra planning and editing that takes to pull it off and make it look good, and you nailed it! That definitely helps elevate the showmanship of your lessons compared to simple screensharing of the process. 👍
This is very much appreciated, Craig. Teaching’s not just showing someone how to do something, it’s gotta be engaging as well. I try. :)
Another great video Dave, am glad your back on RUclips👍
Thanks 👍
Loving these new videos!
Really glad you like them. Am gearing up for many more.
Great explanation! Bricks has made this pretty convoluted, though. But on the flip side, it gives you a lot of flexibility to create menus.
Yeah, it does seem pretty convoluted, at least at first. I imagine the conversation going something like this:
Bricks users: We want a menu builder that's as flexible as possible.
Bricks devs: Sure thing, here you go.
Bricks users: No, no that flexible. 😆
Thanks!
No problem!
Congratulations Dave! Very good video, I just subscribed to your channel! Please keep talking about Bricks builder!
Brilliant. Thanks Daniel!
Your new thumbnail designs are much better ✨🌟
Great tut Dave!
Thank you!
Great video (as usual).
Glad you enjoyed it, Kevin. 👍🏼
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it, Albert.
Awesome sauce
😋
This is a Trance video 🙂
Starting by 04:14h there is mirroring sound in the background when the screen is shared. This makes listening very hard. Mainly when watching this video with good earphones, it puts you in a trance, because the brain tries to follow both voices at the same time. As this background noice is not a dedicated channel in the recording, it can not be removed. Just the video should have been recorded from that point from scratch.
And secondly the explanation of why using old and new navigation elements in BricksBuilder is very highlevel and more general, not in detail. It is a nice video to get a first explaining, if you want/should use old vs new, but not realy more.
Oh my! I hadn't heard that even during editing. And I've made literally 1000s of tutorial videos over the years! I can see why this mistake happened now too.
Urgh. Sorry about that. Shame RUclips doesn't allow replacing a video.
And yes, this video is meant to be high level , that's the point. Thanks @joachimauster.

Ironic seems to be your best option…
Anyone got a discount for the unlimited websites package? 😁
I think menu builder is brainfart from devs. They should stick with WP ecosystem instead of building something on top of it.
Yeah it's not had a brilliant response from the community. I see where they're coming from, giving us ultimate control over every aspect of the menu. But I'm still finding the original Nav Menu most useful practically.
