Since you asked about references, Fiddlesticks is not only a fantastic skin but also heavy inspired by Madoka Magica with it’s shifting realms, checkboard patterns and the theme of monsters being corrupted magical girls and brought the shift into darker themes in the magical girl genre.
Yeah, they totally fit the twisted and creepy world of. Madoka Magica What a fine anime it is.

As a wild rift player I gotta say star guardian orianna is so good, she looks fantastic, she gets new animations, tocker is adorable as all hell and her backstory being reversed with her turning from robot to a human is fun. The only problem is her voice isn't changed WE WERE SO CLOSE

I would say the default voice is good it just need a little tweak since from the latest vlog, ori still has her robotic voice but they make it a robotic cute voice

My main issue with the Ekko skin is the same one I had with Ezreal's: it feels like bc they are guys, they aren't given the same over the top sparkle and ornate designs the female characters get. Like, I feel like they could have gone further with their designs besides pants an jacker with some color stripe. Magical girl aesthetic is very busy with all the frills, bows, decals and jewlery and next to the otehr skins they just look too boring and bland, like an afterthought sb designed in few min(even tho I know it def took way longer)

on another note, the skinline name in polish is "Strażniczki Gwiazd" which literally means Star Guardians, but the guardian is a female gendered word, so it makes ekko even more out of place

My best thought for making patroon better would mean more work for you, but maybe release exclusive videos? Like your normal videos then take the bloopers+ Other outtakes and make a separate video on patreon. You could even afford to be even more opinionated on patreon if you wanted. Idk other than that.
Love the video. First thing that comes to mind about the patreon is giving people sneak peaks at new videos, maybe host events for patreons exclusively and/or create requested artwork if you want. I don't have a lot of other ideas.

Personally I agree with having Evelynn instead of Morgana, you could do so much with her passive and effects. My prediction of them chosing Morgana over Evelynn was either 1 of 2 reasons. 1. Morgana is a more accessible champ being a support/midlaner and those roles are more popular than jungle, 2. Coven Eve didn't sell as well as Riot liked so they put Eve in the time out corner
I think that they want to give us Star Nemesis Eve legendary and it would be too soon because she just had one and there are already 2 K/DA members legendaries in 1 event. So maybe, hopefully, in 2-3 years? And also I think that Coven Evelynn sold well, because every Eve-main bought it, if you love her you just can not avoid buying it, it's so perfect.
I may be biased, but I also really hope Evelynn gets a star nemesis skin in the future. She fits the thematic and I have seen some excellent fan concepts of what she could look like.
(Riot also designed a spider familiar for Morg, so I’m kind of hoping Elise will join the fold too. But I know that’s less likely to happen.)

I'mma raise you Star Nemesis LeBlanc. There's already lore between her and Rell, having her become the illusionary sexy evil teacher in disguise is far more up her alley than Morg (who thematically should be balanced with Kayle... or are we somehow saying SG is equivalent to Pentakill? Also Morg isn't a villain, and penning her in that trope is almost as egregious as what Ruination did to Rengar... "You think my magic evil... Shadow is not as dark as one might think..." so many more lines about being an antihero...)
EDIT Okay, so it's confirmed Fiddle and Ashlesh are demonic star entities in the SG universe, here's hoping for SN LeBlanc and SN Swain getting a romcom with Raum, and eventually facing off against the other fallen, feathered duo. Or that just might be my inner fangirl talking, mostly because Rakan and Swain have the same eyebrows.

One thing: prestige skins no longer represent the same character later on. Prestige Syndra isn't "evil SG Syndra". It is "alternate universe Syndra uses the SG aesthetic to go to a gala"
And I hate that honestly. I understand no one liked the golden chromas, but they look so much better than what we're getting now... These REALLY don't feel prestige or worth my time getting.

I honestly really like Star Guardian Quinn a lot even though I haven't played League in years but I am huge sucker for the masked hero archetype. Which I think was something Star Guardian was missing since it started to become popular.
Yeah quinn could have been a really cool and important character for the narrative, with a nice relation with her familiar

As a Madoka Magica fan, I'm glad Nilah is in there and hope she'll get developped more. (Spoilers down below for Madoka)
(Sidenote: love that Saint Seiya aesthetic on SG Rell)
Basically, Madoka is about unsuspecting young girls abandonning everything to become heroes and/or fight evil and/or save their lives by giving up their soul to an alien creature in exchange for a single wish, resulting at best in their death and at worst in their transformation into witches, horrifying and deadly creatures that other unsuspecting magical girls, who think witches are just monsters, hunt down in order to have an opportunity to basically cleanse the gem that grants them power. If they don't, it's witchin' time.
So Nilah, who is a young woman who abandonned everything to become a hero fighting evil and has to perform rites to keep control over the demon inside her jar and apparently gave up her soul to the demon once she's dead pretty much fits the universe of Madoka and its central theme of the cost of one wish.
Plus Fiddlesticks is basically a Madoka Witch but that's not the matter at hand.

For me, I care very little about the actual star guardian skins and am far more interested in the lore of the star guardian universe. Appreciate you pulling an all nighter to get the video out!
Same cause first two waves of SG's had so much personality in them even silly pyjama skins were tied to lore and then the 3rd wave with the BEST SG skins represented by Rakan and Xayah which had such a tragic backstory and after 3 years and all that build up we re just abandoning OG teams and switching our interest towards our new poster girl Kaisa

I'm honestly so mad that they have the best skins (and storyline) on Wild rift only. The event would have been so much interesting if the new sg where trying to save Rakan (they could've put Akali in there too). It just suck that Rakan and Xayah are being so forgotten in PC just because their play-rate is low.
And yes I'm a little bit biased because I main Rakan, Seraphine and Senna but that's not the point. They would've been better than Rell and Nilah.

I started playing Wild Rift recently and I agree with WR having the better event. Xayah's storyline is so much better than Kaisa's on PC, its a shame we didn't at least get a redeemed Xayah and Rakan chroma on PC.

The Fiddlesticks skin was honestly worth the wait, I have actually been using it non-stop since it dropped, and just... Everything about it is perfect. It dethroned Arcana Kench as my favorite skin in the game, honestly.
I like how Riot NAILED Spirit Blossom because they had the time and resources before the Varus hit and were like "oh wow ok the event was good you earn a pat in the back everyone", and then did a doodoo visual novel with The Ruination because their efforts were all over the place and for some god awful reason took the feedback as "ok no more investment in events anymore" and now that they finally get the chance to do it again it ends up in this awkward middle ground where it's just as good as SB but just as disappointing as TR and it's just so sad to see all the missed potential
Aside from Eve, Elise would also be perfect for a star nemesis skin. She fits that ara ara evil witch type and she's half monster too.
I actually do like magical girls. They are have a lot of fun aesthetics that I enjoy and who doesn't want to kick evil space butt while wearing a pretty puffy pink dress.
i'm a big fan of the star guardian aesthetic and generally like the skins. The event itself has been kind of weak with most of the more interesting things going on in wild rift. It's all been fairly underwhelming on the PC side. We haven't even really gotten a cinematic for the PC story but there's been a comic and like 3 for wild rift. The visual novel being split over 4 weeks is obnoxious especially cause it starts out so slow. Ultimate spellbook is weak, the pass grind is too much when there's 2 prestige skins. These events should be so much better, Riot makes too much money for this to be it. Im sure Rell and Quinn will show up in chapter 3 of the story but man it just feels like they got shoved in there as an afterthought which bums me out. The downloadable arts is cool though, i guess lulu, Raka and Jinx went on a 3rd story and saved XXXX which would have been cool to see. Idk 8/10 for the skins and maybe 3/10 for everything else.

Just wanted to (respectfully) correct on the Syndra one: I haven't seen the VN yet because I stopped playing League (I will probably go watch on RUclips eventually anyways so yeah) but, for what I've seen on Twitter, Syndra isn't/hasn't turned evil. Apparently she just "teamed up" with Zoe to fight Fiddlesticks in order to see Harp again (Harp is the human form of Star Nemesis Fiddlesticks before he went crazy and turned into a monster), since Harp, Zoe and herself, along with Gwen and Akshan (yes, you got that right. Akshan.) were part of the original SG team.
Someone who has actually seen that part of the Visual Novel can correct what I got wrong in this, and expand on this explanation, but, yeah. SG Syndra isn't evil.
So this fiddlesticks in sg in just his old Institute of war lore where a summoner who wanted power locked himself away in a chamber and then fiddlestick became a champ who forced the rule of the summeners and also killed or drove mad anyone who went to his chamber.
@@zileantimekeeper7464 not really. The concept is that star guardians are meant to burn out. Harp shined the brightest and was one of the strongest star guardians, only to lose themselves and become fiddlesticks. Zoe and Syndra asked the star guardians to help them put an end to it.

tbf, riot did warn us they weren't going to make any more pve gamemodes because "they dont have enough engagement". honestly i was hoping that they wouldn't follow through with that threat, and take it back. but alas rito was not so kind
I seriously don't get why some people are obsessed with this line, especially the new ones. I would say the only good new ones are the star nemesis ones
I really like them because as a mahou shoujo fan, they do a really great job taking inspiration from a lot of series that I love and creating their own with characters I love. Though Evelynn or Bel'veth may fit closer to fiddlesticks, Morgana's theme is referencing more than just sexy teacher in disguise - she takes inspiration from Queen Beryl, who was a part of the moon queen's court in sailor moon that fell from grace(fitting the fallen angel theme of Morgana into Sailor Moon). Along with this, I didn't read Syndra as evil as much as I read she's a survivor of a terrible situation that's still to nostalgic to take down who used to be her closest friend. Also, Nilah isn't supposed to just be an elder, but an outer star guardian - reference to the outer senshi of sailor moon, specifically Sailor Pluto, who's existed for a long time but in solitude as she guards time. I will say, I think this doesn't necessarily fit as well because though Nilah guards ashlesh, it's different from guarding time as a whole. Still, a neat reference.
My disappointment in Ekko is mainly just because it feels like the male characters don't get as much thought as the females do. Ezreal felt lazy, and so did Ekko. Also, the color scheme of Ekko feels just slightly off.
I do also want to note that even though they weren't explored, a skin that feels like one of the most intricately thought out skins and perfect for it is Star Guardian Orianna. She's basically a singular character reference to Princess Tutu Duck, a mahou shoujo based on swan lake that requires a true love situation that is impossible because of a curse to lack emotion. Orianna's Pinocchio theme fits so well with that and I can't praise it enough
I loved the part where Star Guardian Steve used the power of friendship and totally Star Guarded all over Morgana and Fiddlesticks.

On one hand this event was clearly designed to milk cash out of the playerbase with $10 skins for popular champions and $30 recolors of popular skins for popular champions. All this without any meaningful additional content beyond skins makes the event feel unbelievably lame.
On the other hand: STAR GUARDIAN QUINN, STAR GUARDIAN SONA AFTER THE SONA MAINS ASKED FOR IT FOR 8 YEARS, AND FINALLY A SKIN FOR MY SWEET BABY GIRL RELLLLLLLL!!!! I have to admit that they picked an A+ champion roster and (much like always with Star Guardians) the skins look great for those who like the aesthetic.
As a rell main we finally got a semi decent skin...

rell main here and I gotta admit, I'm extremely excited for SG Rell. The skin isn't optimal, the SG universe wouldn't be my first choice for Rell, or second, or third, well probably not even my fourth. However for what it is it is a good choice for her.
I love the content she gets, that she can be a part of a big event, receive chromas, borders and icons, gets shown in the story (even if she's only a side character). I prefer this over a "in between patches" filler skin like infernal or blackfrost.
I love the clashing thematics of "angry bisexual girl in glitter costume" and like valor I love how her horse is also her Familiar.
Personally I'm so starved of Rell content, I would have bought anything Riot presented me, but I'm glad that I'm going to buy a star guardian skin.
It's probably the best outcome for Rell (After High Noon, Pentakill or Resistance).
Her bio states that Rell is a teen delinquent who is a closet enjoyer of manga which… honestly feels on point
As someone who adores the star guardian line and gets the references to Magical Girl animes like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor, Madoka Magica, Tokyo Mew Mew, etc, that this line is solely based on, I think, at least speaking personally, one of the reasons people don't care for base SG Ekko that much is his aesthetics feel more shonen inspired than shoujo. In non-anime fan speak: The star guardian line is based on tropes of girl-centered and marketed anime aesthetics such as cute/pretty boys/men and gorgeous girls/women, this is shoujo style (like Sailor Moon, for example, who draws even it's male characters very beautiful) but SG Ekko looks more "cool" than pretty and uses a gadget like familiar as his companion, this is more of the aesthetic of something like a boy-centered/marketed anime like, say, Digimon, Beyblade, etc. It's kinda like how you can tell Battle Academia and SG are both anime inspired but are two very different fantasies. I know personally this is why I prefer his prestige version of SG over the base one - it gives him a more fantastical/cutesy wardrobe, draws him more as a pretty boy, and makes it look like he could be one of the love interests of the main characters (not that he IS one, but that's the aesthetics of shoujo). For lack of better explanation, he looks like he is Ezreal's Successor in the prestige version and less like someone from the Battle Academia universe with star partical effects around him as in the base version.
I like SG Rell. Its nice to see representation on the princess knight troupe in the magical girl group. I do agree that she is way too similar to Battle Queen Rell in aesthetics but i think overall it helps add texture to the skin line.
Im so glad somebody mentioned bel'veth being great in this skin line esp more than Morgana. Bel'veth disguised as a human teacher while showing off to be this evil monster really would have worked better in this than battle boss. Who knows maybe her and Evelyn will get one next year got to make sure all of KDA is in the skin line.

The hate for SG Ekko started back on the old version of it where his outfit was mostly white. Its still not great but they have improved it, and I still think they should have given him purple or teal for his guardian color, orange just doesn't look good on him.
Sona looks so cute, I think she's my favourite. It's nice that she keeps her glasses cause the magic transformation also gives out contacts
My only complaint is that she keeps abusing her mouse over mistranslation.

Tbh the only thing i was excited bout the event is: i was hoping that they'd bring pve back bc it was smth i never got to experience (i started playing league on pre season 8) and everyone talked so many good things about it. The event missions are so uncreative, i go to college and do drawing commissions, i cant play 30 hours a month to unlock an orb with skins of champions i dont even play.
Most of the skins are pretty and they are appealing to the public they're supposed to be appealing to.

i do like some of the star guardians 2nd batch > 1st batch personally but i wish they at least tried to differentiate the outfits more like i like quinn rell taliyah lux jinx akali and all of the wr skins because they have a different look but damn kaisa looks a little boring too much like gen 2 they’re missing some individuality like i guess its more of a sailor moon thing me personally i prefer the madoka references and i like how madoka’s outfits looked different from each other so wish they did something unique

I like the cute extra animations on the Akali skin. They didn't need to change up her animation for when she stops moving, but they did. Although, I'm just glad Quinn got to be involved in the skin line.
I truly love the Prestige for Ekko, it is just really my vibe with the colors and the sword... in my opinion its at the same level as his true damage skin

Tbh Star nemesis morgana looks to me like Dark Stars more colorful cousin but I do find the effects way more pleasing.
Still a shame they didn't give Evelynn this spot. Although Morgana's base voicelines might suit the role better Evelynn definitely suits the design better
As for Syndra I think the best approach would've been to make the fresnel layer (color around the lil ball babies) yellow/orangy, the body itself pitch black and then finish the job with the glowy star eyes and cute face also being goldish yellow. Giving it a black hole look that would still show off that it's prestige but also show that it's an evil skin.
I still find these skins quite nice though. I'm sure there are better ways to improve them.

Rell is kinda under rated here I love her Saint Seiya crown thing, she's like a badass pegasus knight, it's like if her Battle Queens skin wasn't bad.
I felt like these skins were a little uninspired. I still watch anime and love the Sailor Moon Universe.

The introduction of Fiddlesticks as Star Nemesis opens up a lot of possibilities for more champions, that's true.
What sold me these skins was the development inside the visual novel, and basically got me in tears because of the truth of what happened to the previous star guardians.

My thoughts: I am infinity more interested in the wild rift event, but I'm a pc player so....
I liked the first 2 waves of starguardians, being Lux and her team. Basically I think the starguardian aesthetic is pretty limited, because they are SUPPOSED to look the same, it's big part of the deal. All skins that took liberties on the design stick out like to me even when they are a breath of fresh air design wise. Basically I think Starguardian is long past it's expiration date.
Futhermore Starguardians as a whole just showcases how detrimental the skin system is to the stories league wants to tell with these skin lines, like every wave you basically have a new protagonist having to get into the action (except wave 2 being Lux's team, because it is one of the few additions to a skinline that actually improved it instead of further oversaturating it). Basically no story is ever gonna be continued properly because the focus will be new champs.
I kinda just hate riot's "skinline" approach, a skin isn't designed with the question "what fits the champion?" (Omega Squad Teemo/ Final Boss Veigar are the best examples of this, making them some of my fav skins ever), but "what champion can be added to this popular skinline?".
I actually think the one-off skin ideas are pretty much the best skins we ever got and having a line is fine as long as it isn't kept alive for longer than it should be and doesn't get champs forced in that simply don't fit.
This is what I think too about one off skins. Personally like Ashen Knight Pyke should be a one off no matter how many people liked it cause it's bound to end in all these male champs with the same ashy color and the same ashy wings in all their recalls 💀 it would be worse than Star guardians cause there it's at least like 5-6 diff colors for each champ. They should make these mythic skins a one off where it fits a specific champ perfectly (if they don't wanna do that shit anymore with legendaries like Dawnbringer Soraka, Spirit blossom Ahri, and Dragon Yasuo)
So I really like the star nemeses because it opens up a really cool idea. Start Guardian Kayn where he has two narrative paths where shadow assassin remains a guardian and Rhaast becomes a star nemesis. I think that is genuinely the coolest thing they could do with Kayn

As an ekko main when i found out he's getting a star guardian skin i was really not happy. I bought it with the pass just because i want to own all ekko skins and to my surprise, it's surprisingly well done. It's still not a champion who should be in this skinline of course but his abilities look nice, hair is pretty interesting. Still- The prestige outclasses it. Haircut outfit color scheme I am actually satisfied with the prestige skin, although i wish it was from a different skinline like battle academia. Still better than Diana or Volibear where the normal skin is much better than the prestige
as a fiddle main who doesn't watch anime, i am content with finally getting a skin that is cool and not all pink and anime-like

Skins are kind of supposed to change their normal behavior or looks. Like odyssey Kha’zix or sentinel rengar. They just cant change the voicelines all the time. Also every skin comes with its unique lore nowadays and while it usually still follows main lore, it can stray from it. Like morg here.
@@phoenixflamegames1 agree, but most of the time when skins count part of the original lore, some interesting ideas tend to appear, or some good mapping of concepts.
A recent example could be spirit blossom (can't remember too well, was on hiatus when they released) where they manage to map lore elements from champs into ionian myths or something like that in an interesting way (ignoring the sexy anime guy/gal syndrome, it was still kinda cool imo)
On top of that Morgana could have been so interesting as a SG because despite her good goals she doesn't seem as friendly as most star guardians. As gorgeous as the skin looks, having her as a villain seems like a missed opportunity and an injustice to her character, so I have mixed feelings about it.
prestige syndra isn't supposed to be her evil form, it's something entirely different not connected to the star guardian universe like prestige senna, talon and seraphine

@@HeresTonez All prestige Skins are named after their Skin Lines. It's supposed be a "What if [INSERT CHAMPION HERE] was invited to the Met Gala and [INSERT SKINLINE HERE] was the theme?" They started doing this because Senna's True Damage prestige (Which was designed by someone who works with *_Louis Vuitton_* to make actually clothes) was one of their most popular prestiges and thought:
_"Yeah, we, the game developers with no fashion knowledge, can copy what an veteran in the fashion industry did, this is a good idea!"_
It's such a boneheaded pivot since, they, you know, have no concept of high fashion and aren't in the the industry, making their efforts thus far tacky and a hot mess.

The existence of star nemesis means riot are now legally obligated to make Urgot the first champion to have 2 star guardian skins.
There could of been so many better options, I would trade out Ekko, Nilah and Rell for like Aphelios, Sett and Annie or something, the latter options just sound a lot more interesting. We do be loving taliyah tho. But I especially hate Nilah, her kit her design and the skin, i played against her once and i havent allowed her through since
Morgana is incredible, I'm honestly surprised she was only an 8. The rainbow contrast with the rest of the dark pallette places it at a 9 for me

Literally might play Taliya just for the hinted transness of her. I've always loved rock benders because I like the aesthetic of mages and the aesthetic of strength, so a rock weaver fits that perfectly. The fact that she's a cool person and has a trans alternative reality self (or in general if I headcannon hard enough) is just enough to push my love for her over the edge enough for me to learn her.
skins themselves aside (though i do love them, really happy with this batch), as a trans person I am absolutely overjoyed at all the little hints and teases about Taliyah being a trans girl in this universe. the blue, pink and white colours all over the session video, the “I feel more like myself in the outfit” line. I’m really hoping trans Taliyah will be confirmed for pride 2023, but until then I’m super happy with the little things sg 2022 has given us

For me, Star Guardian lore has been well written, the splash art are (usually) well drawn, and I like playing Akali. Also staying true to the themes of mahou shojo is nice. That’s about it, my reasons are pretty standard
Sona for me is the best. Her color stands out. The rest are literally like Pink and Purple looking Star Guardians (Kaisa, Akali, Rell, Nilah, Quinn, and Taliyah) not even a yellow star guardian was made.

i liked most of the new skins, but star guardian is just. really boring to me. because most of the characters' outfits look very, very similar (e.g. ahri/mf/lux/kai'sa, sona/soraka). i know that it's meant to be based on magical girl anime, but those shows always managed to make each character look unique and recognizable, whereas star guardian is just repetitive. i do wish that they'd make some more unique design choices when creating these skins. i think skins like rakan, ezreal, ekko, fiddlesticks, morgana, akali, etc really stand out not necessarily because they're good (though most of them are) but because they challenge the skinline by looking very different from what one would expect from a typical magical girl anime.
i also feel like some of the character choices could've been better....'best friends forever' and frilly pink dresses don't really feel like kai'sa things, even if she's meant to be younger in the skin, lol
i wouldve honestly waited a few months more for a good rell skin that fits her
she just feels so out of place in the SG universe
as someone who hyperfixated on sailormoon, most villians in the series are these super evil aliens trying to destroy the sailor guardians (bc sailor moon herself is actually a queen but whatever not important), and they integrate themselves into the lives of the sailor guardians by posing as people in their everyday lives (teachers, shopkeeps, etc) so morgana being a teacher but also this powerful villian is a pretty good nod to sailor moon villians :)
sailor moon villians also tend to make one of the sailor guardians "fall" or begin to distrust their friends similar to how Akali did in the event. i think that's why i like morgana here lol that isnt to say literally any other champ could have taken her place, and honestly i saw someone say leblanc would be a great fit and i completely agree considering she's literally a master of deception
ok i know this is already few months old and you might have already known this, but prestige syndra isn't evil syndra (and wow i didn't know syndra becomes a villain or something). they are experimenting on their new version of prestige skins, with high fashion version of the specific skinline (so like a star guardian inspired high fashion attire)

I started playing Taliyah because of the sessions thing. The cute art style and animation made me fall in love with her, and TB Skyen giving her hot take grade a trans flag put the idea in my head she's trans which I also love because I also am. I am now eagerly waiting for the 28th as I have one hextech chest and I'm hoping to get the skin out of it, considering the cost of living sucks and I can't spare the money lmfao.
So long story short, I love Taliyah, she's fun to play, and she's a funky li'l transbian girl.

I mean hell, a part of me kinda doubts the higher ups at Riot Games even fully recognise the implication that she’s trans, or they would have shot it down immediately.
All this to say, yes ABSOLUTELY demand better of Riot Games, but also, I really don’t think it’s always some insidious marketing ploy to manipulate their queer audiences. There’s a difference between “the marketing department is soulessly queer baiting” and “the artists and writers are doing their best with corporate restrictions to include genuine representation, even if it’s only a little bit”.

But if they do it, I think it would be better if they made an entirely new champion around it. Right now, Taliyah is one of the very VERY few female designs that strays away from the typical, cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all, sexy female Champion design. Her being a former boy would just completely undermine that and push the female designs back to "all females must look sexy", you know?
I really liked her specifically because she was so unique, but with that in mind it's just "well of course she isn't stereotypically sexy, she was a boy before".
