  • A simple and easy way of reproducing the radiated immunity test failures you've seen in EMC test house. In this video, we demonstrated a method of using low-cost log periodic antenna to radiate noise on a device under test (DUT), the trick is to have enough RF power to your antenna so that the field is strong enough to affect the performance of your DUT. In order to create such a strong field, we used Tekbox TBMDA3 for the job. The other power RF amplifier we used doesn't have sufficient output power to drive the interference level up to the level we want.

    Excellent video! I’ve finished your Practical EMC Training for Design Engineers course from Fedevel Academy, loved the real scenario experience. On lesson 9 didn’t have the tools to test the radiated immunity so I hope by sending the screen capture of this video and subscribing to the channel and giving thumps up! I hope It still counts as done homework to get the certificate :D and using a stapler to hold the PCB antenna is something I’ll have done too!

    Your videos are great Zhang, you should prepare a course and put it on Feranec’s platform.

    just ordered some similar tekbox equipment, looking forward to recreating this setup!

    Great Video ! Have you also performed the near field testing using E and H field probes ? did you check the Electric field strength ? it might be much more than 10V/m considering 37 dBm output . 'SYNTHNV' from windfreak technology can produce 19dBm output power .

    Dr. Zhang, with pleasure I am watching your videos. Could you make series about tips from your person?. Like short 10 minutes video with case study. "Watch on this", "This in 99% may cause" something like this. Do not get this like my order, it is only thing for which I would be grateful. :)

      thanks. yes, our video from now on only aims to have 7 minute long and keep them short, simple and fun to watch.

    Really interesting video - what kind of field strength can you achieve? Is it safe to do it outside of a chamber?

      That's a good one, Robert. I think it must be at least 10V/m, could be higher. You are right, it is not that safe to use outside a chamber. Luckily my workspace is in the middle of nowhere, so I haven't had any complaints so far. I will measure the field using my AR e-field meter sometime later.

    Nice Video. What is the wattage of the attenuator?

    • @MachOneDesignEMC
      @MachOneDesignEMC  2 года назад +1

      I think it is a 10 Watt one, a 5 Watt one will do the job as the RF amplifier has 5 Watt maximum output.

    Good. How could I calculate the field stange on TTI as 3V/m of IEC 61000-4-3 ?

    You used a second spectrum analyzer so that it scans different frequencies from the one you are injecting?

      @MachOneDesignEMC  2 года назад +2

      Hi Rafael, thanks. Yes, the small handheld spectrum analyzer is used for monitoring the RF current induced by the RF field from the antenna. Due to the length of the video, I didn't have time to explain in details. On the hindsight, I should have. RF field exposed to the DUT and its cable, there will be RF current induced by the field, we use the current probe to measure that current level to get an idea of roughly how much RF field we expose to the DUT.

    Should you be radiating RF outside the screen room or are you jamming an aircraft navigation frequency. I think you are breaking the law and committing a felony. You need a GTEM cell or a screen room.
