That right there is the sound that drove heavy metal into the stratosphere. And I believe it’s a surprisingly versatile amp too. Mark IIs are known as metal monsters, but they can easily be dialed in for almost any kind of music.
I just picked up a Mark III made in 1987 I think. It sounds so close the differences aren’t worth mentioning and even paying a tech to go over it it was still less than half of what this thing costs
I'd say the prices are higher than we'd like but at least make some sense based on the prices of the old ones. The prices on the 90's Dual Rec, on the other hand, make no damn sense.
And the build quality isn’t what they used to be either. Old Rectifiers and Boogies are basically indestructible. They were made for the road. That old amp you might find second hand is probably perfectly fine. Might need new tubes, but that’s normal. Gibson owns the Mesa brand these days and their build quality hasn’t been worth the asking price for a while now. When Korean made guitars a third of the price have better fit and finish than America’s most prestigious brand then something’s not right.
How is Sweden’s favorite son doing today. I’m here for the CHUGGS, but the cost $ of this amplifier is ridiculous. Thanks for the Riffs Ola👊🏻! Annoying that they charge so much for these amps, so all I can do is dream 💭. Until next time my favorite Swede…. Stay safe, Stay metal, and don’t forget to Riff.!?🤘🏻🥂👊🏻😎👍🏻🔥
I only have one question, that I know I might be able to google, but... What the everloving fuck does the bass pull shift even do? I hear almost no difference, neither on amp sims, nor on the real thing - and I pride myself on having a good ear 😶
Finding out that this “DRG” reissue comes hardwired in Pentode, not Triode as all DRGs did, made me lose interest in this “reissue”. That and they were using output transformers from both Mark V90s and JP2Cs instead of having a faithful recreation of the OGs transformer specs. It’s still a cool amp and a IIC+ of sorts, but it is NOT a DRG reissue.
Why would I buy this one amp when I could get a Fractal or a Tone Master Pro and have multiple amps, including this one, along with all kinds of effects and other stuff for half the price? Iron Maiden's Dave Murray uses a Fractal. Metallica uses Fractal. If it's good enough for them, then shouldn't it be good enough for me?
Ola debunks the stupid myth that Boogies are "HArD 2DIaLiN" in 3 mins. I've had two MK series amps and was off in running minutes after firing them up. Hard for clothy eared nubs but thats it. And oh Ya, pre-Gibson 4eVa! F' those Corp Weasel tools.
Ok dude, the duel rectifier is obviously the best metal amplifier ever! Don't keep making mesa boogie videos if you don't admit it! Everything else is a copy or not as metal as a mesa duel rectifier! Just admit it and start recording with it or move on bro! We all love Dime but warhead is not as metal as a duel rectifier! It the pinnacle of metal! Just adopt it or move on man!
No talk. You’re right, there is no talk about this. And the recto the same. This is so gibson. Nothing new, only making old thing with new price. It’s a shame.
My opinion... too much hype fort this piece of gear. I mean, back in the days I can understand why it was so appreciated but nowdays there are sooo many better sounding and still versatile amps that I just can't understand why this thing should be a... thing
Man, Mesa is gonna owe Ola some royalty cheques pretty soon lol. Sounds so good and sick as usual!
This is material for Olafans
Please tell me he sells “OlaFans” merch 😮
@@GenerationDown Seriously! I'm ready to drain my wallet for some OlaFans merch!
01:21 awesome riff and the tone fits well here
Man that 750 slider does so much for the sound.
Best 2C+RI demo BY FAR
Old school Ola video. Nice! Love how you keep changing it up. Of course you are the best amp dialing inner ever on the interwebs, sounds fantastic 🤘🤘🤘
Old school Ola!!! No talk just twisting knobs! Love it!
I have no idea why, but this was a really rewarding watch and listen.
👍🏼
Good morning!
tasty riffs, great tones, always!
Absolutely mean sound 🤘
That right there is the sound that drove heavy metal into the stratosphere. And I believe it’s a surprisingly versatile amp too. Mark IIs are known as metal monsters, but they can easily be dialed in for almost any kind of music.
Do the dual rectifier next please.....
40 years and still rock like a beast!
Thx for this vid… I suggest you to teach Gibson how to dial in this amp!
Like the good ol' days!
Changing tones & playing at the same time. Even I can't do that.
pretty sure he was running a DI through the amp on a loop
while adjusting....
@@stephenpryor1505 now, why didn't I think of that??
Re-Amped
Pull Deep so lonely. Need Pull!
this amp (aka Marksman Ch2) is in the Fender Tone Master Pro, and sounds identical, when dialled identical.
Old skool Ola Video
🖤🖤🖤
A god among amps 🤟👿🤟
Number 1 my friend..
The price is insane

need a kemper profile instead
Yeah I just got the plugin. Is it the same? Absolutely not. Is it close enough to record some music and have fun? For me it is.

IT CHUGS!!
I would love to see a test of the solid state Randall heads like this! Like the 1003/1503/3003 series.
Hey Ola could you please dial in a tone on a lower tuned guitar like an 8 string? I'm curios to see how it sounds. Thank you
Yes pls
Shared this on Rig-Talk, dear Memberer.
1:30 is perfect tone
So that’s why literally every demo of a mark series has the post EQ in a smiley face all the time.
it seems the EQ has more of an effect on the tone than the dials do .. or am I listening incorrectly ? great vid, thx Ola.
i wish hear sound standard “E” tune😊
thank you for this awesome video
can you do the same for the rectifier?
888k sub, dont know what that meanbut it mean something
I'd like to see this with the Cobain EQ curve instead of the Crunchberries EQ curve.
Noice
Phwoarrr!!
@OlaEnglund I´m eagerly awaiting the Mooer GS1000 Review
Maybe its the angle, but I swear that Boogie badge isn't mounted correctly.
Looks a bit slanty
I always pull the 500 down and the 750 up, its alot better mid punch and takes out the bass flub
Does the third hand come in the box?
Do this with the MK V
Hey Ola, so what were the best settings - the ones you begin or end with? And what tuning is this song in?
usually he plays in CGCFAd tuning.
Hard to believe this is a retro amp
Maan that price tag though...
Clean channel please 😆😆😆

How much is this?
I like this kind of videos, unfortunately I think it’s not an amp for me. I’m a rectifier guy

Old ola vibes
Dude bring euge valovirta for coffee episode
Sounds like my JOYO ZOMBIE XL II....LOL.
Prefer the JP2C honestly.....But most, I prefer my modded Triaxis.
The most important stuff in this video, no talk...
Just came here to see people complain about the price.

Dude, it’s a type of amplifier, not your wife n kids.
Mesa Boogie thinks everyone is just loaded with money. They're turning into a boutique amp,at least the prices are bou by b by by by TV
No talk. You’re right, there is no talk about this. And the recto the same. This is so gibson. Nothing new, only making old thing with new price. It’s a shame.
First!
Last!
Never cut the mids !
I've got that sound in a Mark V I bought used for a fraction of this crazy price tag. I don't get the hype to buy this reissue, or even an OG one.
My opinion... too much hype fort this piece of gear. I mean, back in the days I can understand why it was so appreciated but nowdays there are sooo many better sounding and still versatile amps that I just can't understand why this thing should be a... thing
I'm sorry but I wasn't impressed at all by what I heard. It reminded me of my original IIC+ and why I still prefer my JP2Cs
too much gain and bass, it's flubbing out
