@@MrShutterBug Looking forward to see what you can do in a whoop format with dji. I'm thinking it kind of needs 2s. Looking at something like a 1103 2.5" toothpick in a 95x frame, maybe 85x.

Another epic job on your build and flying Nate that was cool to see you doing digital fpv by using your TV. I am still waiting for DJI to play catch up and make a smaller lighter VTX just like this one so I can still use my DJI googles instead of buying a new system IMHO.

Are you telling me you flew that using the big screen as opposed to goggles? You amazing psycho whoopy nutbar you. Great flying and another great build! I have many more builds in my head than my wallet allows, especially these days as all the boards are about 40% more than a year or two ago.

Nice! DJI FPV has ruined me to the point that I don’t enjoy flying my analog whoop anymore and this new digital VTX can change that! Hopefully we soon see decent goggles with built-in HDZero.

That is like the holy grail for Whoop racers - even at that weight it's pretty close to being usable for racing. I mainly use DJI or analog, but a 65mm racer with HDZero would absolutely make me get into that format.
Hi. The canopy was 3D printed. There is a link to the STL file in the video description text. If you don't have a 3D printer, then you get send the file to any company that does 3D prints. The material is TPU. Cheers!
This is awesome! I'm always impressed at how compact you get your builds. This one is definitely not an exception. I hope something similar can make it to the bind and fly level this year.
The toothpick is an updated version of the build I showed in this video: ruclips.net/video/YxDOrr-jt40/видео.html Originally it had a 2mm thick Babytooth frame from FPV Cycle. In hindsight, I think the 3mm thick version would have been better. I broke an arm by crashing into a tree. Then I switched to a new frame which you saw. The new frame isn’t really new. It is something that I had lying around. It was given to me a while back but it has no name and you can’t buy it. If the new frame gives me trouble, then I’ll probably try out the AOS TP3 next. It is supposed to have good vibration handling. I hope that answers your question. Cheers!
@@MrShutterBug thank you for replying sir. Yes, I saw the babytooth frame in your instagram. I just wondered the new frame looked like crux3 but have pointy er ends. I am looking for a frame the can still have 4screw holes for the fc and still not flipping the board, just like the crux3.
Yep, sorry DJI I was on the fence between you and fatshark but let’s be honest, what do you really think about FPV. The quadcopter you made I think let’s us know. $$$ Time to get the HDZERO
I assume you're referring to the firmware update connector. I decided to leave it on because HDZero firmware keeps getting better, and I think I will want to update this one later. The final version of the 1S VTX will have a much smaller version of that plug, which is one of the reasons it will be even lighter.
if you use the caddx m8 lens you can save another 0,5g compared to the original runcam lens and the hdzero upgrade lens. imagequality is in between the original and upgrade lens.
I am using a Caddx M8 lens. It is the lens designed for the Baby Ratel, and it is lighter than the lens that came on the Runcam Nano HD camera. Are you talking about the same lens or a different one?
Hello, thinking about doing the same build, but 75 instead of 65 (I would get a bit more flight time or more speed, but a bit worst for tighter tracks) what would you recommend? Planing to fly in small gymnasium or small backyard)
The larger props should definitely give you more flight time. For a super-light 75mm 1S build, I recommend 0802 motors. If it is 2S or has digital FPV, then I recommend 1102.
Great great build ! I want to make the same build except for the ELRS. Can you please recommend a FrSky counterpart FC that would be best for this build ?
BetaFPV used to make FrSky 1S FCs so you might be able to find one if you shop around. Happymodel also makes one, and I think HGLRC has one too. So there are options. I don't currently have one that I would recommend over any of the others.
The final vtx could be as light as 3.7 grams. Combine that with an even shorter MIPI cable and a camera with a lighter lens and housing and we’ll be nearly there!
Awesome !!! This might be the final killer for analog video. I think i might try to buy an old ByteFrost ground station on ebay, that i will let permanently plugged into my TV, for use when flying indoor. Like you did at 11:25 🙂
Great! First punch out to the roof 🤣👌 btw i’ve used just some thin wire as elrs antenna when i have popped off that SMD antenna but range is still over 200m 🤷🏻♂️
If you use these components with 40mm 2-blade props, then you should get even better performance and flight time. That is something I often do, but for this build I wanted to see how good a 65mm whoop could be with 31mm props.
Check the wiring diagram before you solder. The Tx pad on the VTX goes to an Rx pad on the FC, and the Rx pad on the VTX goes to a Tx pad on the FC. That is the connection used for the "canvas mode" OSD.
Yes, I have heard that there is a new receiver module in the works. It has some minor updates with respect to the original. I think they said it would start being available sometime in February, but I'm not certain. They are also working on some new goggles which will have even lower latency because they will bypass HDMI and sync directly with the displays. The goggles wont be available until sometime in the summer, I think. You can get more info on the HDZero Discord or Facebook groups.
Nice! Would love it if they somehow came with a low latency receiver so you could fly on the tv. I've found more people like to get involved when they can see your video feed.
Did you watch to the end of the video? I totally did that! The receiver outputs and HDMI signal so you want hook it up to just about any display. Now, depending on your TV, it might add extra latency. Some TVs have a "game" mode for lower latency. My projector adds 20ms, which is noticeable to me, but still flyable.
Yeah I did I just noticed the latency, if there's no added latency from the receiver out then that's perfect! Then yes it's just all up display. :) We've done it so far with hdmi upconverters on analog, but the latency was too much.
AWESOME!!!! I'd love to see 8 of these flying in a metal building! clear video for multiple pilots in a tough RF environment would be the selling point for me. The camera seems to be lacking sharpness. Maybe that's because i'm comparing the image quality to the OSD text. The OSD text is razor sharp, image- not so much. Does anyone know why this is?
The OSD is sharper because it is rendered by the goggles and not encoded with the rest of the video. I could make the video look a bit sharper by turning up the sharpness setting, but that looks less natural to me. Keep in mind that this is the old Runcam Nano HD camera. The newer one with HDZero branding is better. See: ruclips.net/video/U48jjmFtG1A/видео.html
The OSD type has to be set to MSP Display Port. I don’t remember the exact command off hand, but it is listed in the SharkByte/HDZero manual. If you are on Betaflight 4.3 with the latest Configurator, then it is really easy because you can use the Presets tab (just search HDZero).
I'd love to find an indoor tinywhoop that can freestyle between furniture and be stable and punchy but safe around the cats. Something as good as the Nazgul line but built for indoor and tiny size, while still delivering a quality experience. I have a shitty 30eur drone with no camera and it feels like it flies as well as this haha. It's cool to see the tech getting smaller and smaller. One day we will get 144hz 3D capture connected to VR glasses for indoor freestyle, this is the ultimate goal for a nerd like me who doesn't go out haha.
"144hz 3D capture connected to VR glasses" - yes I am waiting for that too (and please 4k per eye with >90° FOV) 😂 - till then I need to stick to my 60hz analog whoop (but already 3D/stereo)
I have been told that the first batch of 1S video transmitters and Lite cameras have been sold to other manufacturers to make BNF drones. We will probably see those drones on the market soon. The second batch will be available for general retail. Last I heard, they would be available in late May or early June.
I wonder if dji/caddx will ever give us a single board vtx like this one day. We got a nice micro camera now the nebula nano pro, but a smaller vtx would be great too.
I hope so. I hope both systems continue to improve. Unfortunately, Caddx is just manufacturing the air unit that DJI designed and DJI hasn't shown any interest in further development ever since they released their own DJI FPV drone. We'll see.
You're referring to the big HDZero firmware flashing connector right? Yes, removing that would save weight. In fact, that connector is one of the things that will be different on the final version of the VTX.
You need the HDZero / SharkByte receiver, which is designed to attach to the front of your goggles. It should work with any goggles that have HDMI input. The FatShark Scout HD goggles are another option with a built-in receiver. Later this year, HDZero will release their own goggles, and it will be the best option of all because they will be able to optimize it for the HDZero system. They say it will have 4ms glass-to-glass latency, which will be great! I hope that helps.
The motors and FC from a Meteor65 could be used to build something like this, but I think you will have a problem connecting both a Ghost receiver and the HDZero VTX at the same time because they will both need a UART (a pair of Rx and Tx pads on the FC). The Meteor65 FC has R1/T1 but it does not expose a second pair. You could use the HDZero VTX without connecting any Rx/Tx pads, but you would not have any OSD. Therefore, I think it would be better to use one of the radio protocols that can be built-in or find a different 1S FC that has more pads. Also, the you would not be able to mount an FC on the underside of the Meteor65 frame, like I did in this video. You would either need to use a different frame, or you would need to stack both the FC and the VTX on the top. I hope that gives you enough information to go on. Cheers!
I believe so, yes. I believe the Mob6 frame is the same as the "BWhoop65" frame I showed. I believe the UR65 frame is also the same. If so, you should be able to fit an FC underneath if you remove the motor plugs and rotate it like I showed.
I am sitting here twiddling my fingers waiting for this 1s HD VTx to be released. Any word on a release date, if anyone would know then you would. flying 1s HD acro whoop around the house... its what Ive been waiting for!

We've done it so far with hdmi upconverters on analog, but the latency was too much.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Any news on release date for the 1cell tx?
They are being manufactured. End of March would be my guess but not certain.
How did you get the osd to show? I have the same set up. Connect straight to smart audio and can’t get the osd to show. :(
The OSD type has to be set to MSP Display Port.
Any idea when this kit will be available? Can't find it anywhere. Even for preorder.
I have been told that the first batch of 1S video transmitters and Lite cameras have been sold to other manufacturers to make BNF drones. We will probably see those drones on the market soon. The second batch will be available for general retail. Last I heard, they would be available in late May or early June.
@@MrShutterBug That's great news. Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated
We'll see.
Have you tried any of the new 2inch props that you were talking about in your HDZero Shutterbug85 video?
Are emax avan 2" still the best?
I still like the feel of the Avan props myself, but the others might have an efficiency advantage. I have not had time to compare the efficiency.
There’s one guy who transplanted the same camera to a caddx ratel 2 case and lens. He got it down to 2.53g. Saw in Hdzero discord
Curious if it would be much of a difference in weight to remove the unused connector. :)
You're referring to the big HDZero firmware flashing connector right? Yes, removing that would save weight. In fact, that connector is one of the things that will be different on the final version of the VTX.
I see and hear a lot about HDzero cams and VTX’s, but nothing about RX’s / goggles.
So what is needed on the “receiving side” to fly with HDzero?
You need the HDZero / SharkByte receiver, which is designed to attach to the front of your goggles. It should work with any goggles that have HDMI input. The FatShark Scout HD goggles are another option with a built-in receiver. Later this year, HDZero will release their own goggles, and it will be the best option of all because they will be able to optimize it for the HDZero system. They say it will have 4ms glass-to-glass latency, which will be great! I hope that helps.
I have a BetaFPV Meteor 65 - do you think I can covert this to HD? Also what RX are you using? I want to run ghost.
Cheers!
Can I use mobula 6 frame to build this drone using the tricks you mentioned? Sad, I couldn't find beta65 pro v3 frame everywhere.
I believe so, yes. I believe the Mob6 frame is the same as the "BWhoop65" frame I showed. I believe the UR65 frame is also the same. If so, you should be able to fit an FC underneath if you remove the motor plugs and rotate it like I showed.
@@MrShutterBug Thank you. I found BWhoop65 everywhere in Taobao. I'll go get one and wait for the 1s VTX.
WOW !
Real nice!
I am sitting here twiddling my fingers waiting for this 1s HD VTx to be released. Any word on a release date, if anyone would know then you would. flying 1s HD acro whoop around the house... its what Ive been waiting for!
Word is they are being manufactured already. I would expect an announcement this month sometime, but dot know for sure.
Awsome, i can finally think about setting the analogs down :)
I quite like my hummingbird but this will be awesome..
Frames, motors, FC is already ordered after watching your video 5 minutes ago... now we just need the HDzero lite whoop vtx :/
Any timeframe on availability?
Thanks for this Mr bug :P
I think they are hoping to release the 1S VTX in February, but I can't promise that obviously. You'll find up-to-date info on the HDZero groups on Discord or Facebook.
@@MrShutterBug nice, thank you 🙂
Gosh, I want this so much. Now I just need money I can spend on hdzero...
Let me know if can buy one from you
Not for sale. Sorry.
Awesome and always amazing builds. 👍🏼👍🏼
Couldn’t find what the power output will be? 25mw? 100mw? 200mw?
It supports 25mw and 200mw
@@MrShutterBug oh HELL YEAH! My babytooth will be going digital!!
