I'm 34 and I've been skateboarding since I was about 12 and i can tell you those downhill guys are on a whole other level I've always thought those guys are crazy but mad respect!
as a DH skateboarder I can tell you this may look crazy but there is a huge amount of work beside that. These guys train like hell and know every single turns of the roads they skate. Their trucks and board are expensive as hell and are super precised, stable (and turny at a time) and allow you to be very confidend at high speed. Brave but not crazy ^^ In my team rider there are some guys who used to be street skater like you. And they learnt DH skating very very quick like in a year they were able to reach 70-80kph. Give it a shot ;)
i bombed a hill once that shit is scary and it was the hill i live on there are a couple of skaters that go to my local and they longboard and they bombed my hill no problem and said it was a baby hill compared to what they bomb
I thought hitting twisties on a motorcycle was as beautiful as it gets but seeing this is breathtakingly awesome ,the serenity and brotherhood between the 2 of them the connection to the pavement absolutely therapeutic to watch and I could only imagine how it must feel and smell doing it on real life ,much respect to all who do this .

My adrenaline spiked while watching. I am 56 and back into skating parks before the lockdown but the other day I bombed a hill at the end of our street. I had planned it and brought my skate wrench but forgot to tighten my trucks. I got going pretty fast and uh oh some wobbles. Scared the shit out of me. I’ve left a lot of dna on hills I’ve stacked on in the past but this time I remembered a downhill video I watched on RUclips and the guy said 70% of weight on the front foot and lean forward. I held my front foot as steady tight as I could and didn’t stack! Bombing hills is a RUSH! Thanks for the awesome video!
Robert, if you haven't yet, buy slide gloves and learn how to slide, you will never be scared of hills again. Super awesome you are 56 hitting hills. I'm 36 still bombing hills of asphalt and snow. Hope to still be doing it at 56!
@Commander Mc Bragg The Sierra range stretches from so-cal to nor-cal along the west side of the California central valley, but the best high-speed run is on hwy 20, just north of immigrant gap, about 5 miles off of hwy 80. Speeds of 70+ and clean new asphalt too !!!

How about wearing a freefall skydiving suit while you do this and then seperating from the board? Couldn't you technically reach high enough speeds to take off?
@@BChan1991 I think we're both not taking into account the drag of the suit as the board reaches whatever speed necessary. At what point would the lift created just pull him off the board? I can only see this working if he rides off a cliff or big ramp, but at that point is is just base jumping with extra steps

I'm the proudest dad ever.
I’m a new sub and 68 years old as of tomorrow, when I watch these videos I have a constant smile through out the whole video, just amazes me going that fast on a board with no brakes. Kudos on the video and the guy taking it. Stay safe 😂
riding gear would restrict their movement and make them more likely to make a mistake, hence why most down hill skaters dont wear much, those gloves are their stabilization thats all they'll use, on occasion knee pads
Amazing, pure adrenaline, But dangerous at the same time. My friend was doing the same thing and one day he fail, he hit with the front part of his head at the stone, he died immediately after. Despite he had premium gear, and pretty expensive helmet, he broke his neck and his brain was damaged pretty bad because of the force of impact. Just saying, be careful, it's hard to watch his family afterwards. He was young guy, he had 1 year old daughter. If you think about it she will never have father unfortunately.

OMG you lot have some talent. The pressure you're pushing, those little adjustments, slingshots, and vision for road surface, I'm in awe. How much reconnaissance goes down before the run? You know, surface, traffic, pockets of gusting wind, best lines? I'm getting older now. Still like to jump canny gaps on a bike and keep it under 30mph on a board. My last two wipeouts took ages to recover from and my older kid begs me to stay safe when I head out for a session, bless her. So yeah, you guys are my heroes I can live vicariously thru. Dope skills guys.

I may have replied earlier. No matter. A side from the top notch skills of all involved. Really, words could not do it justice. My point? Raw sound is so superior to some stinking music added later. The thunder of the air around the mic puts the viewer right there. If the point is to catch the moment in all its glory. The raw sound does it. My hat is off to all.
Well at that speed ceramic bearings are recomendet because steel bearings start to deform because they get that hot. Of course once you stop they cool down quickly but while riding they can get extremely hot. I got a big burn on my finger because i touched the bearing after a fast run. I had bubbles on my finger and i touched it just for a split second
For me, they get up to 200 or so degrees, maybe more, after an hour long ride, but I ussally don’t go over 30mph, so I’d imagine there’s being near 400/500

fr it’s crazy the amount of leg strength board sports take. I remember the first time I tried wakesurfing I got the hang of it really quick but my legs gave out after 5 minutes just from holding the edge in the wake
i've been watching these videos on and off for a few weeks now whilst learning to ride goofy, and im starting to put together the weighting and habits needed to bomb these hills. looking to learn powersliding soon, it's a big goal to reach this level of awesome!
I remember skating home from school with a friend and a couple times when we were close together our foot would clip part of the others wheel, then they'd go flying. I know in the vid they're not pushing but man does it stress me out seeing how close they get xD
That was a pretty epic run! There's a road that comes down out of the Andes mountains in Chile see you guys on check out it's a paved road it's a little bumpy it have to use bigger rubber tires but it's 25 mi straight down
In my younger days of riding skateboards, maybe yes. Now at 70 years old, there's no way in hell I would even think of getting on a skateboard. I'll leave this to the younger generations and brave at heart. Good luck and just know this. If you fall it's gonna hurt like Hell.

I'm pretty confident you couldnt. It should take 100mph+ to even glide for a few feet since youd pretty much slow down the second you leave the board

The Bearings are warm, the wheels at 88 compound hot, but not hot that will burn your hand,exagerating hot hot is nonsense
