Enragedguy24 You’re entirely correct, of course. However, I feel like pauper is very limited in its complexity, thus commander is a nice switch up. I still love pauper though.

I get what you mean, I play Tortured Existence to make myself lose if I don't plan 3 turn ahead and don't know my opponent's deck.
8:49 Angel of Jubilation doesn't stop cards like Diabolic Edict or All is dust (sacrifices as an effect), it prevents the casting of cards like Fling (sacrifices a creature as a cost) and Toxic Deluge (pays life as a cost).

Considering toxic deluge is one of the ways black has to get around indestructible, seems worth it

Doesnt angel of jubilation prevent you from casting your commanders alternative cost??
black has multiple grave pact effects so stopping toxic deluge is not the most important part. what's important is that angel of jubilation stops sacrifice outlets like altars which are used in infinite combo loops. it also stops annoying commanders like razaketh and prossh. but this list needs more interaction with whatever your opponent is trying to do - low cmc effects like rest in peace and disenchant. stuff which will allow you to resolve your spells would help too - cavern of souls and grand abolisher.
the draw package is abyssmaly slow and vulnerable - some low cmc equipment that draws/filters and alms collector might help.
This is going to be my first EDH-deck and it's name shall be "Tolarian Angels" I love it!
this was my first commander deck and it is so much fun to play.
It should be required for you to play Flight of the Valkyries anytime you move to combat with your angels!!!

Great video professor! I like how you walked through the net deck process, as some people seem to think that those that use resources like EDHREC are either lazy or bad at deck building. When I first got into magic, I dove head first into commander as that's all my friends played. I knew next to nothing about any card pre Theros block, and EDHREC was instrumental in helping me find cards that I simply never knew existed.
I can't wait for this set to drop so I can try out a genuine Professor original!
Angel of Jubilation does not stop opponents from forcing you to sacrifice cards with card effects. It only stops cards that have it as a requirement to cast or abilities that has it as a cost.
Thats true but shes here not for stopping opps forcing u to sac. Shes here to stop ravagers or combo engines like viscera seer
Amazing job with the preview! I've been trying to build a blink themed commander deck, blinking is my favorite mechanic in magic. Everytime I start to brew though I'm a little overwhelmed by the options. I can't even decide which commander! The white/blue god would be great constant fuel, but then I'm missing out on those sweet green ETB triggers. It would be awesome to see what you would do for the ultimate blink commander deck! Thank you so much for being an absolute top tier MTG content creator.

Just got the sephara promo in my prerelease kit. The professors videos helped me work up the confidence to go, and now this is a sign to try my hand at some commander.
Coming back to Magic The Gathering for the first time since Mercadian Masques, after a four way Commander match with my cousins. I really like the game mode, it's focus on social play, and the tight deckbuilding for it.
Just found your channel, and one of the first things I see is you reviewing and building a commander deck around a card called "Sky's Blade". This has been my internet alias for around two decades, so it feels like they're celebrating my return. :)
Your preview card was super cool! I also really enjoyed the looks of Yarok, the desecrated that is coming out for the 2020 set. Currently working on a deck for him now and would love your input in a deck tech video!
I play mono-white a lot and play EDH a lot, so this new card has me jumping for joy!! While it's not Prof's usual funny-style video, it was interesting, entertaining, informational, and has my mind filled with thoughts of cards to add/take out from what he built here, which is a really fantastic brew for a first commander card! Kudos to you, Prof, and thank you for all you do!
I actually might want to give this a try. I pulled a Sephara in a M20 sealed league I'm in to get myself back into MTG, & I've been on the fence about doing Commander/EDH. Thank you for this.

Hanged Executioner from M20 is also a good card for this deck Prof. For a 3 CMC card, it gives you 2 fliers and also a situational removal card

Great job Tolarian Professor, you got a new subscriber and thus a new student on the Tolarian Academy. I would also add cheap T1 drops like Segovian Angel, Ornithopter, Glint Hawk, Rustwing Falcon, Hope of Giraphur, Duskborne Skymarcher, etc then some anthem effects and swing with your entire team as well as take the beautiful golden angel Sephara early in the game. Love the strategy of Sephara with Empyreal Storm, Resplendent Angel and/or Angelic Accord. I think this is a really funny deck to play with in monowhite EDH. Thank you so very much for the Sephara video since I am looking to build around her.

Sword of the Animist and Dowsing Dagger are personal favorites of mine with evasive creatures and in non-green colors. Making a token tutor a basic on the field tapped whenever it attacked or being able to easily get a gilded lotus land is just nice!

The background music is so soothing.
This reminds a lot of how I put together my Isperia the Inscutable commander deck, except she tutors for fliers instead of protecting them. Instead of a pressure to go wide she gives you a pressure to look at opponent's hands (or at least know a card in them) since that is a requirement for her to actually tutor, thus I play a lot of bounce spells, and a couple different versions of peek. Sephara is likely to be included in this deck once I acquire a copy. And that deck is easy mode for assembling Brusila
OMG...this card is (1) busted, and (2) EXACTLY my kind of card. This preview is FIIIIII-YAAHHHHHHHH.
Just getting into MTG a bit in person after playing on MTGA off and on for a little over a year; I decided to jump into Commander by taking some of the few cards I had already and making a deck from scratch. Sephara was a card I got in a duel deck so decided to make her my commander and using one of your more recent videos I used EDHRec, scryfall, and a few others to look up cards I thought would be good. I think I leaned to heavy into the angel tribe because of the 2 games I played in person I didn't even get to my commander. I also could just be rubbish and or up against much better decks. But I definitely felt like I had no ramp and card draw even though I have some of the same cards you have. Maybe the tokens will help me a bit by getting Sephara out.

Now that you've had the deck for almost a year, how has it done?
Angel of Jubilation does prevent our opponents from sacrificing our creatures so technically what you said is correct, but not really in the spirit of what you're meaning. It doesn't prevent them from making us sacrifice.
with all those flyers I would highly recommend equipment that provides card draw. Cheap options like rogues gloves and mask of memory or pricey options like sword of fire and ice.
Is that KSP music? Because your building flying deck? Nice touch...
The Commander from M20 I'm most excited about is Yarok, since it is a Sultai Commander that isn't focused on graveyard synergies.
When I've built monowhite, I often include Inspiring Statuary. You are including multiple artifacts that you don't have to tap for any reason, allowing them to also make mana by adding Improvise to many of your spells I've found to be helpful.
Only issue I see is no way to deal with a card like languish. -1/-1 also gets around indestructible. Cool deck prof!

If you’re up against a Voltron deck in your meta, take a look at End Hostilities as a deck board wipe, since it takes out all equipment attached to creatures as well.
The first card I thought of when thinking about this deck was Archetype of Imagination. Not as a card that can be put in, but as a card that is a bit of a threat to this deck.

I don’t know if you will see or read this comment, but why not run Adarkar Valkyrie in this deck? It seems like a perfect fit to me. It flies, and it can either save Sephara or steal one of your opponents’ best creatures when you Wrath.
A lifegain deck ! It's the most rare strategy in commander and in RUclips deck techs

Gauntlet of Power in mono color is so good, good in this deck with all theses costly angels.
As someone who - up until now - just used Gatherer, Tapped Out, and Mythic Spoiler, this video's already really helpful and I'm not even done watching it, yet. I didn't know these sites existed.
Hmm, I have a lot of these suggestions already in my Athreos deck... I may need to borrow those and try this deck out when I can get my hands on this wonderful angel. Excellent ideas, Prof, and an excellent preview too!

Man...I really like this card but I wish it was Boros. I run an Aurelia angel tribal/reanimator list and I think this would serve as a better commander for the deck. It will still be welcome in the 99 though.

It's the first card that came to my mind when I saw Sephara's text, so I was surprised he didn't include it, considering how big of a Pauper supporter the Professor is. The cost of Battle Screech has historically been abnormally high, so it might be one of the pitfalls of using websites like EDHrec, where it's easy to replicate collective blind spots. (EDHrec is still great!)

I pulled Avacyn during her prerelease and always regretted giving her away with the rest of my collection years ago. This sounds like a fun alternative. Absolutely on board.

I would love to see a deck with huge casting cost an ways to drop in without paying mana cost or hugely redused mana cost regardless of big spell played.
I'd like to see a deck tech talking about the different directions Yarok can go - I'm seeing lots of people talking about creaturefall, but very little for constellation, landfall, elemental tribal even, possibly a stronger contender than Omnath there. Personally I'm excited to run a major theft theme in Yarok, with cards like Gonti, Hostage Taker, and - naturally - Villainous Wealth as a bonus.

Add both versions of Rhonas and Carnage tyrant
Due to the devotion to green, run cards that have multiple green mana symbols in their mana cost, such as gigantosaurus and other big beefy stomp creatures. Because it's mono green, you shouldn't have to worry that much about having enough green mana. You can run ramp creatures such as llanowar elves, llanowar tribe, extra land players such as explore and llanowar scout will also get you off the ground with big creatures faster. There are other things but I don't quite know what the goal of your deck is, if you have a decklist I would be happy to make suggestions.
my preview card was a planeswalker Ajani, strengt of thr pride. you can use him in the token deck it can exile all artifact and creature of your opponents @Tolarian Community College

The 7-cmc slot in my Avacyn deck is very tight, but I've got a place for her in my Kaalia build (into which new Kaalia is also going); where she's better than Aegis Angel.
A great video, but I think you should look at including Spirit Bonds as a cheap and effective way to generate fliers and protect Sephara from all your wraths.

Honestly, I think Commander is way more fun than standard. The mode lends itself to more casual and fun play (especially with multiplayer). It's a less cutthroat mode, and the decks can be build to emphasize bizarre, risky, and really enjoyable play styles.
This deck is a way above my budget. I wish to have something with her on prices more to the ground level.

March of Souls from planar chaos is a obscure board wipe that could be great here.
4 colorless and 1 white: Destroy all creatures. They can't be regenerated. For each creature destroyed this way, its controller creates a 1/1 white Spirit creature token with flying.
Awesome Video! I was totally planning on building an angel commander deck finally. Would have loved if you went into the landbase a bit, since I feel a bit lost on what nonbasics to put in here besides the obvious few.
EDHREC is always my first go to website when trying to build a new commander deck. The sortation and rankings are the best. This card is quite strong. Dawn of Hope is also good for drawing cards.
Angel of Jubiliation doesn't stop effects that cause you to sac creatures - she prevents you from sacrificing creatures as a cost.
Taijuru Preserver and Sigarda, Host of Herons are the ones with the ability you're thinking of, and they aren't pure white.
