I can say that I don't' ever want this for presidential voting. President should be no electoral college and just popular vote. No more "swing states" No more must win states.

Portland, once again, didn't think this all the way through. In its venerable effort to create more representation from all the socioeconomic groups, the city decided to have three times as many council members. Because of this, the limited funds available to the candidates for running their campaigns is greatly reduced. Since Independent Expenditure (IE) groups must now make up for the reduced funds needed by candidates to win, this means wealthy people will be able to more easily select the winners since wealthy people make up most or all of the IE groups. This reminds me of when Portland created rent control-- it only reduced supply and made rents climb even faster.

You know what would also be really nice, since so much is changing; is if you would do a Show, devoted to showing us exactly where the 4 Districts are; if our Voter Pamphlets will only list those names of those PPL running in OUR respective Districts, or are we going 2b inundated with ALL of them in Every Pamphlet & we then have to figure out who's from our Districts on our Own. Will they be mailed out based on zipcodes now, so we don't end up with massive over print of names & platforms we don't even need? OR perhaps, will we be allowed to vote on anyone from ANY District, even if we know little to nothing about the special desires of the different Districts? And well, you know, things like that. I mean, as of right now, i don't even know which District i will fit into & i feel pretty stupid for even asking about any of this!!

Ya this is crap and I think it’s unconstitutional at least 1 person 1 vote what’s stopping them from just changing it the way they want why bother voting

Please vote. I understand your frustration... but you chose not to vote, your protesting of the process does no good, because you have no voice at all. Don't be too upset to vote. That's what the people you disagree with want. Don't give them all that power.

Ranked voting is a mess of complication. Just vote for the ONE person you want to win and forget about the rest.

It's not too complicated. It's just new. There's going to be a learning curve, but we'll learn. Besides, if you want to you can still just vote for one.

I think “ranked choice voting” has been used in California for years so that conservatives candidates don’t stand a chance of winning. You basically get a choice of democratic candidates to choose from.

all ranked choice does is negate the effect of "spoiler" candidates. California doesn't use ranked choice for state elections, but some localities in California use RCV for municipal elections. RCV enables people to vote for who they feel best represents them without "wasting" their vote on a candidate that isn't likely to be elected. Not everything is a liberal conspiracy.

Sounds like your concern is that conservatives can only win if people are forced into voting for the lesser of two evils. That's not a very strong endorsement of conservative values and policy...

California does not have ranked choice voting, unfortunately. Of course conservative candidates are elected in California, but the amount is much smaller compared to Democrats because California is a blue state. This has nothing to do with voting being unfair.
