    It is what it is..A lightweight,compact mat made for mobile travel light angling.
    Big bulky thick mats would not fit that concept would they?😉

    Good fair comments Jon, not everyone would notice. Good job!

    If a fish flips off a unhooking mat is it the mats fault or the anglers ?

    • @CHUNKSTV
      @CHUNKSTV  3 года назад

      Its due to the matt being so hard that when it flips it has a base to flip if it was a crash type matt there isn't a base for it create movement

      I agree if you had hold of the fish right it ain’t the matts fault. ESP mat id banging I’ve had no problems

    Born n Bred mat with polly balls fitted or thinking anglers mat are the best two I have used without sides.The Chub xtra protection cradle mat best I have used with sides

    It definitely serves a purpose for certain types of angling but without honest reviews like this we could all buy something that isn't suitable to the places we fish.
    Good video as it will save many buying the product.that isn't what they need for them. 👍👍

    fair play for saying it's not up to the job jon, there was a bit of euphoria around when it was launched with lots of pre-orders going in. i had a look at my mates and decided it wasn't for me and for the same reasons, poor padding and sides😉

    Hi fair play for you honest opinion.
    I am looking for a mat/cradle.been looking at the fox easy mat,have you got eny recommendations??looking for lightweight easy carry.somthing I can take everywhere without getting pulled up about it.alot of lakes these days don't like flat mats so i need a new 1.what did you get in the end?

    • @CHUNKSTV
      @CHUNKSTV  Год назад +1

      Fox easy matt is a great choice John as its sound like everything you need. Myself ended up with a trakker cradle but it's a big old beast but does offer maximum protection.. tight lines

    thanks for this Jon made my mind up to avoid. Shame as I was looking for a more compact design for days/quick overnighters but I would rather have the extra bulk of a better mat than worry about the fish welfare (not that I catch many)

    • @chrisbelcher2561
      @chrisbelcher2561 3 года назад +2

      Disagree with this . . .I've got the Drennan Specialist (Compact) and for barbel / river fishing its a great bit of kit. Also use it for stalking / short floater sessions in the summer and have had carp up to and over 20lb in it no probs. IMO don't think either of these mats are designed for long sessions - they're more designed for the mobile angler who has to yomp across several fields to get to his quarry rather than barrow / session anglers where weight is less of an issue . . .
      Looking at this vid the quickdraw mech on the large version is not as effective as the smaller mat - the sides look too long to keep them upright under tension whereas on the smaller mat this is not the case.
      As for fish flapping off - what did we do before mats with sides / cradles were even created? (ie. flat mats) We got ourselves organized beforehand and never took our eyes off / left the fish prior to returning to the water . . . .simply good practice which should still be adhered to with these mats and any other . . .'jus sayin . . .;-)

    If you left a fish unattended on a mat you shouldn't be fishing
    And a carp should be in a retainer on your mat

    • @CHUNKSTV
      @CHUNKSTV  9 месяцев назад

      Never have but the mat was to hard and allowed the fish to be able to flip its not issue with my thinking angling matt

  • @tonysmall3863

    So in your opinion it’s not up to the job and you deem it unsafe so rather than destroy it you’ve sold it on fleabay for someone else to use and damage fish. 👏🏻👏🏻

    • @CHUNKSTV
      @CHUNKSTV  3 года назад

      My opinions are just that.its not saying the new owner will think it not fit for purpose as esp thought different as they sold it..

      Why would he destroy it! ESP have brought the mat the market! The same guy could just buy it from the shops anyway!
