As a former professionel concert pianist, I really don’t understand how she didn’t make the second round! She was one of the only pianists were the audience started their applause before the last note was released.. Hmm..

The observations Mazzel Tov made wrt her performance and his remarks about jury policies and duties were spot on and are proof of his professionalism. @@elb2801 What about the odd rubato in multiple places in Nikolay Khozyainov's performance? It was unusual to say the least. How is that different? I understand it's all subjective but Ms Igarashi was superb and deserved to go through.
I agree. My guess is that the judges didn't like her Etude interpretations. The Etudes lacked sensitivity. The Winter Wind was also somewhat choppy. Also a bit too loud in some sections.
@@rudy92036 I know - it’s just that I’m quite cynical about these competitions - after all, interpretation is basically subjective - I just think the winners tend to be people whose image or appearance will sell recordings. But maybe I’m wrong..

一次、通過せず驚きました。更に一次通過した方にも驚いた方がいました。
海外にいる音楽仲間達とふざけて一人一人、「yes」「no」をやって、
全員一致で「no」だった方が通過し、半分以上「yes」だった彼女が通過せず、
みんなで？？？となりました。
自分は五十嵐さん「yes」だったので、本当残念です。
私も五十嵐さん、『押し』だったのでショックでした。そして通過した方も『？？』でしたね。スケルツォ、凄くいい演奏でしたよね。豊かに歌っていたし…。私も今後の五十嵐さんに注目します。

うーん、手先が単に、開いただけ打鍵、になっちゃってたからかなぁ☝〜、第１関節も曲がったり、柔らかくないと、弾く時もそこが機能しないまま、だったりだからですかね？
