I love the way the heartbeat speeds up when you're inflicting damage to the Beast.
I just bought my very own Gorgar. I love the sound effects especially the heartbeat. Working on restoring the cabinet now. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Ronnie for getting Gorgar back talking and fixing all the switches that was not working. Since we bought the game home it has played great. The backglass looks better and it will not any worse. I love the pit shot and the spinner really rips well when hit. I am glad you enjoyed playing Gorgar, if you ever visit you are more than welcome to play it. Thanks again Ronnie Frank
Thanks Frank, it was really fun to work on, have fun with it!
This pin is super addictive! This is the first pin I bought. Reworked the body, painted it, the playfield turned out nicely after working on it. Still fighting the two solid leds of death from the mpu. Look forward to playing it again!
D&D in a pinball machine....ahhh the good ol days! How do you ever go home? I would be there all the time!
You know how that goes! Thank you for watching Shawn!
Hi from UK, I loved this video as I used own a Gorgar myself and spent many many hours playing it, it eventually got dilapidated and 10 years ago I sold it to someone who restored it..... I still miss it :)
You've still got the memories at least :) Thanks for watching gazzavfe!
I love the heartbeat I never seen a pinball machine like this It makes it like it’s alive
When this game first came out, a lot of the local arcades in my area would wire in a large stereo system speaker and mount it on top of the backbox. That way, you could hear the pin talk clearly over the din of video games.
Thanks for thoroughly reviewing the rules.
Thank you for watching Luis!
I saw a mid 70's Dodge van the other day that was painted with the same motif. Very Frazetta'esq
Ha! Always said it looked like van art.
I absolutely love the heartbeat. One my all time Williams games always wanted this one
I still emember when this game came out. My local mom and pop arcade got this in. I was 14 and blown away. I put many dollars in the machine. Had the high score a few times. Stayed on the machine for 3 weeks once. Yes, the high scoring was a plus with playing it. And if I remember correctly, space invaders was directly across from Gorgar!!
Gorgar was my fav back in the day….Used to play it on the boardwalk in Ocean City MD
Thank you for watching Dick!
@@LyonsArcade I wish you had shown more of the trace repair, although I understand what you did. I’m a fire alarm technician. We’re not allowed to do board level repairs, but the knowledge would be handy for obsolete hardware.
The sound on Gorgar is great. Eugene Jarvis really advanced sound design/FX and made it exciting. I believe Defender/Stargate used the System 6/7 boards too.
Yep, ya can hear the cool Defender sounds in most of Williams stuff.
@@andymouse And Robotron mixed in too. Williams had really cool sounds and they recycled them.
@@robertruge2916 yep
Yeah, those distinct Williams sounds still hold up in this age i think?
They really did some wizardry with that type of soundchip.
@@Doman2000 yep.
There’s the monster that ate all my quarters at the bowling alley ! Boy I’d love to have one.
They're around here and there still, I'd imagine over the years it was hard for anybody to throw one away, they're probably sitting around broken in people's storage here and there :) Thanks for watching Deborah!
@@LyonsArcade your right, it would be hard to shit can one of these. Love your work brother.
Nice oldchool game play😎👍
Yup, I love it!
Oh yes, I remember that one! Awesome.
Apparently the Gorgar brochure included a record of "Gorgar Speaks."
That's pretty cool, I might have to track one of those down...
@@LyonsArcade here is a link to the audio here on RUclips ruclips.net/video/Hcmdlzm1Tyw/видео.html It was a flexi disc "record."
That looked like so much fun friend, I used to love playing that game with my dad and sister back when it came out. This brought back alot of memories. We used to laugh so much when the game said "me hurt". The weird thing is if I had a million dollars I would have bet it and lost, that he says "gorgar hurt " but that's just how we remember things sometimes. I remember my palms sweating as the heartbeat sped up. Thanks a bunch man for playing this game and having fun with it, sure brightened my day 👍🙂
Thank you Joseph, this is the only one I've ever had in there may be another revision where he says Gorgar hurt, i'm not positive.... he does say Gorgar, so it would be simple for them to make that happen, maybe they changed it at some point one way or the other. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!!!
The game does say “You Hurt Gorgar” sometimes
@@kieferlayne right on man, thanks 👍
One of my top 5 favorites
Fun Fact. Probably 82 or so. Remote town in North Dakota. (Maddock) Had a bowling alley. Space invaders and Gorgar pinball. We found out(now that I know how they work) that the Gorgar was giving free games at 10K. (either dead battery or bad 5101) We played all day on the machine for 50 cents and then sold it for 2 dollars. Epic. Sorry Bowling Alley owner, I owe you some $$$
Man.. We had this machine in my local fish and chip shop in Port Noarlunga South, South Australia.. I gave this a great thrashing back in the day... Always remembered it and would be on my list of "would love to have"... Yeah and remember that Gooorgaaah.. Great job
Totally agree.
FLASH GORGAR SLIVERBALL MANIA STRIKES AND SPAIRS EAGHT BALL and EAGHT BALL DELUXE..
And yeah limping in BALLY'S and WILLIAMS together.
And also could say Stern has some great solid state pinball machines as well.
So glad you got gorgar talking again :). Also what a way to celebrate my birthday. Watching someone play a pinball machine
No better way to enjoy a birthday :) Happy 25th birthday, djlamar2!
Another great video Gorgar speaks again thanks to your handy work. Thanks for sharing. A true classic love that game. Have a great weekend.
I think the only reason Ron fixes the games is so he can play them. hahaha
I get a real kick out of it when he laughs during play.
It's great when we can work with what we love!
@@mcostafernando no kidding, I love test riding a bike when I get done working on it, it’s very gratifying
Loved the strategic pause there Ron! Not always great but always entertaining
You have a light out on the right bumper on the Williams 1979 Gorgar pinball
There's many other things wrong with it too if that's what you want to focus on, look closer you'll find all kinds of things you could bring up. Kind of sad you watched a 40 minute video and your only comment is the 1 thing you think you found wrong with it...
And if you notice there's a red light near gorgar face in the playfield that flashes with the heartbeat.
Oh my damn, I spent hours playing this one at the local arcade in 1979/1980ish. Got pretty decent, could get an hour out of one quarter on a good run, pinball was on the way out around then, Star Castle, Gorf, DK and Defender were my games.
Ive seen two of these for sale. One in Columbia, one in Charleston
They made a bunnnnch of them!
I seem to recall that "GORGAR SAYS: Wait until I stop talking before inserting coins!" card was put there as a kludge to get around a bug.
i went to play it when it came out and there was a line !
Great game! Thanks for staying up late and posting the gameplay. Reminds me of Centaur...what was up with that half monster half cycle dude? Freaky.
I was 21 years old 1979 to me it seems like yesterday
Time flies, we’re all right behind you man!
this definitely looks like a addicting game Lol
man it was really fun! A real classic.
I would love to find one
Cool video! 👍👍👍 I think that as a pinball player I'm on same level as you. BTW. Happy midsummer. We have right now the Midsummer party here In Finland. In Lapland is nightless night.
Happy Midsummer Petri547, we appreciate you watching our Finn friend!
Always liked Gorgar, it's simple by modern standards but it's a fun game. The fantasy art is kind of hilarious.
It's in incredible condition for it's age
Turning off the heartbeat on a GORGAR Pinball machine is just wrong.
Should be considered a Pinball gaming sin.
but I won't go that far.
It just adds to the gameplay.
Not only dose the heartbeat sound MUST be on this game really sounds good with a big powered subwoofer!
“One more game”
Gorgar in a nutshell
Very well designed... thank you for watching and subscribing Jeenkz!
Gorgar laughs when ball is stuck me got you
reminded me of the song from Helliween 👍🤣🤣
Is that the same band from Germany known as Helloween?
@@hulksmash8159 yes, i misspelled it. Sorry. It's the pinballmachine, Helloween inspired to their Song 'Gorgar'
@@maxmaier5243 Oh, I know, lol. All good, man!
Thanks for explaining the rules of the game. Always liked the creepiness of this game lol
I picked up one at the Pintastic Expo a few days ago. Waiting for it to arrive in St. John’s, NL, Canada 🇨🇦 woo!
Those custom apron cards are killer! 💀 👹
Where can I find those? Hopefully on Amazon to give you a Royalty.
Some of the sound effects are just about identical to Centaur from Bally - you'd just about think it was designed as a sequel. But I looked it up and the people involved seemed to have no connection between the 2 games insofar as design and creation.
Centaur probably just really liked the sounds :) It's an audible homage :) Thanks for watching Rybagz!
This one is in really great condition, apart from the typical back-glass issue.
Really cool speech. A great game overall.
Pinball should be all about having fun. Looks like you had fun with this one :).
Thanks Brendan, we appreciate you hanging out with us buddy. Wait till you see me play Defender....
Gorgar's sounds work well. Some of the early solid states were weak in my opinion. The KISS one is a good example of one I thought was just too "beepy"
Yeah the bally sounds are kind of classic, but they were/are not near as cool as the Williams of the same time period.
I must admit..... i don't hold a grudge against those new 7 segment displays. It looks cool....and since you can't keep the old displays forever... (unless you do not use it ever)
It is missing another sound that should gradually speed up more and more the longer you keep the ball. It makes the ame more intriguing and Gives you more adrenaline
I wonder if Gorgar is any relation to the 'Gorgon(s)'? Would explain the snakes imagery
Come on i want to see an Atari Hercules LOL
Yeah I'd love to get one!
I don't know if it's me..
But when all 3 balls drain it sounds like GORGAR says ME GORGAR BEAT MEAT?
I don't know I'll just blame the sound chip.
Sort of like on wizard of wor the arcade machine..
The wizard would say during the atrack screen.
" I NEEK A IZZARD OF FLOOR"
It's just funny to misinterpret it.
Interesting that they used the KISS font on the instructions
A shame that the posts that are supposed to be next the the inlane guide have been switched over to the outlane wall. Kind of cheating there. :D
Anything else you saw that you want to complain about?
Aha yes..., i was wondering why it was so forgiving with the outlanes.
I still remember the frustration with that when i played it. lol
@@Doman2000 I played that classic at King's Island in the 80's.
@@LyonsArcade I'll put out an advertisement in advance if I do lol.
Not gargoyles.. Imps..
Gorgar hurt
