I like a Barnsley chop but I'm a peasant and like it well done 😶 £25 is a bit pricey. Chips in a pot and not many of them. Extra for gravy ??? Madness. I like a bit of mint sauce with my lamb. Rocket and watercress is a food that my food eats. Too expensive to get bad chips 🍟. 13% service charge is not right. Hi Andrew, you should always have any meat the way you like it. Extra for gravy not good and I would have preferred new potatoes. Your right about the service charge, it seems to be creeping into all restaurants. Thank you for watching and commenting really appreciated 👍
Out of all the places you’ve visited recently I think I’d give that one a bodyswerve. It looked nice inside but charging extra for gravy and no mint sauce is a bit stingy, Some veg would be nice too, rather than the strange looking watercress. Bit pricey for what you got in my opinion.
All he had to.do.was ask them if they have mint sauce. And if then they don't then complain directly to them. Simple ....as sometimes serving staff overlook the side sauces. I go to so many places mid range and high end and I'm surprised how regular I have to ask the server if they have etc etc ...
Your comment is right but I would recommend going to the pub for a drink at least as it really is full of history. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Evening Gary - looking forward to this as always. / Wow - well the plate of food looks excellent !1 / Agree re mint sauce - it would be a must have for me ! / I think £30 for your plate of food is on the high end of value ! Mark.
Good review gary. Think it was a bit expensive though. The lamb looked good but not a lot of meat on it. Your being generous giving it a 7. Thanks for your honest review👍👍
Another great video - you've definitely hit your stride now - the videos are informative and very enjoyable to watch - very nice and they are natural, not finely edited to ruin them. What a fabulous building - wow.
i think they should have included the gravy as part of the course and some mint sauce if you wanted it and the chip portion was too small for me £30 was a bit much
Hi Gary, thanks for another great review. I do think your rating was spot on, 7/10 may even be a bit generous given the price…especially without a drink and £2 for gravy. Est 1867….you would have thought it was sufficient time to get the chips right 🤷🏽♂️. I agree with you, definitely mint sauce with lamb.
Another great review, and been here a few times when in Manchester! Made me laugh when you said how much the chop and gravy was twice-you didn't forget Gary lol You could of nibbled on the chop bone-I wouldn't of minded 👍🏻
Gary - loving your videos. Keep doing what you are doing. As a London-based Belfastian, if you do make it across the water this year, great if you have a look at the Belfast food scene (and pubs !).
Lovely video chap, I’ve been in that pub and also Sam’s chophouse…beautiful traditional old ale pubs….love them. The Barnsley chop and gravy looked very scrumptious 👌👌 and yes I would nibbled on the bone 😂 u payed 4 it. The price £30 doesn’t surprise me ( not cheap) but if u enjoyed it..👌👌
I used to use the Chop house in the 1960s ,it was more of a "pubby" atmosphere in those days , the food is quite good but the chip portion was not big and it seems strange to be charged for gravy, the plate lacked a veg. By the way it is perfectly acceptable to pick up meat on the bone and have a good gnaw!
Who cares what other eaters think. You should have followed your instincts and gnawed into that lovely chop Gary! I would have chewed into the bone and sucked out its marrow! I learned that from watching my late Labrador Bryan who could demolish any bone. The best Barnsley chop I ever ate was 50 years ago at the newly opened Brooklands Restaurant in Barnsley at a former lorry halt. The Daily Telegraph reported Londoners driving up the M1 every night for their chops. My little Triumph Vitesse was surrounded by Bentleys and Daimlers that night! Checking their website shows they charge £40 plus for a chop nowadays. You got a good deal in Manchester. Another very enjoyable review as usual. You are one of the very few cheerful people on RUclips. Please keep it up. Good luck oop North, Philip.
Hello Phillip thanks for bringing a little bit of history really appreciated. The pub itself was lovely and so was my lamb chop. Thank you for your kind words and enjoy the rest of the weekend 👍
The chop had me drooling but I would expect to be full up for that money, so in my estimation Gary you were generous with the score as I would have felt robbed paying for that.
Another excellent review, thanks Gary! I think places are getting a bit cheeky with these added on service charges. I decline them now and tip what I like to think is a fair amount to the waiters.
Great review Gary, thank you. As you say a chop house with only one chop is poor ( no pork chops ?) and no mint sauce is unforgivable ! Your watercress was rocket ! I would have complained about that as I love watercress but hate the taste of rocket. The chop was nicely cooked - Barnsley chop a good northern dish ! The meal looked OK but I thought it was very expensive. Your 7 score was spot on 👍
Another good review Gary. The watercress looked more like rocket to me though. The building is fabulous but the meal seemed overpriced for what you had and paying an extra £2 for gravy is absurd but unfortunately it’s something which seems to be creeping into many restaurants. Just add it to the pricing of the meal for goodness sake!
Good evening Gary hope you didn't get too cold up in Manchester. The restaurant/pub looks really unusual. The chop looked great but I do like my mint sauce with lamb. Then you said that on line after I wrote that. Hope you don't mind me saying Gary but the green stuff looked like Rocket to me not watercress! I use to have a house in Alresford Hampshire where watercress is grown and that didn't look like watercress to me. Fair score Gary as bit pricey I thought! Thank you for great vlog as always really enjoyed my Saturday night vlog. Sue
Were you informed about the service charged ahead of ordering?? Because I'm poor, everything sounds too expensive. For the cost I'd expect more chips, or a medium or large option on the menu, both priced equally, so if you only want a handful of chips, at least theres the option to stop food wastage, but to be frugel with potatoes, a reasonably cheap ingredient is just mean.
I wasn’t informed but I now understand it’s at the bottom of the menu. London portions when it comes to chips, I would have preferred new potatoes. Thanks for watching and commenting Phil really appreciated 😊👍
Such a funny old fashioned term isn't it.... 'chop house'! Such a great old world venue too. It sets a mood. I agree it would make more sense to be serving more chops! 😄 The lamb looked good but it's almost a crime not to offer mint sauce with it! Chips weren't too special and a bit sparse for my liking. Heck no, NOT rude to use your fingers and chew on that bone! I'd have just loved to know what was on offer when the chop house first opened in 1867! I bet no meal then cost anywhere near £27. Mr Thomas will be turning in his grave.... Maybe you are a little generous with the score given that high cost!
Gary location and pub looked great. Chop looked great but only one choice it's a chop house. Hardly any chips and you said they were poor anyway. Very expensive for what was on the plate. Considering the price, I thought your mark was generous.
*A fair and thorough review of this Chophouse 🙌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻* I noticed earlier in the video, knew what I was noticing and you particularly stipulated it in your summing up- the sauce ! Noticed how well it covered everything and I thought- wow, that is great indication of a good sauce. The final score is a respectable one because you look at it collectively- service, presentation, taste, quality, the cooking and the all important final bill. Indeed, there are some things in the food world that are and have to be together. Lamb and mint is one but that’s my opinion. A local restaurant serves amazing Barnsley lamb chops. It’s an old unmodernised place but the food is good. Have not been there for a few years but the chef gives two of those chops, homemade potatoes of choice, peas, mushrooms and a side salad for roughly 17/18 pounds. With a mint, rosemary and red wine cream sauce and I’ve never had anything so good. Loved this Gary…brilliant
Thanks for your brilliant comment, I’m pleased you liked the review. I like to put my mint sauce in the gravy and serve. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 👍
I visited Mr Thomas's Chop House fifteen or so years ago. At that time they had steak and kidney pudding on the menu. One of the finest things I've eaten. But, sadly, it's no longer served. I see they now do a steak and ale pie. But, in my book, a steak pie can't compare with a steak pudding! Very disappointing that that the triple cooked chips were dry and lacked crunch. If triple cooked chips are on the menu, expectations are raised and they need to be right.
The chop looked smaller than expected, however, don’t know why the rocket was on the plate, got to be a few veg with lamb. Quite expensive though, think I’ll give it a miss if in Manchester.
They really are taking the p. Yes the lamb loked perfect and the gravy magnificent, but these are the kind of prices you'd pay at the Savoy. You're always so polite and I envy your calm, Gary! Great channel and it's deservedly growing massively so fast! Thoroughly enjoyable, as always, thank you 😊👌
Another lovely review, Gary. The pub looked beautiful, but..£27 for a bit of lamb and a few mediocre chips and then they have the audacity to add 13% service charge??! You’re too bloody nice, Gary! That would have been a 7/10 if it was £20 with a drink thrown in. For what you paid, I’d rate it a 5/10. But that’s just me being a tight git. Cheers, mate!
London-Tax making its way Up-Norf aka chips taxes and service charges. Think Blacklock as an actual chophouse holds its own IMO. Maybe you need to visit Hawksmoors? Another great review Gary.
(52) Ah, its a chop cut from a whole saddle of lamb. Interesting. Personally, I'm a mint sauce snob when it comes to lamb. Disappointed there was no interesting cooked yellow and green vege to go with, especially with it costing 25 quid.
Pop up to Liverpool Gary!! Some great places to eat here and only down the road!! You’re the best!! Keep up the great work my man and I’m so pleased the channel continues to grow!! 🙏❤️.x
I saw the service charge warning on the menu you showed us - you were too busy trying to ignore the mushroom risotto :-) I think it's a bit expensive - you seemed peckish after all that.
The menu merely said that a discretionary service charge may be added. No indication of how much it was. It was also stuck behind allergy info, so I can see people stop reading if they don't have any allergies.
@@aapje Absolutely - I was scanning for a % sign, saw none, and read the fine print. Maybe they didn't like Gary, and they usually waive it :-), but what percentage do we expect?
Dear Gary, I am fairly new to your channel, but I have enjoyed every single review that I have seen. Your videos are nice and relaxed, and it feels like sitting down for a good meal with an old friend every time I watch one of them. I worked in the UK when I was a young lad, but haven't been back there since 2001 (gosh, time flies). After watching your content, I'm trying to convince my wife to go there for our next holiday. Thank you for a great channel. Keep up the good work. Kindest regards, Fred
That is so kind Fred and I really appreciate you watching and commenting it really means a lot to me. Thank you also for your kind words and hope you come over for a visit soon 👌
But bear in mind the quality and how well the lamb was cooked, a little overpriced and the dreaded service charge seems to be coming into all establishments which isn’t good. Enjoy the rest of the weekend 👍
Great review as ever Gary. A traditional English Chophouse serves meat on the bone - steak, pork and grills. Given the history its disappointing that it has just one authentic dish on menu...no respect for tradition...and much too expensive...you didn't even have a Mancurian ale to wash it all down.
Great vid, and nice timing! I"m in Manchester next week. I'm planning to check out the new Hawksmoor, but if I wasn't, I'd give this place a bash. I love restaurants with history.
I'd have given that a a 7 too. Triple-cooked chips often disappoint in my opinion and are a fad I hope disappears. As you say, Gary, a Barnsley chop never gives quite enough meat on it own, and I feel the gravy shouldn't count as an extra cost. Perhaps a place trading on its history a little too much?
Triple cooked chip just means boiled, fried to soften and then fried a final time to crisp up. It works a treat when done right and is really more commonplace than people realise. Looks to me like this place just completely screwed them up though as they should have been far more crispy than that
Im the same, Lamb with mint sauce is a must.....thought it a bit strange they call themselves a chop house but dont have a choice or selection of chop, like a chop of the week ! Great review, and i must say your certainly putting in work on your channel and getting out there !
What is myth that city's up north are cheap. Posh restraunts are expensive everywhere. I lived in London as a student for about 7 years, unless your an idiot and eating out in Central London, the rest of London is fairly reasonable. Most Londoners (unless for work reasons) avoid Central London all together. When I lived their I had Wimpy's made meals at home or had Chineese take aways. The Chineese take aways were similar in price to here in Wales. Why not come to Wales Gary??
Hi Gary. Been watching your videos since before Christmas and imagine my delight to see you turn up at the very pub I had five wonderful years of my life working at! It's a special place in Manchester is Tom's. Although in general the food has always been of a good standard it annoys me that even ten years after I left the chips are STILL not up to scratch!! Thanks for bringing a piece of home to an ex-pat (although I'll be home in a couple of weeks for a bit and I'll be straight in there as soon as I land!!). All the best good sir.
Thanks Gary. As always - I watched your video whilst I was having my lunch. I think your review was very fair and balanced. I probably would have gone with 6.5 rather 7, because - they only offered one chop, the chips were dry / small portion and it was very expensive for what it was. I definitely want to give Blacklock a go though. Looked great.
You're very welcome@@GaryEats - just two requests... don't change your approach - it's great ; keep the videos coming. I'd love to go on a 'Gary Eats' UK tour... or at least try a couple of the places you've visited. My wife definitely wants to go to Blacklock

Lovely venue Gary, credit for preserving heritage. I think you've been very generous with your review score. If I had been served lamb without mint sauce it would be a lifetime first and attract a two point deduction. Likewise, being charged seperately for gravy would be a lifetime first and attract a further two point deduction. Disappointing chips is another point off so, for me, it would be a maximum 5.
That you for watching and commenting David, blimey your a harsh reviewer, you didn’t make a deduction for service charge. The lamb was quality and the ambiance of the pub amazing which in fairness you don’t get everywhere, maybe we agree on a 6.5 ?. Enjoy the rest of the weekend 👍

I've been watching you for a while Gary, lovely to see you in my home town. So much history around there. Plenty of other places to visit. Nice one 👍🏻
Loved Manchester Simon, a few more videos to come 👍
Thank you Simon. More to come!!
Out of all the places you’ve visited recently I think I’d give that one a bodyswerve. It looked nice inside but charging extra for gravy and no mint sauce is a bit stingy, Some veg would be nice too, rather than the strange looking watercress. Bit pricey for what you got in my opinion.
A rip off joint
Mark.
Agreed Mark. Thanks for watching!
Good review gary. Think it was a bit expensive though. The lamb looked good but not a lot of meat on it. Your being generous giving it a 7. Thanks for your honest review👍👍
Thanks for watching, maybe a little generous on my end 👍
Another great video - you've definitely hit your stride now - the videos are informative and very enjoyable to watch - very nice and they are natural, not finely edited to ruin them. What a fabulous building - wow.
Mucha appreciated :)
i think they should have included the gravy as part of the course and some mint sauce if you wanted it and the chip portion was too small for me £30 was a bit much
Agree completely Dave 👍
thanks Gary ,another interesting video for us to watch
Thank you Malcolm 👍
Certaintly wouldn't pay that price for what you got Gary..It was basically 2 lamb chops joined together..sooo mean with the chips...😊
Plus charging extra for gravy Christine not good.
Thank you Virgil I think you are right a bit generous on this one 👍
I was unaware of the existence of 'Chophouses' . Enjoyed the video 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 👍
Another great review, and been here a few times when in Manchester!
Made me laugh when you said how much the chop and gravy was twice-you didn't forget Gary lol
You could of nibbled on the chop bone-I wouldn't of minded 👍🏻
As you say you would have thought there would be more options for Chops I love mint sauce on my lamb . Love the inside of the pub
Was a lovely pub Ian with excellent standards 👍
Hi Gary hope your well the lamb chop looked wonderful red wine gravy is my son's favourite it has beautiful flavour great review as always
Hope you are well too Shane.
Thank you Gary if you come to Ireland I've a wonderful place for you to try and of course cameraman best wishes to you all
Gary - loving your videos. Keep doing what you are doing. As a London-based Belfastian, if you do make it across the water this year, great if you have a look at the Belfast food scene (and pubs !).
I certainly will be going to Belfast can’t wait 👍
Lovely video chap, I’ve been in that pub and also Sam’s chophouse…beautiful traditional old ale pubs….love them. The Barnsley chop and gravy looked very scrumptious 👌👌 and yes I would nibbled on the bone 😂 u payed 4 it. The price £30 doesn’t surprise me ( not cheap) but if u enjoyed it..👌👌
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for always watching and commenting really appreciated 👍
@@GaryEats your very welcome chap….
I was trying to be good lol.
The chop had me drooling but I would expect to be full up for that money, so in my estimation Gary you were generous with the score as I would have felt robbed paying for that.
me too and I eat like a sparrow,
Indeed Mick. Have to agree with you.
Another excellent review, thanks Gary! I think places are getting a bit cheeky with these added on service charges. I decline them now and tip what I like to think is a fair amount to the waiters.
Well done Adam totally right, thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Great review Gary, thank you. As you say a chop house with only one chop is poor ( no pork chops ?) and no mint sauce is unforgivable ! Your watercress was rocket ! I would have complained about that as I love watercress but hate the taste of rocket. The chop was nicely cooked - Barnsley chop a good northern dish ! The meal looked OK but I thought it was very expensive. Your 7 score was spot on 👍
Thank you. No mint sauce shockingly bad but not the end of the world. Sorry for getting the rocket wrong 😑 however a great chop 👍
Absolutely agree about the mint sauce and lamb together. The mint sauce compliments the lamb brilliantly. Great review as always Gary
Thanks Daniel!
@@GaryEats You're welcome
Another good review Gary. The watercress looked more like rocket to me though. The building is fabulous but the meal seemed overpriced for what you had and paying an extra £2 for gravy is absurd but unfortunately it’s something which seems to be creeping into many restaurants. Just add it to the pricing of the meal for goodness sake!
Ditto, re the rocket
Your assessment is completely correct Margaret. 👌
Sue
Wasn't too bad actually Sue. Thank you - always happy that you enjoyed the video.
Yes agreed Gary must have mint sauce, yes a 7 about right but extra for gravy & service charge is a bit much great review thanks for sharing
Perfect comment Lee. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for watching! Maybe a tad generous.
Great call on Blacklock, love that place. Spot on with the mint sauce, that is a major oversight. The service charge is outrageous.
Totally agree love Blacklock top draw 👍
Blacklock is absolutely superb.
Gary location and pub looked great. Chop looked great but only one choice it's a chop house. Hardly any chips and you said they were poor anyway. Very expensive for what was on the plate. Considering the price, I thought your mark was generous.
It was a good chop brilliantly cooked in a lovely pub, maybe a little generous 👍
Hi Gary, I really love watching your channel. Very relaxing
Thanks so much!!
*A fair and thorough review of this Chophouse 🙌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻*
I noticed earlier in the video, knew what I was noticing and you particularly stipulated it in your summing up- the sauce !
@@GaryEats same to you.
It is a joy to watch decent honest food reviews- an odyssey of which I look forward to seeing each time. Tc
Great choice Gary one of my favorite places in Manchester when we lived there.
Brilliant. Thanks Mark!
I've also experienced the steak and kidney pudding in there a few years ago. Absolutely superb, as was the gravy.
They don’t do this anymore? Wow not been in for a few years but that’s crazy best thing on the menu
Shame to hear they no longer serve them.
Yeah, I would have to ask for the mint Gary, looked a very tasty chop!....cheers.
Thanks 👍
The chop looked smaller than expected, however, don’t know why the rocket was on the plate, got to be a few veg with lamb.
Quite expensive though, think I’ll give it a miss if in Manchester.
It was rocket and not watercress as I said Richard, if I were you I’d go for a drink as it’s a lovely pub 👌
They really are taking the p. Yes the lamb loked perfect and the gravy magnificent, but these are the kind of prices you'd pay at the Savoy. You're always so polite and I envy your calm, Gary! Great channel and it's deservedly growing massively so fast! Thoroughly enjoyable, as always, thank you 😊👌
A bit too pricy. Thanks for watching! Means a lot.
Cheers, mate!
no it isn't, the quality and portion size has to match the price, that's a 3/10 for me for 30 quid
Thank you. No problem at all, I think I perhaps got this one wrong.
Yet again a joy to watch Gary.
Thank you for watching and commenting Paul really appreciated 👍
I'd be wrestling between the crispy pork and corned beef hash - for nearly 30 quid, chop n chips needs a proper portion of chips
Or some nice new potatoes or mashed potatoes Frank. Love corn beef hash.
London-Tax making its way Up-Norf aka chips taxes and service charges.
Think Blacklock as an actual chophouse holds its own IMO.
Maybe you need to visit Hawksmoors?
Another great review Gary.
Blacklock is an institution when it comes to chops, I am going to Hawksmoor very soon, can’t wait 😛
(52) Ah, its a chop cut from a whole saddle of lamb. Interesting. Personally, I'm a mint sauce snob when it comes to lamb. Disappointed there was no interesting cooked yellow and green vege to go with, especially with it costing 25 quid.
It was available but with an extra cost. Agree it should come all in.
Pop up to Liverpool Gary!! Some great places to eat here and only down the road!!
You’re the best!! Keep up the great work my man and I’m so pleased the channel continues to grow!!
🙏❤️.x
Thank you!! I will do.
I think you are being generous Gary….such a disappointment that these establishments can’t even provide a decent chip…..
I would give it a 6.5 out of 10 given the £30 price tag it’s a rip off.
Fair enough Maureen :)
great review Gary good to see you out of London.... 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it Graham thanks for watching 👌
The watercress looks like a rucola/rocket salad. Little side note English is not me first language 😅
No problem, your English is superb.
I saw the service charge warning on the menu you showed us - you were too busy trying to ignore the mushroom risotto :-)
I think it's a bit expensive - you seemed peckish after all that.
Lol you’re probably right, service charge should never be added, I do not mind paying service charge when it’s deserved. Maybe they didn’t like me 🤔
@@GaryEats Apparently they just add it and only remove or lower it when you are assertive.
Dear Gary,
I am fairly new to your channel, but I have enjoyed every single review that I have seen.
Kindest regards,
Fred
That is so kind Fred and I really appreciate you watching and commenting it really means a lot to me. Thank you also for your kind words and hope you come over for a visit soon 👌
Gary - I live in Manchester, I could have told you this ain't the cheapest place to eat !
Well it’s a little bit late now lol. Other places to come which are better value for money 💰👍
Great review. Will give that place I try as I love lamb. Drenching those tcc’s in gravy woulda helped. But the chop looked amazing.
Thanks 👍
Dry chips, rocket on its own with no dressing and no mint sauce😮
Very poor, a tourist trap
Appalling, absolutely appalling.
But bear in mind the quality and how well the lamb was cooked, a little overpriced and the dreaded service charge seems to be coming into all establishments which isn’t good. Enjoy the rest of the weekend 👍
People must start refusing to pay the guilt trip service charge. And give cash to the server , as tipping was intended
Your always make me hungry,, keep it up,, love it
Thank you 😋
Great review as ever Gary. A traditional English Chophouse serves meat on the bone - steak, pork and grills. Given the history its disappointing that it has just one authentic dish on menu...no respect for tradition...and much too expensive...you didn't even have a Mancurian ale to wash it all down.
Much appreciated Norman.
Great vid, and nice timing! I"m in Manchester next week. I'm planning to check out the new Hawksmoor, but if I wasn't, I'd give this place a bash. I love restaurants with history.
It’s perfect as a pub… enjoy Hawksmoor and please let me know how good it was, going to one in London very soon 👍
@@GaryEats Looking forward to that vid. The London Hawksmoors are all brilliant, if not cheap!
Looks to me like this place just completely screwed them up though as they should have been far more crispy than that
I’m really pleased we agree, definitely not the extra charge for the gravy.
Im the same, Lamb with mint sauce is a must.....thought it a bit strange they call themselves a chop house but dont have a choice or selection of chop, like a chop of the week ! Great review, and i must say your certainly putting in work on your channel and getting out there !
Thank you Stevo. Yes, one chop was not enough.
Thought you were still in London with those prices!!
Me too Paul but more places to come which I believe was value for money 💰
Expensive....But looked sooooo good, lamb is my absolute fave. Made my mouth water....well done.
Thank you again love lamb 😊
Incredible will power, Gary to not nibble on that bone. Plenty of people (me) would have 😂
Lol!!
7/10 seems a fair score. I guessed either 6 or 7. Love your reviews Gary 😊
Thanks for watching and commenting really appreciated 👌
So when will you be in Dublin 🤔
Around March. Just in time for St Patrick’s Day ☘️
I’m really pleased I brought back happy memories, the pub itself is absolutely amazing. Really pleased you like the videos.
I'm pretty sure that if you asked for mint sauce you
would have been given some!
Did ask but not available 👍
Thanks Gary. As always - I watched your video whilst I was having my lunch. I think your review was very fair and balanced. I probably would have gone with 6.5 rather 7, because - they only offered one chop, the chips were dry / small portion and it was very expensive for what it was. I definitely want to give Blacklock a go though. Looked great.
Can’t argue to much, I was thinking 6.5 myself but loved the pub. Thanks for watching and commenting really appreciated Simon 👍
You're very welcome@@GaryEats - just two requests... don't change your approach - it's great ; keep the videos coming. I'd love to go on a 'Gary Eats' UK tour... or at least try a couple of the places you've visited. My wife definitely wants to go to Blacklock
Thanks Simon. You will both love Blacklock.
That doesn't look like watercress to me? More like rocket?
👍🏼👍🏼 Indeed. The menu threw me off, I did think so after the hint of pepper.
Good stuff Gaz. I absolutely adore a Barnsley chop but them chips were an after thought slightly over priced maybe but the surroundings were very much worth it in my opinion. Keep up the brilliant content pal 👍🏼
Cheers mate. Much appreciated.
Seems like a lot of your hard earned to pay for a chop and chips in the provinces, mate,👍😎
It certainly was but lots more coming from Manchester which is very well priced.👍
I know it wan't the highest scroe but just from watching this video I'm definately going there if I can get to Manchester. Looks a great place and you've opened my eyes to what sort of thing is there.
You should as it’s an exceptional pub. 👍
You seem peaceful please run for PM would be a nice change from the war mongers
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ridiculous comment

I'm sure he's a peaceful chap, but he's always struck me as ex military, travelled a bit knows his stuff. I'm probably wrong.
Not ex military haha.
Hi Gary, fair review for the meal you had. I go there regularly for a hearty lunch, you've missed the signature dish! The corned beef hash is outstanding, definitely worth a revisit.
I saw that on the menu and love corn beef hash but in a chop house I guess you have to try the chop, excellent pub 👍
Hi gary great review I've been for a drink in there its a great place tto chill out.i agree with your score if you would like to try indian food a place called this and that on soap st northern quarter is excellent. Well done 👍
Lovely pub and keep watching for your recommendation 👌
Great honest review Gary, been there a few times and only 10 minutes from me 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Gaz thank you for watching 👍
Maybe I’m being grumpy but I don’t see this place ever reaching the standard of Blacklock which they should aspire to. They need to be aware of customer expectations and they clearly aren’t.
That’s fair enough.
Thank you Gary, that Lamb was mouthwatering! The chips rubbish, love Rocket. Overall a fair meal but too costly!! Smiles to you both from Cyprus. 😋😋🤗🤗
If I was doing this now, I would mark lower as it wasn’t the very best Jacqui ❤️
@@GaryEats 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Another review 😊 thank you so much. I'm glad you eventually got to Manchester. The meal looked nice, but a bit of a steep price tag and a service charge 😮 , as always, as always, an honest review ❤😊
Thanks for watching Trudy!
Gary, for that money I would have expected a four legged friend on the plate great review as usual top man.
Lol thanks Ralph 👍
Wonderful camera work! Expensive meal for what you received and nothing nastier than dry chips.
Best regards from Tasmania.
Excellent cameraman thank you for that, not good chips 🍟👍
Hi Anne. Great to see you commenting again - thank you.
A very fair review Gary. The Barnsley chop and red wine gravy looked delicious, pity the chips weren’t up to top quality. The bill seemed a little pricey. Otherwise, many thanks for sharing with us. Glad you managed to get up to Manchester. See you soon 👍👍👍
Thank you Andrea. You are more than welcome. Have a lovely weekend 😊
Another great review, lamb looked amazing. But I wouldn't of touched those chips, looked awful. Very very expensive, but it is Manchester. Keep up the superb videos 👍👍👍
Thanks Andrew.
