Chesnaught will return in Gen 9, and it will have the most important buff of all: being able to legally exist in a Friend Ball to demonstrate that even if it's spiky, it's still very friend-shaped.
It’s a really strange thing to say, but Chesnaught has to be in the top 5 bald Pokémon of all time, right next to Torkoal and Dugtrio. Hopefully it’s hair grows back someday.
Chesnaught has a special place in my heart. I hatched a shiny Chespin the day my nephew was born, so I named it after him. I decided that I was going to raise it to be the best it could be and eventually give it to my nephew once he started his own Pokemon journey. Sadly, Dexit messed up those plans, and I lost the game that was holding him
Never understood why people hate this evo line so much, I always loved it, very unique and interesting designs. Chesnaught was always a fun bulky spiker to use, just absorbing physical hits and being annoying with Leech Seed Spiky Shield, despite its many weaknesses
i loved cheshnaught, i do think it had stiff competition in the trio, greninja being one of the most popular pokemon with loads of love. delphox for um reasons. but loved all designs their classic RPG party look and the double type triangle with each other

12:17 Considering the theming of Chesnaught as the 'Fighter', a build like this genuinely makes him feel like a tank setting up their damage dealers for a clean victory. Hell, most of the builds tend to be like this, which is absolutely delightful! Chesnaught was an absolute bro on teams, it seems.
Greninja may have been one of Kalos’s superstars, my favorite starter from that region has always been Chesnaught. He was the (Spiky) shield of my team.
I wonder how helpful Close Combat will be for its battle style. Granted, it's found success before with Superpower, which is inferior. Wide Guard should be interesting though, especially considering the heavy emphasis on VGC in this current generation.
Good to see that Chesnaught had several good niches even if most of them were rather temporary. It has several problems in battle - but it is very well designed to represent the warrior class since warriors also have some glaring weaknesses that can be taken advantage off pretty easily. When using it in game I always felt like it was a true warrior both in a good way and a bad way. At least it's not a "mage" archetype unable to use ice beam or thunderbolt when fire, ice and lighting are the three basic elements for literally any mage anywhere.
I really wish Chesnaught was in Gen 9 by the time of making this video because it got some really good buffs. Not only in the form of Body Press, Trailblaze, and Close Combat, but also Terastalization, which fixes a lot of issues with it’s weakness filled typing. And on top of that, there’s no more Scald for Water Types to cripple it with.
Chesnaught is super interesting in my opinion, because while he does have a lot of the unstoppable physical attacker energy that a warrior-class character would have, he has a shocking amount of supportive and defensive options as well, like Taunt, Helping Hand, Spikes, both Wide Guard and Quick Guard, Synthesis, Leech Seed, Feint, and even Pain Split. And especially with the Gen 9 additions, he has a surprising amount of variety of set. I bet he'd be quite effective as a bulky Assault Vest sweeper with Trailblaze and Body Press, but we'll see.
As my first starter in X&Y, Chesnaught had always had a special place for me. His combination of strong fighting type moves helped clean through most of X and Y. Especially in the same gen as Gren, he definitely needs more love.

I remembered almost not getting Chespin, because then I can't get Bulbasaur in Pokemon X. But on one playthrough, I picked the Chespin line. Out of the three 6th gen starters, Chesnaught was my favorite to use. I was always a fan of the slow but bulky starters that can hit hard, like Venusaur, Feraligatr, Swampert, Torterra and Emboar. I just wished I can use it alongside Venusaur. Sure, redundant Grass types, but hey I just want them both in my team.
I came here to see love for Chesnaught. I wanted to see what would become of Chespin since Fennekin didn't work out. I always assumed Greninja outshined the other starters even if Chesnaught is a great counter against it. I really loved it design when it evolved from Quilladin and I can't wait for the day I can use my Shiny Chespin in Violet and slap Trailblaze and body press on it.

I feel like there should be some clause to save Pokémon like Chesnaught from its Gen 7 fate, or Gen 5 Venusaur: if the thing that made them viable in a tier gets banned, the Pokémon can be dropped to a lower tier. Chesnaught was used solely to counter Bisharp, who then got banned, so Chesnaught should be let back into RU.
@@Bluecrimson217 Pretty sure Electivire doesn't count. It was face value viable and then fell out of a favor once its weaknesses were understood to be everywhere. Seeing how Chesnaught and friends were designed after table top classes, they each should've been giving an ability like moxie but raises multiple stats like an actual level up when they get a ko. I doubt it would break them but it would've been a nice touch
Chesnaught is my favorite gen 6 starter and after doing some consideration on a recent "challenge" (or whatever they're called) I'd have one if I were an 8th gym leader fighting-type in the Pokemon World - possibly also E4.
The Kalos starters represent the "Classic" RPG characters: Chestnaught being the Fighter/Warrior focused on Melee and Tanking Delphox being the Magician focused on dealing dmg via Magic preferably from afar Greninja being the Rogue focusing on striking fast, hard and retreat after the deed was done (via U-Turn) :P And the Stealth trheme was covered by Greninja being a literal Ninja hehe

Chesnaught was used solely to counter Bisharp, who then got banned, so Chesnaught should be let back into RU.
What, and risk letting Electivire have a tier where it's relevant?
@@Bluecrimson217 Pretty sure Electivire doesn't count. It was face value viable and then fell out of a favor once its weaknesses were understood to be everywhere. It didn't raise up from a lower tier to counter something and then get stuck in the higher tier once that counter niche was gone, unless I'm forgetting something.
chesnaught will always be the best starter for me, it was the first ever shiny starter ive ever legitimately had
Chesnaught was my favorite starter. He gets completely overshadowed by furry bait and meta frog.
My first Pokémon he’s finally returning!
My very First starter. Very Happy to finally See my man on this channel
One of my top 10 favorites probably.
I have been hoping for this video for ages
Seeing how Chesnaught and friends were designed after table top classes, they each should've been giving an ability like moxie but raises multiple stats like an actual level up when they get a ko. I doubt it would break them but it would've been a nice touch
Chesnaught was the first pokemon i bothered to get to level 100. Def an underrated starter
Chesnaught is one of my favorite mons!
YOU FINALLY DID MY FAVORITE POKÉMON! HUZZAH!!!
Chesnaught is my favorite gen 6 starter and after doing some consideration on a recent "challenge" (or whatever they're called) I'd have one if I were an 8th gym leader fighting-type in the Pokemon World - possibly also E4.
Finally, my boy.
Love it when a Pokemon ends up having some niche in Ubers even if it's a lower tier Pokemon otherwise
The Kalos starters represent the "Classic" RPG characters:
Chestnaught being the Fighter/Warrior focused on Melee and Tanking
Delphox being the Magician focused on dealing dmg via Magic preferably from afar
Greninja being the Rogue focusing on striking fast, hard and retreat after the deed was done (via U-Turn) :P And the Stealth trheme was covered by Greninja being a literal Ninja hehe
FINALLY MY DAYS OF ASKING ARE OVER!
Isn't it crazy that in gen 6, the DEBUT OF MEGAS, only one pokemon (a mythical) from there has a mega
YES THE BEST GRASS STARTER GETS A VIDEO
A singular Chesnaught T-posing on the thumbnail is everything I needed today
body press iron defense chesnaught is soooo good rn
He's very underrated, I am team Greninja but always rooted for Chesn so I'm glad he found some use in the lower tiers, I think he can be ok in UU and excellent in RU once it gets added to SV.
This has to be my new favorite video. Chesnaught has sure had a wild right and I hope to use it in Gen 9
How good was Amoonguss actually?
