Personally i wouldnt dream of setting up right next to someone fishing cause he was there first, but thats just me. My area has limited spots for boats, and the last thing i need is for someone to complain about scaring the wildlife to the local council, then see a sign saying no boats allowed the next time i go there. I have actually gone home without running a boat and discharged my batteries when seeing people fishing at my spot. Just my 2 cents and no judgement here
this... a bit of respect works BOTH ways. if someones boating, i dont throw in a line. if someones fishing, i dont throw in a line. or boat. i go somewhere else. partially because its sort of embarrassing when something goes wrong... lol, now im reminded of souping up a friends boat... local dam...couple of kids swimming... its cool, its cool, theyre more interested in the boat than swimming... whatever i had done, this thing was hauling... "wouldnt it suck if it hit somethi..." just as it hits something and flips. watch it rapidly submerge in the middle of the dam. week later, friend pulls out this distinctive looking bit of foam... "maybe this was supposed to go back in before we glued it together?" yeah, the small hole in the bow to let the inevitable water out worked really well when it was upside down, letting the air out... its still down there, somewhere...
Fisherman have the right of way. The fees they pay is what is used to manage the fishery. Running a boat near a fisherman whether RC or real is just wrong. Common sense and courtesy have been replaced by narcissism. “I can do it so I will.”
When I used to race boats. We could not hold a race unless the lake area was cleared if there was a fisherman we had to convince him to leave or not race. I hate to say this but the general public comes before the hobbyist
Wish there was more spots dedicated to RC boating, so we did't have to put up with stuff like this. Experienced something similar this Summer. Was this lady (let's call her Karen) swimming, so I waited until she was out of the water and back to her towel before running my boat. As soon as i started running she came down and told me i could not run boats there. She actually demanded that I stopped immediately. I then informed her that this was a public space, and ran my boat anyway. Told her I could take a break if she wanted to swim more, but she was not happy. Sad that some people are not willing to share.
I’ve seen both sides. I fish, participate in powersports on the water as well as playing with RC stuff. So I’ve been the guy who has someone with an RC boat trying to hit my line as well as well as the guy who gets yelled at for driving an RC boat. Both in the same day actually. In this case, the fisherman was there first, and in public, it’s first come, first served. So the guy who posted the video is the one who should have found somewhere else. Another thing, it is a proven fact that electric RC boats do run fish off. Having worked for a company that designed trolling motors, they spend a lot of money trying to stop a sound that electric motors all make at moderate to high speeds that actually causes fish pain. A nitro boat is actually far less of a problem. But it is tested and proven that these high speed electric motors actually do move fish away from where they are being operated. There is actually a report from a conservation group that showed their use of RC boats with underwater cameras was actually causing fish to abandon their nests and flee. So 100%, this guy was ruining the fishing for the fisherman. He was the Karen and was not considerate at all of his fellow man.

When i take my rc boat out if there’s people fishing within 50m of where i want to run my boat i wont run it if they were there first. If i’m there first and someone complains well they can get stuffed!

Boater and angler here and I’ve found a noisy ramp is often holding active fish! Especially in otherwise quiet enclosed waters! Big or small boats it doesn’t matter! Damn I’ve even had smaller rc boats hit by fish! And used them for trolling lures too!

These guys mosty have no problems with it at all and like to see it, Just don't get to close to the gear. Sometimes sturing up the water even makes them catch something short after a run. I always worry about the fishing folks. It is their park, too. The noise will mess with the fish, but so do the large boats. So there is that. So folks have to learn to share the space. I had a similar experience this past summer. Some Ahole with a pontoon boat full of his rich snobby friends saying 💩 and intentionally steering right towards by my rc boat the whole while I intentionally made sure not to interfere with anyone’s boating activities. This was my second time out with it ever. A real sweetheart. Karen is too nice of a description for this guy, he was a Ahole plain and simple. What was funny was every other boater that seen me that day gave me thumbs up and told me my rc boat was cool. There’s always one.

Dude, big fan of your vids and the channel but I'd be bad if I wasn't honest in saying that even though that guy clearly needs to go get some rage therapy or something (or a good slapping if he's like that with the wrong person), if I got there with boats and he was fishing already I would cut my losses and either find a different spot or different pond or something. I'd never be setting up to run my noisy fast boats near someone already there fishing. He was being an asshole for sure, no question, and if you had been in that spot first then he's the one in the wrong, but I wouldn't start running my stuff by someone that's already there. A year or two ago I was running a Cyber Storm in the sea at full speed, and some dickheads brought a little inflatable raft and walked into the water right where I was running it, with their dog also running into the water there as well. No choice but to just stop and knock it on the head for the session when there's people as stupid as that around as carrying on would have been dangerous. I just packed up and left being grateful that I have a little bit more common sense than them. I even had an old person walk in and start swimming at the beach as well right where I was doing speed runs, even though the rest of the whole area was empty. I'm not even gonna try and discuss it with anyone like that as it's like pissing in the wind.
I was taping my boat up when he started fishing, I hadn't had my boat in the water yet, but he saw me taping it up when he first threw his line in. I have had issues with this guy in the past.

I live and breathe rc. I love your channel big B, and I've definitely learnt alot from you and have nothing but respect. But I gotta say that could have been handled alittle better. Yeah your at a boat ramp a full size boat licence required boat ramp either. But not a rc boat ramp or even a rc club with insurance. The boats go bloody fast. And not everyone can drive aswell as you. I don't need to mention what would happen if someone was collected by a run away 12s black jack. And fishing has been around a little longer than our hobby and some people are legitimately trying to catch a feed for themselves. So I think concessions need to be made and sometimes find another location to play boats. Or sometimes it's just a matter of waiting a moment or 2. Because people will make complaints and next you will see rc boats being banned and or heavily regulated like Rc planes and drones. So In other words it's better to not "rock the boat".. and Wether you like it or not people look upto you "as I do" and as I mentioned at the start you could set a slightly better example. Let alone doing that and recording it for RUclips calling a bloke a Karen who's just trying catch a fish. Because I know here in Australia there's a good chance of a couple black eyes and a broken boat.

I’ve only recently returned to SA from Vic after 40 years away, so feeling my way around my old home town. Things have changed. I’ll check out Mawson lakes on the maps. I had a similar experience this past summer. Some Ahole with a pontoon boat full of his rich snobby friends saying 💩 and intentionally steering right towards by my rc boat the whole while I intentionally made sure not to interfere with anyone’s boating activities. This was my second time out with it ever. A real sweetheart. Karen is too nice of a description for this guy, he was a Ahole plain and simple. What was funny was every other boater that seen me that day gave me thumbs up and told me my rc boat was cool. There’s always one.

Most of the time fish are attracted to boats .I live in Newfoundland so I am pretty use to boats and water .out my front window is all water like being in a boat rock throw away from ocen lol

It seems, we have the same problems all over the world. Here in Germany belong more than 90% fishing clubs.
Sometimes they call the police and we get a problem.

Dude, big fan of your vids and the channel but I'd be bad if I wasn't honest in saying that even though that guy clearly needs to go get some rage therapy or something (or a good slapping if he's like that with the wrong person), if I got there with boats and he was fishing already I would cut my losses and either find a different spot or different pond or something. I'd never be setting up to run my noisy fast boats near someone already there fishing.
He was being an asshole for sure, no question, and if you had been in that spot first then he's the one in the wrong, but I wouldn't start running my stuff by someone that's already there.
A year or two ago I was running a Cyber Storm in the sea at full speed, and some dickheads brought a little inflatable raft and walked into the water right where I was running it, with their dog also running into the water there as well. No choice but to just stop and knock it on the head for the session when there's people as stupid as that around as carrying on would have been dangerous. I just packed up and left being grateful that I have a little bit more common sense than them. I even had an old person walk in and start swimming at the beach as well right where I was doing speed runs, even though the rest of the whole area was empty. I'm not even gonna try and discuss it with anyone like that as it's like pissing in the wind.
I was taping my boat up when he started fishing, I hadn't had my boat in the water yet, but he saw me taping it up when he first threw his line in. I have had issues with this guy in the past.

I live and breathe rc. I love your channel big B, and I've definitely learnt alot from you and have nothing but respect. But I gotta say that could have been handled alittle better. Yeah your at a boat ramp a full size boat licence required boat ramp either. But not a rc boat ramp or even a rc club with insurance. The boats go bloody fast. And not everyone can drive aswell as you. I don't need to mention what would happen if someone was collected by a run away 12s black jack. And fishing has been around a little longer than our hobby and some people are legitimately trying to catch a feed for themselves. So I think concessions need to be made and sometimes find another location to play boats. Or sometimes it's just a matter of waiting a moment or 2. Because people will make complaints and next you will see rc boats being banned and or heavily regulated like Rc planes and drones. So In other words it's better to not "rock the boat".. and Wether you like it or not people look upto you "as I do" and as I mentioned at the start you could set a slightly better example. Let alone doing that and recording it for RUclips calling a bloke a Karen who's just trying catch a fish. Because I know here in Australia there's a good chance of a couple black eyes and a broken boat.

@ Heya, I haven’t found anywhere other than Bonythan Park. That pond is inadequately small. I know there are some places if one searches. Mawson lakes rings a bell. I’ve only recently returned to SA from Vic after 40 years away, so feeling my way around my old home town. Things have changed. I’ll check out Mawson lakes on the maps. Love to go boating with some people.
