Hey man. No need to apologize at the end for your videography or English. You did great and probably saved hundreds of people hundreds of dollars. Thanks for the great video! I will be trying this on our 2013 Expedition.

Thanks for posting!! After watching your video, I replaced the wiring harness on my 2011 Lincoln Navigator with this same issue. All good now and my wife is happy to have her heated seats back!
I also agree with the comment below this should absolutely be a Ford Recall as they know about the issues with the old harness burning up....

    Thank You! SaveMoneyDIY!
I just finished the same repair on my 07 Cadillac Escalade. I appreciate that you showed us the Ford Bulletin up close so that we could also note what it was communicating. It is weird, that a Ford fix works for a GM fix? These CSMs are similar and made through the same company. At least Ford is way ahead in dealing with this problem. Your Commentary and stream of consciousness in video were brilliant!
I had to snap, crackle, and pop the plug out of the CSM. I bought a new plug along with some wire connectors from Mouser, learning this from RK DTS YT seat fix.
I ended up hack-sawing, breaking, and cussing, the wires out, that were stuck in the old plug. I soldered in 12 awg wires to the black ground wire, adding one also to the empty "L" space next to the ground wire (thanks to your commentary and the Ford bulletin) to a new plug that I got from Mouser. The last step was to replace a green 30 amp fuse that is in located up front in the side fuse panel.

Just had it happen on my 2013 Expedition. Mine has a lifetime full wrap warranty, so the dealer is going to be doing the work but the video is great reference to help explain the issue to the tech and check on their work.

If you do this and fix it, it's a great idea to check under the back side of the driver's seat for broken wires too because the broken wires are what caused it to ground out in the first place. This was only half the fix for my issue in my 09 Lincoln Navigator

You want to fully seal the connectors it prevents corrosion from moisture in the air and makes the connectors/wires last longer
I just ran into this issue on my Taurus it's barely under warranty but I would have changed the module out as that's probably the root cause we will see when I get my Ford dealer to look at it.

I have a 2012 Expedition with the same seat issue. Ford has had this problem for a very long time with heated/cooled seats; they also make a ton of money fixing the issue and selling replacement parts. If the module needs replacement it requires programming from a Ford dealer. The question is why? Other than VIN ID's why would you need to program this type of module to operate in a specific vehicle?
This should be a Ford defect recall item and no one should be charged for the repair work. It's obviously a defect based on 5 or 6 years of the same types of issues. Ford has some other known issues including peeling/bubbling paint on specific body parts; that's due to improper preparation on aluminum panels (In my case the rear hatch door) prior to painting. Perhaps the real fix for these Ford issues is a class action lawsuit. These defects cost you money and devalue your vehicle. Why should you, or I, pay Ford to correct known issues that are of their making?

I just added a second ground wire to a 2007 I just bought. The previous owner stated he bought a new module. Driver side works fine, just not passenger? I've never heard of programming the module.

Phantom Foxy Hi , I’m trying to repair my seats but the dealer says this plug is only available with the complete wiring harness . Can you tell me where where you found the parts ? Thank you for any help you can give me

  • @ryanideus6616

I have a 2007 and the heat/ac in the passenger seat will turn on then turn off, you try to push the buttons and the lights just flicker. I tried about but still no go. Driver side works great. Used heavy gauge ground wire and didn't solder, use push connectors. Just bought a couple days ago, previous owner said he got a new module but I don't think he had it programmed. I'm guessing that may solve my problem?

its not a risk of injury or death so it doesnt warrant a recall which is why its a TSB (technician service bulletin).
