The language Margu and her tribe is using is Saami, it's from a tribe in Finland, where the real Christmas town is based
@Dos Cavazos - I truly, TRULY can´t endure people who watch movies trying to "outsmart" the writers... Trying to guess how EVERY SINGLE SCENE is going to end, every plot point.. Watching movies as if it was a competition, instead of actually enjoying it (or even paying attention, sometimes). You two talked over so many CRUCIALLY IMPORTANT lines of dialogue, while ranting about your STPD theories :S
You both have to watch this, I guarantee your mind will be blown. ruclips.net/video/C854GyGG70g/видео.html
i would have to say i bet this film is in the 2nd or 3rd spot for your top favorite Christmas films
Can you watch the "8 BIT CHRISTMAS" movie?
It is Criminally Underrated and It has
Neil Patrick Harris in it
Jesper's father is actually one of my favourite parents in any movie i've seen.
He's a very wealthy and influential person but he does not want his kid to be some spoilt layabout, he puts his kid to work like a poorer person would have to do, he actually wants his kid to earn his place and makes him get off his ass and do something, then does both follow through on his promise to his kid then respects his kids decision.
Jesper's dad is awesome.
Another point to his credit is that he realizes that Jesper is unhappy almost immediately and gave him that look that was very clearly him checking whats wrong without even saying a word. They clearly have an actually really good relationship and all his dad wanted was what was best for him even if that required a little tough love.
@@ThickThighsSaveLivez That loving, concerned 'What's wrong, son? Don't lie... I can tell something's upsetting you. Tell me.' Look.
He certainly is great during the movie. However, he did let it get to the point where Jesper was, the way he was, at the start of the movie.
Klaus was definitely robbed. It's also sad not enough people know about the movie. I'm so glad you reacted to it. :)
I just discovered this movie this year from my cousin and I've been telling people from work about it and they've been liking the movie a lot.
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies. It's so good!
This movie should have been animated movie of the year. Toy Story doesn't deserve it.
@@haseo12161 indeed
It was based on true story
Klaus was robbed SO BAD at the awards! This is the first animated movie out of SPA Studios and they are bringing 2D back! The story is amazing and the animation is INCREDIBLE!
I can’t believe that both Klause and the hidden world lost to stupid Toy Story 4. I may be biased but Toy Story 4 was just not that good in my opinion.
Guys, when the girl speaks, the subtitles literally tell you she speaks Saami😁 Saami people live in the north of Norway and Finland herding reindeer 😊 their language is unique but sounds a little bit close to Finnish; the bright blue and red outfits are also accurate
When we were watching the movie we didn’t have the subtitles on but thanks for the information! 😊
@@DosCavazos Ohhhh I was like, "It says it right there, Saami" This makes sense!
They also live in north of Sweden 🙂
Some of the costumes in Frozen were inspired by the Saami people. They also provided inspiration for the Northuldra in Frozen II.
The Sami can be found in Sweden and Russia as well. They’re also known as Lapplanders.
Margu is Sami which is also the language she's speaking. They're an ethnic group to the very north of Scandinavia.
I say this every time that I see this movie. Can we PLEASE bring hand-drawn animation back to the big screen? LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS IS!
Yes!! 😭😭😭
YES!!
We could certainly have more of it. Computers can make things much easier on the people though.
It's not hand-drawn, it's a 3d film with effects to make it look hand-drawn.
@@yougotgamesonyophone697 No dude this was not 3D, look into the making of it, its all hand drawn
The wind Klaus always see is the ghost of his late wife. She guides him during all the movie.
What a treat! Klaus is one of my fav animated movies overall.
Glad to see someone cover this film, it got buried when it came out and didn’t see anyone really talk about it, it deserves to become a Christmas classic
The Bancroft brothers and I think the supercarlin brothers were talking about it the year it came out
I follow both podcasts and that is when I heard about it and couldn't wait to see It
Margú is toooo adorable. Such an underrated film, Klaus has been part of my holiday thing every year.
Mine too, right since the year it came out! :)
Saami are Indigenous people of north Europe. They live in Northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia.
Their language is part of Finno-Ugric language family. This family language is spoken on Estonia, Finland, Hungary and in Northern parts of Norway, Sweden and Russia.
"I feel like I haven't stopped smiling this whole movie!"
For me, this is the perfect Christmas movie. It's funny and sweet in all the right measure. It's characters are loveable and grow naturally through the movie. It'll make you cry with joy and sadness, and deals with heavy emotions in a thoughtful and uplifting manner. And importantly it has a beautiful message and satisfying conclusion, a very literal "Don't be sad that its over, be happy that it happened" at the end. I love that we see the immature Jesper grow up to be a loving, fun, father, all without changing his fundemental personality. That is character development done right, and I love it.
Klaus is definitely one of my favorite films, period, but especially Christmas. The creative story, the innovative revival of 2D animation mixed with 3D, the character design, and the perfect blend of humor and emotional scenes. I cry every single time I watch it. Toy Story 4 had more "money" behind it as well as advertising with Disney/Pixar but Klaus is the winner to me. The director of the film actually created his own company to make this film. He did work on Treasure Planet back in the day and with that knowledge it's easy to see the influence in the Klaus character designs (especially between Jesper and Dr. Doppler from TP). I don't think I've seen a single person not love this movie by the end, whereas like you guys said Toy Story 4 is just kind of forgettable as the time has passed since its release.
this movie definitely shouldve won the oscar
I was definitely rooting for this one at the Oscars. I think that it being the start of the pandemic hurt it, too. Fun fact: the title of the film didn't show up until the end of the movie.
The thing that most likely hurt it more was the fact that it got an extremely limited release in theaters, only a hand full of towns and for just a week or two. Netflix did this movie dirty by not giving it a proper theater run.
I didn't watch it until it was December when it first came out. I feel in love right away. The fact it was the kids creating the legend of Santa was most wonderful thing to me.
I jokingly pitched it as The "Emperor's New Groove" meets Christmas to relatives who haven't seen it.
Was so impressive to me that it was 2D animated, but color and shading didn't make me realize!!
With how the old lady reminds me of Yzma, that's not a bad pitch.
I watched this 2 Christmases ago and it became, bar none, my favorite Christmas movie. Yeah, there are a bunch that I enjoy that are either funny, classic, etc. but this one has such a heart, and ticks every other thing you would want in a Christmas movie.
Here's a fun fact about the movie. The conversations between Jesper and Margu were base off the ones director Sergio Pablos had with the Saami child voice actor who doesn't speak a word of English.
This movie is one of the best movies ever made. I promise.
In my family we don't have Santa since my family moved to America from the Soviet Union instead we had Ded Maroz or Grandpa Frost who traveled with a Snow Maiden and would deliver presents to good and behaving children on New Years Eve.
I'll probably wind up renewing Netflix for December *just* to rewatch this movie this year. The ending was about as perfect as you could ask for - an extended ending was story-boarded in which Jesper and Alva actually find Klaus as Santa in the North Pole, but that wouldn't be anywhere *near* as touching as the ending we wound up getting.
Margu and the kids communicated via kid magic-- like how my baby sister always made friends in the countries we visited. She doesnt speak the language but a kid is a kid
This is such a good movie! Excited to watch this reaction
One of the few Christmas films I actually enjoy, it's really good
I finally watched this movie last year during Christmas time and I couldn't believe how amazing it is! I absolutely love it and am definitely gonna have to watch it again now (most likely would've anyway). I'm glad you guys loved it too. This reaction was a real treat.
A friend showed me this movie because I used to work as a postman. Best christmas movie I've seen.
I don't know if you know this but the director of this movie was actually one of the leading animators of Treasure Planet! You can actually see references in Jesper's design and Margus sled!
I've noticed some similarities between this and Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, its older brother Santa origin story.
-A postman narrates Santa Claus is Comin' to Town and there's implied relationship between Santa and postmen.
-Both take place in miserable towns with dickhead leaders.
-Said miserable town improves due to Santa's gift giving.
-A teacher is the love interest.
Big shouts to the boatman who is voiced by norm mcdonald who unfortunately passed in 2021
It was made in spain and it was the first movie of his director, Sergio Pablos, who previously worked as an animator for Disney
This is now my new favorite Christmas movie.
Fun fact: the lady that voices Ms Krum also voices Jessie from Toy Story
This movie needs SO MUCH MORE ATTENTION. ;_;
The H name you're thinking of is Hatfield. As far as I'm aware, the infamous Hatfield and McCoy feud started over which family owned a certain plot of land. Also, I believe there is a theory that both families suffered from a genetic disorder that would have caused an imbalance of stress hormones, and that's why the feud escalated so quickly.
The song is called Invisible by Zara Larsson, me and my wife had it as our wedding song
Margu, the little Lilo-like girl, is Saami, which is also her language. The funny thing is, she understands English just fine, she just didn’t speak it. So she was actually responding to Jesper when they had their little chat, he just didn’t know it.
Also, I like “a scam for good”. That’s my new definition for a hustle.
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time along with die hard
This movie is so underappreciated. I am so glad more people are finding this movie! It's an instant Christmas Classic!
This is my favourite Christmas movie.
And Oscars should honestly just rename the best animated film category to "That One Disney/Pixar Movie This Year". Cuz that's what it really is.
They did mistakenly vote twice for movies that weren't Disney/Pixar,
Rango and
Spirited Away.
Miracles do happen
@@benoitcecyre7081 Both are amazing. Very deserved.
Just the best Christmas movie ever. Was great to see your reaction to it.
just to emphasize, the town seems to be some vaguely european place, since that one girl is part of the saami people (tthe subtitles specifically indicate they're speaking saami), an actual ethnic group spanning northern europe.
47:28 "Someone tell use what language that is?"
Subtitles: "Speeking Saami"
The wind is the spirit of his wife guiding him along. An amazing fact the little girl that speaks Saami the director went over to Europe to record the girls lines.
In my head canon, Klaus visits Jasper every year, and not like kid, like a friend.
Just having a nice time, drinking some tea or so.
Some people decided to headcanon this Klaus as being the origin of North, from Rise of the Guardians. It is very nice
Margu is a cuteness cheatcode.
klaus is one of those movies that is really good.. but like..not many people know about it/seen it.
if I'm not misremember, for Klaus it was developed some new tech of animation (or improved a lot some old one), since Klaus is a 2D animation that seems 3D.
It was completely robbed that year
This movie is a masterpiece. How visually stunning it looks, how inspiring it sounds, how it develops, how it feels in so many moments... In the end, you just look back to the story you watched and cry from nowhere, because it was good. The movie I would recommend anyone to watch.
Márgu is Sámi (Saami), an ethnic group indigenous to the northern regions of Scandinavia (modern-day Norway, Sweden & Finland), coexisting alongside the Germanic/Nordic inhabitants & other ethnic groups of Scandinavia. There's also a sizable population of Sámi people in northern Russia & very small numbers in Ukraine.
Klaus is such a gift... I have 2 kids and been looking for new animated films that has the same feels, so when I stumbled upon this I was really happy. It's a bit difficult to find quality animated films these days.
This is definitely in my top three favorite Christmas movies. I've watched it several times now and it never gets old.
29:43 Teacher cracks her piggy bank to buy school supplies… Some things just stay the same, don’t it
It became an instant favorite in my house. We love it. ❤🎅
in this film they spelled Saami wrong when it's actual spouse to be Sami which you could say they are a Nordic/Russian people there are The Fishing Tribe Sami and Mountain Tribe Sami the little girl in this looks to be of the Mountain Tribe Sami....and the little Girl Found out about it through the spirit of Klaus's Wife which is the Magical Wind that helped move everything into place to where it all works out
“Mail in sweepstakes”… that’s kinda what Santa is when you send him a letter, you don’t know what you’ll get but it will be special
When I first watched this it blew my mind, the animation was great, the story was great and the lore of Santa was great. This is one of the better Christmas movies I have seen and I watch it every year now.
as much as i love toy story, klaus shouldve won that award. it's not often that we get stories about how santa came to be in such a creative and imaginative way.
I love this movie. It has become one of my favorite Christmas movies. It was robbed an Oscar. The ending makes me cry every time.
we need more reactions to this movie, its so good
Award in 2019 should have been between Klaus and How to Train Your Dragon: the hidden world ; i feel like Toys Story only won because it was branded by Pixar...
This is my favorite christmas movie, i watched it so many times and cry everytime. This should have won at the oscars
Omg yess, this is such a wholesome movie 🥺🥺
Funny, I just commented on Kacee's video reaction to the Rise of the Guardians that she should watch Klaus next since she loved the Santa in that movie so much, glad that I got my present fast :D
Klaus definitely is my favourite new Christmas movie. My friends recommended it to me the year it came out and I ended up eventually watching it and I loved it, managed to convince my family to watch it the next year as our Christmas eve movie since all theatres were closed for the pandemic and they all loved it too, but I don't think they loved it as much as I did. This is the first movie I WANT to watch every year for Christmas. Very happy for the surprise of this reaction!
Also yes, one year I did get coal for Christmas. It was in the bottom of our stockings under all the normal stocking stuffers there was a big chunk of coal with a Christmas painting on it as a little joke LOL I think it was like between 10 and 15 years ago now
This movie is just an instant classic. Love Margu the most.
I really have to say that this is one of my #1 favorite Christmas movies these days. Heck, even just watching the reaction here, when it got to the end, I _no joke_ started to cry. That scene gets me every bloody time!
This became one of my fave Christmas movies ever
This movie is the definition of taking everything you've learned from Santa and burying it in the back of your mind because nothing you think you know works in this movie.
Also don't feel bad about it not winning the Best Animated Film. The Academy Awards never takes that category seriously, I remember hearing about how the voters admittedly say they don't even watch the animated films at all and just vote for whatever the popular choice is.
All I can say is..........WOW
Thank you both :)
Klaus is a classic in my book
Is there a magical person known as Santa? No one will truly know, but he exists as a form of love in my opinion. He is a symbol of all that is great about Christmas and humanity at its brightest. So, yes I believe in Santa Claus. Just had to share my take.
Awww I watched it with my kids, we loved it and.. my second child was happy about his second name "Nicklaus" 😅
I actually cried though out the whole reaction, I watched this as soon as it came out and it is my favorite Christmas movie. Every single time I watch it I start crying as soon as Jesper meets Klaus. It just gets me right in my heart, it's so so wholesome and heartwarming and the characters are just fantastic.
Klaus REALLY should've won Best Animated Film.
Also random, but Klaus and Jesper remind me of Endeavor and Hawks.
It really is one of those movies that makes you cry more, the more times you watch it. On intial viewing you don't know what their dynamic will be. But after that you know where all the characters end up and their relationships. So on rewatch I see their initial encounter and then can imagine how beautiful their friendship and what they achieve will be, and that just makes me start tearing up automatically. Also for the viewer its like going back in time to see his friend again! Very few scenes make me feel so much happiness, nostalgia and sadness in equal measure as the final scene.
omggggg yesssss yessss yessss thank uuu i cannot express enough how i love this movie i live my life in accordance to this movie yesssssss
I plan to watch this one as well!
Also I know you guys have been doing it a while but I’m glad you guys are slightly branching out and watching movies.
This is such a great movie. Underrated af.
Wow!!!! Tysm for reacting to this! 💚
This movie deserved an Oscar,...it always warms my heart when i watch it....
Margu is Sami, So she speak Sami language. I think the Sami language itself are actually comprised of a group of Uralic languages. The Sami people live in northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and some other regions.
So glad to share my happy tears with you watching this movie together 😹😹😹
Márgu is so precious she brings me to tears🥺💙
I saw it the week it came out. Ever since it's my favourite animated movie ever.
Klaus brought the magic of Christmas back to me as a 25 year old 🥹
Alva using her own savings so that the kids can have school supplies is one of the most cynically realistic thing in the movie. Teachers are underappreciated man.
AAAH so excited! I don't even celebrate christmas but I remember seeing the poster on Netflix. Me and my sister watched it just because we were bored, not knowing that we would be speechless at the end of the movie. Klaus is underrated and I hope this christmas more people would watch this masterpiece!
This Definitely should have won best animation at the Oscars, it only lost to Toy Story because of name only. You should also check out Oni: A thunder Gods tale. Great animation. Netflix does a poor job marketing these things as well so there is that.
Klaus 100% should've won. One of the best Christmas movies hands down.
This is one of the very few animated movies that took me by surprise by how much I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would, to the point where I watch it traditionally once a year around Christmas time now, sitting on top with other great Christmas movie classics. In fact it may be my favourite Christmas movie now.
Where do I begin with this movie?
I was so thrilled to see the notification of this video! I love seeing reactors watch this movie. I have a playlist of this movie and will be adding yours to it.
I choose Klaus over Toy Story 4 mainly because, like Anthony said, TS should have ended with 3. We got a bit over-saturated with it.
I love how this movie put all the pieces together for the origin of Santa Claus (Klaus)
I like to think of Lydia as the initial "spirit of Christmas"
45:03 .... Kacee, that song, "Invisible" (Margu's song) just broke me. It would build up from writing the letter, building and delivering her toy, and then her reaction to seeing it and riding it. I was a puddle of tears.
Klaus joining Lydia was so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time.
This has started December and the season off beautifully!!
Did you notice the sky got lighter whenthe adults started to be nice.
This movie was so cute and sweet, got my eyes watery throughout, honestly was expecting it to be mid but God this is an instant classic for me.
I recommend this movie to everyone around Christmas, it’s so good!
Great to see an amazing 2d animated movie!
Great reaction! This is my favorite animated Christmas movie, I re-watch it every year!
And no, I never got coal.
One of my favorites besides love actually, I watch this every year around Christmas.
Actually this is my favorite one
That movie was reaally big surprise. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig. So well done, such joy mixed with just right amount of tears. Nice.
Claus is the winner, Disney is a corporation. "No tiene corazon, no tiene alma"
