  • This series covers the construction of my settlement at Starlight Drive In. Apart from Place Everywhere no settlement object mods were used, and only uses vanilla and DLC objects.
    In this part I expand the existing workbench shack by building a greenhouse around it. I also construct two raised settler homes along the edge of the settlement, with a small crop field between them.

    Ah ! Finally! A RECENT Fallout 4 video! All the rest I see are from 4+ years ago!

    Nicely done! You know my opinion about your greenhouses: they are just awesome! But the one thing I will never understand is your houses... there is nothing wrong with them but a structure like this for me is impossible to decorate that is another reason why I always admire your decorations. Looking forward to see the next part of the build!

      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад +4

      Thanks! I always loved the way you decorate your builds and not sure why you think you would not be able to decorate those houses, I honestly think you would do a better job at them than me 👍
      Glad you are looking forward to seeing the next part, which will be the start of the central block of structures around the pond. Hopefully should be a little more interesting but needed to get this done first, as the rest of the settlement is basically anchored off and lines up with this section.

    Just wow... I build very geometrically because of my OCD... and the fact that Hangman's Alley is so freaking small, but this makes me want to try something without snap turned on!
    I love your little city and how you save the trees for later!

      I much as I am a fan of having everything snap together and lining up, it can sometimes be good to go off the grid 😁 Great to hear you are liking how the build is shaping up - thanks! 👍

    A greenhouse at a drive in? When I'm going to a movie, the last thing I wanna do is eat carrot in a sea of candy bars and popcorn!
    Good build btw!

      You got to have somewhere to grow corn before you can turn it into popcorn, Starlight just happens to be the Commonwealth’s first (and only) self-sufficient drive-in theatre… although I recommend you avoid their candy bars as I have no idea where they make or get them from 😉. Glad you liked the build!

    Nice. Really nice. Love the greenhouse and how you managed to fit it next to that otherwise useless little shed. Never worked for me.
    Also kudos for using the ball track supports. I believe you are the first person I ever saw using them at all.

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад

      Thanks! Guess I am lucky in that the little shed has never really given me any problems and seems to mesh really well with the warehouse pieces. Can’t claim credit for the ball track support idea, first saw SarDeliac use them like that and have used it in a couple of my builds. 😁

    The only ever so minor critique I have, is rotating floors to give them a randomized non uniform look. Otherwise you may notice the repeating pattern. Other than that, I love it!

    Sanctuary, Starlight & Egret Tours Marina I've literally constructed them into small civilized cities. Especially Starlight.
    Since I'm in the middle of the Nuka World campaign Starlight has become a combination of Nuka World & Diamond City, By far my biggest & longest build. After watching this vid I see there's some stuff I gotta change now 😂

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  Год назад

      Happy to hear the build has been able to provide some ideas 👍 My only regret with this build (and my one at Sanctuary ) is I went a little too big which hurt the framerate, certainly still playable but would have preferred it to run a little better. Still the game gave me all that room to build in, seemed rude not to use it all 🤣

    Great work, but I do have a question, how do you have it so you no limit on settlement building? I have alwayed wanted to build big detailed bases but could never do it since the limit

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! I use a glitch to reset the building limit when needed. To do this drop some weapons on the ground (Gamma Guns work great for this), enter build mode and then store them. Each weapon stored will reduce the build limit. It’s an old glitch that thankfully has never been patched and still works for PC and console. 👍

  • @tracerx6324
    @tracerx6324 2 года назад +1

    There are lot of great ideas to improve my own settlement buildings. And it's cool to see, somenone uses the support from the balltrack section, too. 🙃I also use the waypost (I can't remember the correct name) from the Nuka World section to support some floors, especially the first floor from Homeplate. By the way, which mod do you use to increase the build limit?

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад +1

      Awesome to hear you found the video useful! 😁 I’ll have to check out the Nuka World tab and have a look for that waypost, always good to have more options to provide support to structures.
      To increase my build limit I use the weapon storing glitch (drop weapons in settlement, enter build mode and store them). I prefer this method rather than a mod as it lets me keep track of how many size bars I have filled, as I ideally like to keep my builds around 3-4 at max.

    • @tracerx6324
      @tracerx6324 2 года назад

      @@FiddleflapsVids Yeah, I realize you're using the weapon glitch, because otherwise the mod would be on your modlist. I think I give this glitch a new try, because of the insane amount of pipe guns in the game. 😂 I use all of your settlement builds in one of my playthroughs and I have to say, I like them a lot. And the builds are just slightly on the edge of framerate dropping, so they are just fine to use with settlers. I often build settlements by myself and I just reduce the workshop to vanilla, because it's extremely time consuming to find the right parts from other crafting workshop mods. They're all great, but mostly to much content. The only addition I use is the Creation Club CW mods, because I like them, especially Slocum Joe. There's another YT Channel named Skooled Zone and this guy has some nice tricks to melt different objects into new objects. Anyway, I'm really looking forward for the finished Starlight build and can't wait to check it ingame. 👍

    Question. Did you used any sort mods when building your settlements or used any glitching techniques and such?🤔😅

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад +1

      All the settlements shown on the channel were made using the Place Everywhere mod. I do use other mods but none that add objects or effect settlement building, and have a full mod list linked in each videos description.

    So I had to quit what I was doing to watch you build. Can I assume you do this on PC? I do no mods besides creation club and DLCs. But you have me so close in using the place anywhere mod. I tried watching close your cement block base and the. Adding wooden pieces on top.

      Thanks for checking out the build, and hope you enjoyed it 😁 I do play on PC using a controller so get the Xbox button prompts. Using Place Everywhere allows me to enjoy building without having to try and work around the games vanilla limitations using various glitches (I just don’t find that fun), so if you think you’ll enjoy using the mod why not give it a go?

      Honestly trying not too think about Vault 88 at the moment 😱 Makes sense that a vault should be built there but I am not the biggest fan of the vault pieces and its rather limited lighting options, so an underground junk town or a mix of the two might be an option.
