The Flanders Blues was Ptsd or Shell Shock as they called it. Flanders, an area in Belgium, was the scene of some of the worst fighting made famous in the poem In Flanders Fields, which us older folks all had to read in grade school. The reason the red poppy became the symbol of remembrance for the fallen in wars for Great Britain. Google the poem. It is haunting and beautiful.
Because the first world war was a stalemate, any large attack across open field lead to absolute slaughter, both the British and the Germans dug huge tunnels under each other's lines and packed it full of explosives where it was the strongest and blew them up. It also meant they fought each other in the tunnels just like what happens in the show.

The guy who plays Billy KImber is Charlie Creed Miles and is an excellent drummer and musician.
Peaky Blinders (2013-2022) is mainly filmed in Bradford, largely at Bradford City Hall.
Billy Kimber met with Tommy at Dalton Mills in Keighley, Bradford, and at King's Hall and Winter Gardens in Ilkley, Bradford.
Charlie Creed-Miles' wife Samantha Morton filmed at various Bradford locations in Band of Gold (1995-1997), including Bradford City Hall.
Charlie Creed-Miles' daughter Esmé Creed-Miles filmed Dark River (2017) in Keighley, Bradford, and Wasteland (2018) at various Bradford locations. I've not seen Wasteland (2018) yet, but I do know it was filmed in neighbourhoods like Wibsey, Idle, Little Germany along with other areas of the City Centre, and Undercliffe which was the original name for the film.
Tommy’s dreams are flashbacks the the tunnel systems in the war that they had to dig. They used to dig towards the enemy to get under the trenches ect. But most of the time they would dog into the enemy tunnels and end up in very very close combat!
One of the worst jobs of the war! They were nick named ‘tunnel rats’ you can guess why🫠 they dug for days towards certain death 🙏🇬🇧
So glad you guys have finally got round to watching Peaky Blinders, the series is a masterpiece with some of the best tv show characters in the history of television. Your gonna enjoy this one!
I always wonder about what they make in the fire warehouse, too. It's like a Sparkworks, where they smelt and harvest sparks.
