How to Cutback and find the pocket / LONGBOARD SURFING

  • The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun, practice these simple tips and I guarantee that you will be the best surfer in the water!
    WHY?
    Because if you aren't able to cutback and stay in the critical part of the wave you will prematurely lose the wave.
    In this vlog I share some simple pointers to help learn how to cutback.

    By doing the type of cutbacks you show in this video you are dropping down to the dead part of the wave and then riding back up it.
    Trim Tip: Try shifting your weight back to slow the board down (the opposite of placing your weight forward to speed up) so that you can STAY in the critical part of the wave directly next to the curl/whitewash. This is a lot of fun and allows you to really control where you are in the wave and sets you up for being able to perform a lot of additional maneuvers - including dragging your hand along the face of the wave.

      Nice. Yes, I definitely like the feeling of surfing off my trail leg and stalling the board to stay in the critical part of the wave… I think that’s mostly what surfing is, just constantly doing the manoeuvres and adjustments to stay in the curl🤙🤙
