After some unexpected technical issues with our last video, we’ve reworked it for better audio and clarity. ruclips.net/video/gh-PAG4GhS4/видео.html 🙌 In this updated video, I’m showing you how to achieve a professional-level dry curly haircut at home! 💇♀✨ Huge thanks to everyone who’s already tried the original tutorial, shared your amazing results, and tagged us!
I’m about to graduate from cosmetology school in a week and I followed this tutorial on my 2c 3a curls and omg!! Best haircut ever!! So easy to follow🫶🏻
It’s been over a year that I’ve been cutting my own hair following Mel and Amanda’s tutorials, so thank you girls! I do the 3 steps: pray, get brave and follow the tutorial. 🥰💕
Thank you so much! I had Amanda hair in my 30's but just turned 60 and my hair is not as curly or full anymore BUT hairstylists were not cutting my natural curls to maximize the hair. I unfortunately kept saying I needed "layers" in the back as it was falling flat...little did I know that what I really needed was the layers to stack on top of each other. This video really helped me with sectioning that I could handle and the ability to tie the back to the front and make it round. One perk of "older" curly hair is now I can fairly easily straighten my locks when the humidity is low. This cut works for my curls and if I want it straight -THANK YOU so Much!! Saved me from horrible flat hair and spending $$$$ at CA salons.
I FEEL SO EMPOWERED!! This is THE best haircut I have EVER had!! If you would have told my past 7th grade self with the little Dutch girl haircut, she could have beautiful full locks.. She wouldn't have ever believed it. Thank you so much, ladies!! 🫡🎉🎉🎉💇♀️
This is the EXACT haircut I’ve been getting for YEARS. I recently started cutting my own hair thanks to your videos, and I’m so excited to try this next! PS Would you be willing to do a video focused on how to style hair with multiple textures (i.e. both waves and curls or different types of curls on the same head)?
Tried the hair cut today and loved it! I wanted more fullness and was trying to grow out my layers to get a blunt cut, but I tried this hair cut and man oh man did I get volume! Thank you seesters!
I’ve been cutting my own hair for over 10 years. I’ve followed other tutorials on this channel and have had great results. I’m trying this dry cut today. I’m ready for a rounder fuller shape for sure. Thanks ladies. ❤
My parents just gave me my first hair cutting kit, and I owe it all to you!! You were the one who ignited my passion for hair, and started me off on my curly hair journey! I just wanted to thank you for that😊❤
I’ve always wanted a DYI cut for fuller hair! So thank you! I tried this cut this afternoon, and it was definitely harder than you made it look 🙈 plus the pain of dry brushing, I don’t think it was worth it to me. Definitely a two person job. My hair was probably too long. I don’t think it turned out even, but it will grow back. 😊
Anytime I try cutting my hair including styling it, it's hard because my arms start hurting right about the same time I start getting impatient/frustrated/hot/ sweaty 🥵.
I’d love to see a full update of Amanda from the beginning of her journey to now. Great for ones beginning and a reminder to stay patient and committed to the process!
I love this! After being disappointed every time I pay for a salon cut, I’ve decided to start doing it myself. This has given me the missing link for how to do the back! ❤
First of all I have to say keep doing the amazing job you and seester are doing, educating the curly community and take out all the guest work for all us curlies. I have done the pigtail and pinwheel haircut and they both work well for me. This past Sunday I decided to try your latest haircut tutorial on my fine medium density hair that is past my shoulders and I am so in luv with the cut. Luv the shape and my curls have sprung up and so alive and defined ❤ You ladies are phenomenal thank you. I have to say I was a bit scared but just went back to what Mel said if you fail then go to the salon. No fail here I have been cutting my own hair for over a year thanks to you Mel❤
Oh my gosh, I definitely needed this video! I did the pigtails cut a couple of days ago. Turned out a tad too choppy for me. I followed the tutorial to clean up the corners. I immediately saw the boost in volume and the cut looks much better!! Thank you ladies!❤
I'm so excited to try this!! It is the exact haircut I want and can't find anyone nearby to do it. I was about to book a $350 haircut 2.5 hours away in January because that's the best I could find and decided to watch your video first. I'm so excited! I think i can do this!!
Love all your videos! I’m one of those with what you would probably consider the bad choppy layered cut. No stylist in my area was willing to do layers in my curly hair-I was a walking pyramid. Finally decided to cut my own dry. I grab a curl figure out where I want it to fall and chop. Bring up the bottom so it’s not scraggly and it looks similar to what you did here. I love it-I finally have voluminous curls again! I will add I never wear my hair straight. So many stylists have no clue how to cut curly hair and are afraid of chunky layers.
I've been cutting my own hair for 4 years now all thanks to your last video where you had Amanda do it herself. I love saying I cut it myself 🤗 thank you!
Who else just wants Amanda's hair? So beautiful and full...😊❤ love watching your realness by you 2 and the videos!! Thank you for all the hard work and patience ❤
I am a professional stylist and the last time I had someone else cut my hair was in 2002. I'm like Amanda, I like a thicker baseline. I have medium-density, medium-denier hair so it isn't thin by any means, but if I don't have more fullness on the bottom I feel like my hair has thinned out and I end up cutting it shorter to have more fullness. Took me years to stop experimenting with different "trending" styles and recognize what I like so now I do it like that no matter what length it is 🙂
Hi Mel, Amanda, I did the haircut today. I watched a video about 12 times and I practiced cutting my hair without really cutting it. But today was the day turned out great thank you so much really appreciate it. I would always see those corners when I would cut my hair and I wouldn’t touch them because❤ I didn’t wanna mess up my hair, but I see that if I want it full, I have to do that. Keep up the good work. Many thanks for all of your tips.
You both are so entertaining 😂. Mell I saw the pain in your body language. Amanda’s fighting for those rains in the politest way possible 😂. Then the bloopers 🤣. Amanda looses control of the camera and the demon is released on Mell lol. God I loved this video and Amanda your hair is gorgeous! ❤ I wish I had a sister 😊.
Although Miz Mel had sound issues in this one i found it easier to follow than the shorter rereleased version as it seemed more thorough. I haven't washed & styled it yet but cant wait tobsee how it goes. I tend to also blow out my curly hair and use a curl iron to do softer curls so i figured this cutting technique would still give me nice results either way so we will see. Excited to check out the versatility and results! Thanks for the thorough guids! ❤❤❤
Can I just say how amazing this tutorial is? I just tried it to fix a botched haircut where the back of my hair was an upside down U and to shorten my hair and WOW I can already tell it will be beautiful once I wash it since the shape looks great dry. A thousand times thank you 🙌
Is it just me who isn’t getting any sound of voices? I get music now and then. Gutted cos I was looking forward to this video. Hair looks gorgeous though!
Looooved the video. @Mell, thank you for your explanations and kicking-and-screaming-inside face expressions😂 @Amanda, the color and highlights look so good on you. Beautifull haircut seesters ❤

I did this haircut this evening (with a friend spotting me) and it turned out great! 😍😍 Details - I have (mostly) 2C to 3A hair. I’ve done the pigtail cut from Mell I think 3 times. I was looking to take off quite a bit of length, so I did both sides of length first (4 inches or so - originally my hair came to the middle of my chest) before doing the layers on each side individually as shown in the video. The loss of length made my “corners” a lot larger that they ended up with in the video, so watch out for that! The hardest part was the layers at the crown of the head - I couldn’t reach high enough to be confident that I was doing it right, so my friend helped me out there. All in all, taking my time, it took more than 2 hours, but I ended up satisfied with even layers and face framing, and the length I wanted! Would definitely do this haircut again!! Thanks so much Mell and Amanda 💖
Thank you so much Mel and Amanda, this tutorial was just what I have been waiting for 👌 Your videos have helped me save so much $$$ on curly cuts. I hated going to a hairdresser in the past, you have taken that stress away so thank you ❤❤❤️❤️
Well!! Ladies I've just tried it and it's given me the VA VA VOOOOM!! I've been looking for for a long time. Thank you, thank you THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!! I have better shape than from the cut I paid 💰💰 for last month. Maybe I should send that stylist this video😂. Also big thanks for the supplies list. I ordered scissors and clips. Much easier.❤️
I LOVE your tutorials! Is there a tutorial for your lovely sister’s previous cut with the full shorter bang? I kind of like my stringy ends but also my full curly bangs. I need a cut but do want to keep as much length as I can. Hahaha, I know I have to sacrifice a little. I like the mullet/80s type volume on top so I don’t mind the disconnect. The earlier cut with bangs was pretty well what I am going for. Thanks for helping us curly girls save thousands of dollars and save millions of tears after the salon! 💇♀
Absolutely gorgeous ladies! I love your hair color and shape Amanda!. I just wish I had half the hair as you. Great way to start my morning by laughing with you seesters ❤ Mel you lost me too😂
i needed this so bad! i haven't been able to afford a haircut in a year and a half and the length is driving me crazy, so this came at just the right time
I started cutting my hair at home due to you! I get confused with the hair around the ear, but this helped my understand overdirecting the hair! I can't wait to try this on my next cut! 💞
Y’all really saved me $300 and wow I’ll have to send you pics. I gave myself a curly cut after 6 months of transitioning and it looks so amazing 🥹 thank you for sharing these tutorials 🫶
Muchas gracias por la técnica, por fin me atreví a cortar mi propio pelo crespo y me encantó el resultado final, eres la mejor!! Saludos y suerte desde Chile.
Yes more tutorials like this. My hair is very dry, thin, and it shrinks about 4 inches. I am not a hairstylist but I think this is the haircut I need to make it look more fuller. I definitely do not feel comfortable doing this by myself because I am bound to mess it all up, and keeping my length is very important to me. I wish I could go to your salon to get a complete hair make over.😆
This is perfect because I also want a round shaped cut without losing too much length! I'm gonna try it at the end of next month so my hair will be cute (hopefully) for the new year 😊🤞🏼
Excellent!! Amanda - love the cut and the color is gorgeous! Mell's your instructions are fantastic. I'm really in need of a cut and thus is it! 💗💗💙⬅for Anthony
Considering cutting my hair again, although, I miss my lenght 😢 keep watching your videos of DYI cutting but I will stay calm and think clearly (without listening to the itching in my hand 😂)
This is perfectly timed for me! I’ve got shorter hair but I wanted to increase the volume and roundness of my cut as I’m getting the dreaded triangle head shape, so I’m going to try this method out to see how it works for me. Amanda, your hair looks amazing, and the colour is so pretty 🤩
I am looking forward to trying out this tutorial. It gives me hope that it's just shape that is making my hair look thinner than it really is. Ps no audio issues when I watched yesterday
I’d love to see an update of your DIY curly bob trim! It seems like the shape of your bob has changed a bit since your last DIY bob cut video….I don’t know if that means you’re using different techniques. Thanks for the content, watching your videos is the first time I’ve started understanding curly hair in 30rs!
Love you girls !! Amanda your hair looks amazing the color is great! You did an amazing job ❤ I would never be able to cut my own hair lol I have zero skills LOL The end scenes always sends me 😂
wow I paused for a long moment on the before and after and the difference is remarkable. She barely cut off any length and her hair looks sooo much healthier
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I never get my hair cut and my hair looks so flat. I’m definitely going to try this haircut this weekend. I love how your hair turned out :)
MEL !!!?? Did you guys see my comment and make this video?! 😭 ❤🎉 side note, you won’t believe I tried to drive to Canada my husband and I to go to your place to get my hair cut and it was late and we got stopped by the border control 😅😅 I had to show your website and everything 😅🎉🎉🎉 I love you guys … I wish to meet you both ! You remind me of me and my sister ❤❤
another great tutorial! Thank you seesters! also Mel, I remember you saying years ago you don't like how you look in black clothing, but you look amazing as always!
Ahh!! I think I may be brave enough to try after years of doing the unicorn/pigtail haircuts 👏 Amandas cut and color look amazing! (i did not have any sound issues on desktop or mobile)
@@ManesByMell I still have no sound I've refreshed, closed youtube reopened, several times I simply cannot hear you at all til 25mins In for some reason 🤷♀️
I've been cutting my own curly hair for 25 years and every day at LEAST one complete stranger approaches me to tell me how gorgeous my hair is. HAVE NO FEAR!!! Good luck!
How much love can we have for you two ❤🎉 I'm waiting ever6 video just to laugh 😃 a little and after to learn every single piece of curly thing I need for my hair 🎉❤ I definitely need a new scissor. Please any advice for a good but normal price and not from amazon cause we don't have in Greece acces 🎉😢
Your dynamics during these always make them a great watch! 😂 I need advice though.... How would you go about brush styling very long curly hair? Or is there a certain point where you'd no longer recommend it? I have hair down to my hips and I have a looser (and uneven) curl pattern. Send help!!

Anyone else not getting any sound of voices, only music, until around 25minutes? I don’t get it…is it on purpose?
That’s so weird!! We did experience some audio issues but I have audio on my end! 🥲 try refreshing the page and let me know if that helps!
That worked. Thanks!
Yes, me too
Yes there only partial audio and that sounds like it's under water😢
Refreshing didn't work
Omg you have to see my curls! How can I send you a picture? You can totally use me as an example
Love these cutting tips. Would love to see video on cutting shorter lengths, such as between both of your lengths. Thanks
same! i like mine around chin to just brushing my shoulders
I love that cut and color on Amanda!! Amanda is gorgeous no matter what style she has but this one is my favorite. ❤️ 😊
I love Amanda's current color pre-haircut. I can't hear but O can see.

Yes I'm getting weird sounds and no audio
If you’re using 1 headphone just put both in. Fixes the problem

I have a similar texture to Amanda’s hair and I can’t wait to try this cut for myself. I always hate asking for a dry cut and being told that I don’t need it then I end up with layers that flatten instead of fluff. Thank you for your videos!

Absolutely love the hair cut and color!!!
I’ll try this method next time, I struggle so much holding the scissors and being able to see where I have to cut 🙈😂 Love the new shape, Amanda! 🥰
Ahh!! I think I may be brave enough to try after years of doing the unicorn/pigtail haircuts 👏 Amandas cut and color look amazing! (i did not have any sound issues on desktop or mobile)
I've started over, fast forward, rewound... Still no audio. 😢 I just hear the background music like I'm watching Fantasia. 😂

I can't wait to try this on myself! I've been looking for a way to cut my hair exactly like this ❤
You are a mind reader because I totally cut some longer curls last night. 😄
Okay I am loving the brushed out curls
I DID IT and I love the results
Hair looks great! Good job Amanda!!❤
I've been cutting my own curly hair for 25 years and every day at LEAST one complete stranger approaches me to tell me how gorgeous my hair is. HAVE NO FEAR!!! Good luck!
Im so excited for this heheeee!! 😍
Edit* I loved it, I will give it a go next hair cut.
I love the colour Amanda 😍
Send help!!
love! im gonna need her hair color formula!
I liked it but i think i got lost at some points! Will definitely rewatch before trying it!
