Thank you so much for this video! I just got hired as a middle school theatre teacher and I'm a bit overwhelmed. Been doing theatre for 10+ years but first time teaching. Love the charging station and coat check ideas. A video on how you structure the beginning of every class would help as well! Keep up the great work.
Sending you all the best vibes! Be ready to fall in love with middle school students’ sense of play! They’re not afraid to take risks and have fun. They’re a great group to work with.
So cool!! No one has asked this? would love to get that improv picture!
Hi Janis! Feel free to send me an email (on my YT profile page) and I'll send a copy of that over to you!
I’m loving your content! Thank you so much for sharing! I’m applying to jobs right now and your videos are making me so excited for next school year!
Happy to help! :)
Thank you so much for this video! I am a first year Drama teacher, and I’m very nervous and overwhelmed. Seeing the structure of your class was very helpful!
No problem! If you haven’t already - find the theatre teacher Facebook groups and join. They’re a wealth of knowledge!
This is a great video, thank you! Would you be able to do a video of what lesson plans, and curriculum you use?
Omg, SUBSCRIBED
Can you share where you got your tables?
I’m sorry, my school already had those so I’m not sure where they came from, but if you search collapsible round table I’m sure something similar will pop up!
I’m new to MS drama this year. What resources do you use to find all the scripts and things to preview for your production choice?
For our plays I first go to websites that allow you to read the entire script online for free to peruse - Your Stage Partners and Playscripts INC. both allow this and are a great place to start. For musicals your options are limited - MTI (Music Theatre International) and Concord Theatricals hold 80% of the titles out there and you will always have to pay for a perusal script from Concord...unless you happen to find it somewhere in a casual Google search - which is more likely for older more established shows. MTI allows you to read a digital copy of most scripts on their site - so I would start with them. I hope this helps! Break a leg!
