only thing i want to mention about this is the amazing 4k display which rivals Macs in my opinion, super impressed, got a refurbished one still under warranty for 800 AUD and just love using it, the poor dim display with low color reproduction stopped me in the past from getting one but so impressed with T14
Thank you very much ROGÉRIO FILHO, there is a lot to cover and don't like to waste people time too =). Great to hear you got something useful from the video =). Seasonal greetings to you.
Thanks if you look into this do look into Gen 2, been too busy to upload the unboxing of T14 Gen 2 and the processor is much better, worth looking into if you are into the T14, AMD version is even better.
Nice review. I ordered the T14 AMD on September 25th, expecting it on the 6th of November. I think the T14 AMD is a better option for must people due to the price and power increase with a lower wattage to boot. I think the intel is only viable for people who have a need for Thunderbolt. And I just tried out the L13 Yoga in Best Buy today; such solid construction and really made me happy that I chose a Thinkpad. Also, out of the 20 something laptop keyboards I tried, the Thinkpad keyboard absolutely DESTROYED them all.
Hi Vovical, welcome to my videos, I am expecting the T14 AMD to arrive any day and I also think it will do much better in performance as well as power too added fact it is much cheaper too. Through the years of playing with many keyboards both for gaming and business, the Thinkpad keyboard is still one of the best, gives great feel and balance to quietness and feedback as well as good spacing and size too, so I agree to your thoughts on it.
Excellent review, thanks! Actually is the only T14 Intel review I’ve found. I have a question, because I ordered one, is this T14 compatible with a eGPU?
Thanks Osmany Hernández , I know most people are flocking to the T14 AMD but many businesses will still use Intel as they need vPro. An eGPU should be compatible with this T14, it does have 4 lanes bandwidth I checked for the thunderbolt.
I like the idea behind a privacy shutter, but if you are concerned about these things, are you not also concerned about people listening to you also? It would be nice if the privacy shutter also disconnected the microphone somehow as well (if it doesn't already).
Thanks for the detailed review. How is the temperature/heat on the T14 (intel i5 10g) ? does it get hot? compare with T14s intel, which one is cooler from a temperature standpoint?
Thanks Simon, I created a review for the Ryzen version of this T14, you find the battery life covered for it here: ruclips.net/video/UkedV2CB2WU/видео.html
THanks very much MR MS FE, it depends how you configure the T14, you can configure it to have backlit keys or not. If you check in the configurations on the one you selected when ordering it will tell you.
Some do and some don't. It depends on whether your machine was specified with one. If it has a backlit keyboard there will be a light symbol on the left side of the space bar. CTRL and Space turn in the key lights if your machine has it.
Oh gawd. I got this thinkpad from work. We're supposed to use it out on the field -- no wall sockets. I've called in twice to work now that I'm not able to do anything cos the battery got drained. With my old x270 we just carried spare batteries.
I have number of clients who do the same go out in the field, extremely rural/remote areas and my suggestion for them to purchase an USB-C laptop battery charger, the T14 only requires 65Watts to charge so most laptop battery chargers will support it including the generic ones. They look like your mobile phone power banks just with bigger charge.
I got this laptop from work, currently running external monitor at 3440x1440 via HDMI only at 30hz. Could I get higher 60hz+ with better USBC to dp1.4? It either be good if you can do testing on external monitors in you laptop reviews in the future.
Thanks so much! Very in dept love your review format with the db levels at different loads also. Could add CPU+GPU loads with that also to see if that change the db levels heat and throttling. Looking forward to the AMD version will it be the R5 or R7 ?
Cheers for the feedback Enzo Gorlomi, I will be getting in the Ryzen 7 for the AMD version. I'm very interested to see the heat and battery life of the R7 compare to the i5.
Sorry took so long but finally got around to edit and upload the AMD version of the T14 which you can view here: ruclips.net/video/UkedV2CB2WU/видео.html
@@BsianTech Thank you so much! I've picked this laptop up when it became available (it's gone now already) I knew I had to be fast when stock comes in. I've been loving this machine its a beast gives me the performance I need while not ever getting loud (I've tried others and they where too loud) My first thinkpad and i'm loving the quality! Thanks your intel review helped me pull the trigger! Cheers!
@@enzogorlomi5300 You are very welcome and great to hear good feedback and your throughts on the performance and noise of this computer. I understand its hard to explain the noise so the sound test I do perform are when the room is really silent at night but when working during the day time most can't be heard.
My company got me a P14s which is basically the T14 with Nvidia graphics - some notes for buyers 1) The sound quality on my machine was so low , I actually bought external speakers 2) The Intel CPU is barely more powerful than the previous range and really lets this machine down. Get AMD if you can because with the Intel CPU it doesn't feel like you have a new machine. Unfortunately most corporates go Intel for some reason
I'm actually considering this laptop , I've figured out my max workload will stress the laptop at 30-40% CPU & 35% GPU simultaneously on R5 model. I might go for the R7 but not sure if needed. Would this be a good contender or should I look elsewhere ? These loads it will need to handle for multiple hours/day
I haven't received the AMD version which I had on order for a number of months now so I couldn't tell you right now but from testing another Ryzen 5 (15W) laptop it has very impressive performance compare to the i5 and even an i7 (45W).
I haven't come across a T14 that has overheating issues and I would be bold to say those be isolated units that have other faults causing overheating. I had supported a lot of T14 units I don't recall putting a T14 in for service for overheating issue rather I have place a service for one unit where the system fan was producing errors.
@@BsianTech Lenovo page states WVA = Wide Viewing Angle Panel. Seems like a characteristic of IPS. VA panel does not really have wide viewing angle. I'm not too sure though
It all depends on the type of performance you require. If you need more than 16GB RAM and discrete graphics then go with the T14, else go with the X1 Carbon as it's really nice size, really good speakers and amazing weight.
If you looking for a little bit of gaming look into the AMD version of the T14, it's integrated graphics is better than the Intel version as well as saving you a bit of money too.
I have been told it can be but I haven't tried, also been told using the WWAN slot there is a bit of a performance hit on that SSD but still its better than having a USB drive sticking out of the USB all the time as extra storage.
