That's like saying, if you don't like what your government is doing, move to a different country. Sheer nonsense, of course. We have a responsibility to improve the groups we work with, the institutions we study in, the countries we live in, etc.
Why does it fall on a university to be making statements about international geopolitics? Taking “official positions” threatens what little academic freedom still exists on modern North American campuses.
The point is to disinvest and distance from companies profiting from genocide. Seems pretty straightforward. Cowardice says, don't try to do anything, shrug ones shoulders. Cowardly, and shameful.
Easier for the non-college organizers to rile up a campus than invest on adults already in the workforce. Lets not be naive. These adult non student organizers are responsible for riling up Middle East students during the Arab Spring and Tiananmen which ended badly in China. I have no problem with students protesting and trying to change the policies of the Administration. I do have a problem with Professors and aides who try to push their agenda by using students as their envoys. Lets be real, if this was just a student protest, it would be 20 to 40 students hanging out in a quad somewhere trying to get themselves heard. This is a protest orchestrated by the faculty and outside forces. The students are just sponges that are trying their best to soak up as much information as possible. In my opinion, probably not from the best sources.

If students disagree with who is the university does business with, they should drop out.
And then only people with no morals are allowed to get an education. That's not fair.
