      God bless Fats Waller and Art Tatum for having the bright idea to drag the Hammond organ out of the church and into the jazz club. We owe all future organ greatness to them. If it weren't for them, we might still only be hearing this instrument behind "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" and "Rock Of Ages," or at the baseball game.

    It's songs like this from my high school years that are probably responsible for my love of the Hammond B3 and the Leslie speaker. Years ago, I produced a local blues festival, and I always had a least one band that a keyboardist playing a B3. I'm still a sucker for that sound. However, my stagehands that had to move these heavy organs were not as enthusiastic as me about it, lol.

    • @dalexfilms
      @dalexfilms Год назад

      Luckily, newer electronics can copy the B3 sound pretty well in much lighter packages, and they're getting close on the Leslie vibrato sound, too. The moving/undulating sound of an accelerating or braking Leslie rotor is almost orgasmic. I can relate to your enthusiasm!

    I was eight when this song was released (1968) and it's still one of my all time favorites of any genre. Your analysis was spot on. In my opinion, the line "I need her lovin' and I'm not to blame now" is his way of saying, "It's HER fault for putting me in this mess in the first place. Not mine!" Yeah, right! 😄

    Bless you, sir, bless you. As a fifty-five-year-old who grew up in the sanctity of Classic Rock, Deep Purple's "Hush" is *THE GREATEST CLASSIC ROCK SONG. EVER.* John Lord's organ is the Devil and St. Augustine mixed together in one. Loved watching you hear it for the first time.

    The “Na, nana na, nana na, nana naa” tune is the same as the “aaaa” tune in the middle of the Beatles “A Day in the Life” (the end of Paul McCartney’s part, “someone spoke and I went into a dream...aaaaa”. Deep Purple even slowed it down in the final few seconds of the song like the way the Beatles sing it.

From this moment i was addicted to classic rock. Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, The Animals etc. I love that music till today. That‘s why i love your channel

    Maaaaaan, I been waiting a minute for you to do this one. I knew that stanky Jon Lord organ would twist ya face up! Telling you, bruh, you need some Sugarloaf, "Green Eyed Lady"; Santana, "Oye Como Va"; and Emerson Lake And Palmer, "Hoedown" (make sure it's live in Milan 1973). As a longtime Hammond organ stankface-maker myself, those are all 100% guaranteed keyboard stankface.

    You got it, Jamel! I weaned on this stuff when I was a kid. My parents didn't really understand, but that was our generation. This song, in particular, took my mind and my spirit to places I've never been... and it still has the same effect today. What I didn't realize as a 10-12 yr old back then was how much the 60s music scene was influenced by the blues from decades earlier... the 60s guys just had more electricity, that's all! LOL! It's still amazing, though. From Deep Purple to the Beatles to Led Zeppelin to the Rolling Stones to a whole slew of 'em. It's an expression of soul. So glad you're doing this.
