Have a great day, my lovely!
Chandi
I am only 9 and I have been able to make hats scarfs blankets and so much more because of your videos
Love you so much my anty taught me how to do the single crochet
I feel like we would like each other if we met, I'm just around your age and that's cool your aunt taught you some crochet stitches.
Great good for you. I'm 53 and struggling with this beanie! Your awesome!
I love watching your videos. You're fun to watch and a good teacher. It helps that you're also "animated". Who likes watching someone dull and monotone that sounds like that teacher from Ferris Bueller's Day Off? (Hopefully you know who I'm talking about.)
Fantastic lesson. Clear in focus video, close up images, good voice, easy pattern, great hat when you are down. All beginning crochet students should watch this video. Thank you for making these videos.
Thanks for the lovely compliment, Sandra!
I'm enjoying how you give instructions
I need to make a beanie for my niece. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome, glad you like our tutorials. Enjoy! 💕
Thanks! I needed a refresher, been crocheting for 45 plus years and have made a fair number of hats but drew a complete blank when I tried to start one after about 3-4 years of obsessively crocheting cardigans for a few years. This was a very nice, clear, conscise video. Sandy is a great instructor. I wish I could hire her to help me masks a top down crochet cardigan!!Sorry this is sooo long, just one more thing. I have been dying for a chevron cardigan pattern that’s doesn’t look like it came from Grannie’s attic. I would love a cozy, snuggly sweater, but a modern, sleek one would be cool too. I’ll leave that up to you. I’ve asked several RUclipsrs about designing a cardigan such as this, but it’s been at least 2 years and no one has created my dream chevron cardigan😥. Thanks again Sandy.
That is something we can try to do! I'm so glad that the videos are helpful. Have a wonderful day!
Brilliant video, I'm a beginner and am really pleased with how well my first hat has turned out :)
Thank you! Yours is the first video I've come across that clearly explains how to join a round. My joins were messy because I was doing it wrong. Now my hats are going to be wonderful! thank you so much!
Awesome! Glad the video helped! : )
Thank you thank you
You were the first to go into detail about measuring the right size for your head that your making the hat for.
I've always wanted to know that. Your tutorial and directions were great. I love the hat
Happy crocheting and a wonderful days ahead
Thanks again
😄🌸🌻🌺
You are welcome! I'm so glad you found the video helpful! 😊
I want to thank each one of you for showing me how to crochet different items such as hats and blankets.
Thanks for watching! ❤️
Girl you video was awesomeeeeeeeeee! You added a lil humor which made it even more fun to watch. I especially appreciate how you showed us CLEARLY where the stitches go. Thats the most aggravating part when you watch other peoples videos. EX: Starting the first row & counting up 3 chains. I always got that wrong but not no more WOOT WOOT
+Kim Bell YAY! Thanks!
You are my favorite crochet teacher to watch. Could you crochet a beginning crochet beret Please and a beginning crochet sock Please
Hi Vicki, happy to hear that you enjoy our tutorials so much. Thank you for your suggestions. I've added them to our list.
We do offer several crocheted sock patterns that you can find here: expressionfiberarts.com/categories/patterns.html?_bc_fsnf=1&Craft=Crochet&Project+Type=Socks
But unfortunately they don't come with video tutorials.
Have a wonderful day! 💕
I am an experienced crochet person. Your video is wonderful. All the others were so slow but you make it fun.x
Thanks Dorothy!
I'm not a beginner but this is so easy I can't _not_ do it. Thanks for the video! :D
+9 plus 10 Pilots You are welcome!
This video is really helpful. I never made a hat before, but it looks like its turning out great :)
Wonderful!
this is PERFECT timing. I literally was looking at your videos yesterday to see if you had a crochet hat for infants. Now you do! time to get working. thanks :-)
+Kelly Hutchinson I do love perfect timing! : )
Fantastic video, especially explanations on calculating sizes/rows/measurements etc. much appreciated, thanks, had some leftover yarn from doing a scarf for my mum, making her up a hat to match.
Hi chandi your hat are very beautiful thank you for sharing stay safe ❤❤❤
This was a great video! Gave me the confidence to attempt a hat. Much easier than many other videos! Thank you! I look forward to checking out what other videos you have.

+loversfire Fantastic! Thanks for watching! : )
Thanks so much for the help! I am sooooo excited to start crocheting!!!!! Thanks for all the help!😊😊😊😊😘😘😘😘
+sara coral You are welcome!
Thank you for always making high quality videos! I love your work 😍😍😍❤💓💕
+Corona Christ 💜
Very well presented, thank you. How can I crotchet a hat that allows me to have holes at the ear positions so my headphones are in contact with my ears? I have seen people adding pockets, but I would prefer something more streamlined and not flapping around. Once again, thanks for the great videos.
Glad you enjoyed it. We don't have a pattern like that, but you can always search the Ravelry database for a hat with that feature. It's likely that someone has already designed something similar.
@@ExpressionFiberArts Thank you for responding so swiftly. Yes, I have looked at that database. I also found that you can just reverse the bag tote bag design and start the pattern like a hat. As a man who wants to be more self sufficient, I would highly recommend your playslists. I'll be going through them over the next year. Many thanks, EFA. 😊
Love your videos.
Thank you so much!
Music I play during tutorial please!!!! Between the music and the stitches I worked myself into a trance. Lovely teaching and working technique. Thank you for taking your time to teach us.
You are so welcome! I'm not actually sure which music I used during this tutorial. It was just some of the random tracks on RUclipss free music library. ❤️
@@ExpressionFiberArts I see, very chill music for crocheting. Love your style and I have subscribed. I am brand new to crocheting but I am already building my confidence with your patient help. Thank you.
your videos were the first I watched that resulted in a successful project. thank you so much for the tutorials, absolutely beautiful yarn. my birthday is around the corner, I think I know what is on my wish list!
+coastalb1 Yay!
So after you left us on our own to crochet do you just continue adding one more single crochet or do we do the same stitch from the last stitch you left us off?
Cute Mango I was hoping she continue to add the square. Disappointed.
Love it!
lovin the lighting hubby used and they way you measured your head. I use the same "i can't see" method..with more colorful words. LOL!!!
+Lori Lynette My husband is so glad that you noticed the lighting! ha ha ha! : ) 💜
we gotta show hubs love too. my graphic design education will never leave me. Lol!!
lol!
always a pleasure
yay! I just made this hat with you. Thank you thank you
Wonderful!
Chandi, first of all I am SO ADDICTED TO YOUR VIDEOS!!!! You are so awesome!!! My stuff doesn't look like yours and it has gaps between stitches. Is that because I need to use a larger hook?
It is just a matter of technique. As you get better, your stitches will become more even! Have fun!
Gin Villarreal hey mom what's up
Interested in making beginner Cardigan sweaters got upcoming cooler weather.
Great suggestion! Thank you!
Thankyou so much for your clear explanation of crocheting an easy beanie. I am looking for a Lego Ninja beanie for my 4 year old grandson. Can you help? I did a test beanie that should fit my five year old grandson. It wound up to be our 22inch size heads. I would love to make it into a Lego Ninja beanie as well. Might make a “patch” for the eyes. I’d rather have the eyes as one piece. Can you help either way? Thank you ahead of time, Kathy
Love Chandi!
finished! wish i could figure out how to post picture lol
Thanks.
You're welcome
I'm fascinated by the way you hold the hook and yarn! I'd love to crochet this way but I just can't manage to make it work the way you do haha, I'm jealous.
+Amy Jo Steel : )
ExpressionFiberArts :) Do you have a tutorial on how to do it that way? If not I would love to see one!
It's going on our "videos to create list" : )
awesome vid
it was so helpful for me
you rescued me girl 😊💗😂
This video was so helpful! Thank you so much!
You are welcome!
Thank you. God bless you.
You are welcome!
Hi there! I will be attempting to make a beanie as a Christmas gift for the boyfriend ( wanted to start early so more time for mistake making x] ) and I had a few questions!. I understand the 2 dc then 1-1, and then the following row will be 2 dc then 1-1-1, then 2 dc then 1-1-1-1, so on and so forth until you reach the measurements. You said that once you reach the right measurement you stop increasing the 1. After that, we only do 1 dc in each knot or stitch or two legs until however long we want the hat to be? and doing the one 1 dc in each will just help with lengthen the hat, correct? and when we finish each round, even the end of the first round when you do the 10 dc and join it into the first dc, is it easy to distinguish which stitch to use to make a slipknot in? I fear it may be a little difficult to identify where to make a slipknot at, and I could possibly ruin something good I may have going on lol. Apologies for such a long comment! But I do appreciate and thank you for your time to respond if you ever stumble upon this!
Jasmine Glover at the beginning of each row you could tie a bit of yarn onto the first stitch made. This should help it be easier to distinguish at the end of the round. Hope that helps!
Yeah I got lost I helped make a hat but never started it so I feel handicapped and I keep missing up. It's very frustrating
Yeah same here mine is either to small or to tight. I'm not sure about the hook size either. She said G mine are numbered. I think thats a 4.5 but not even sure.
Hi, loved your tutorial, so easy to follow, how would i go about making it slightly slouchy, would i just do several more of the straight rows? thanks :D
Any suggestions for sore/cramped fingers? What do you do? And do your hands not get sore anymore from years of experience?
+Delilah Olicker I have a blog posts about getting sore wrists from knitting/crocheting. You can check it out here blog.expressionfiberarts.com/2012/01/01/my-wrists-hurt-from-knitting/ Some of the people who have commented on the blog have excellent suggestion for dealing with pain while crafting. : )
Beautiful beannie hat
Thank You!
Hi Chandi, I learned how to crochet this summer by watching your videos. Thank you so much. I'm trying to figure out why I have a visual vertical seam when I am doing the same number of stitches rows. Help if you know what I might be doing wrong.
It is pretty typical to have a visual seam when you are doing this type of project. Over time, you develop better technique so that you can hide it a little better. Keep practicing and you will get there! 😍❤️
Awesome video, thanks for making this! I did have one question - I was practicing with some yarn I had on hand and I noticed that when I did the first slip stitch, a bit of yarn made a kind of bump off to the side rather than squish into the circle. I'm assuming that is because my chain stitches were too big? Or is that normal?
Thank you!
Thanks that was really helpful
Thanks this really helped make me a hat
Congrats on 100k! Can you guys please do a giveaway? pls no Facebook, Twitter, Instagram entries (i don't have those!) Please take this into consideration. Also thank you for showing us all the wonderful tutorials. I love your work! 😄
+Squidlier Minecraft We are certainly considering it! Stay tuned.
Thank you so much!!😀
Amazing video, Thank you soo much, almost every hat tutorial I have watched uses a crazy amount of yarn and I don't understand them.. This video was very clear and I am making a hat for my mom! =) Also, I only have thick yarn and big crochet hooks, will this work too?
It should work! Thank you so much!
This video is awemazing, oh thanks alot
You are so welcome!
Can u do a video on kitted snoody or crochet for me please. Thank you! I love your videos!
That's a fabulous idea! We will certainly add it to our list of videos to create!
Chandi, when you say to work a double crochet in a chain, do you mean the hook continues to be inserted into the same chain stitch over and over until you've worked the number of stitches required?
yes!
I can usually get my hands on #4 yarn. What changes do I need to do? Thank you!
Just make sure you get gauge and then follow the steps. 😊
Thank you
So… does it matter what kind of hook you use of does it have to be the specific one asked for?
I love what you do and maybe can you make a vid on a baby hat💜❤️
SlipKnot Rulz! High Love! Peace!
+HASH Yes!
Love Love Love your video !!! What if I want to use a bulkier yarn? Do I still use the same measurement of 20" for my head then start the sides? I wish you had a pattern with the round numbers for that as I get so confused, but with you stating that you go to 80 is so helpful.
Yes, you are absolutely correct. Use the measurement for the circumference of your head. ❤️
Cool :) ! I want to try making some of these
+maz zavala17 Fantastic!
Oh no my hat is getting pretty big but its just a floppy disc! I am maintaining 80 stitches a row but also when its time for me to connect the row, im a few stitches away from the first double crochet... getting further away each round :(
Love your videos! How would I crochet a slouchy hat? Do you have a video?
Not yet.
Would this work if I do it in the back stitch for a ribbed look?
I love it!
+Mama Bonsell Thanks!
Love it !!!!!!!!getting ready to try now. Do you also do bags ?
+Richell Knight We have a crochet bag pattern on our site. expressionfiberarts.com
Can we do a single stich to make the crochet hat?
Which increase round should I stop for a 9 month old?
you r the BEST! :)
so I'm on the sixth row how would that go?? it's for my 1yr and seven month old.
I hope you can understand my question okay so I got this the information that I need it but I can't find the pattern so I could profit from a machine on my printer so so for that I understand the round I do that but when I came to to start a new row the first 2 Chainz is it on a
if you want to make a female adult hat how many increase rounds do you do?
Very nice tutorial but
having trying to follow your pattern, it seems that the stitches are too many for an adult woman size!
I mean the (eighty stitches) at the end of increases!!!!
The start till sixty stitches is(6th round) is very very nice but the problem is after!!!
Thank you! 😍
It will depend on your gauge - you can just make it whatever size you prefer by increasing until you like the circumference. :)
Wow I am really going to try it wow pand thanked by the way I subscribe to your channel
That was easy
@ExpressionFiberArts I have a size H hook, would that work to make this hat or does it specifically have to be a size G hook? This looks like a really easy hat to make crocheted. Thank you so much Chandi, you're amazing!!!!
Sure, you can use a size h hook! Let me know how it goes. : )
I definitely will let you know how it goes!! Thanks for getting back to me Chandi!!
Will worsted weight yarn work for this beanie or does it have to be dk weight yarn?
You can use either or. : )
sweetthing213
Also can you keep going to be able to do a fold up brim about 2 to 3 inches
you sure can!
You are really good🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Vada a yuger RUclips
I would love for you to display making an adult bootie/sock
Thanks for the suggestion! : )
If you check out my blog, www.blog.expressionfiberarts.com I have a post on how to make some booties. Make sure you check it out.
ExpressionFiberArts how many inches was the hat when you finished
When you start are you making a magic ring?
Mine is not turning out right. . I dont know what I'm doing wrong I've counted the stitches and its like it's the same size instead of getting larger. I really like this beanie to I want to make some for myself snx kids and grandkids. My hooks are not sized by letters either its numbers maybe I'm using the wring size hook I dont know help!
When you count your stitches each row, are they increasing? You should be getting the stitch counts each row as shown on the pattern card you received. ❤️
Thank you for such a quick reply your great and the yarn you create on your website is beautiful!
Thank you I'm going to try again and practice practice practice
I tried ch4 n 10dc in the 4th chain from hook. However the hole never got bigger like yours. Why? Hmm could you ch4 and do 10dc in the ring as well?
Perhaps your slip stitch was just tighter than mine. :) But yes, working into the ring would be perfect as well.
@@ExpressionFiberArts I'm still getting the hang of my tensions when it comes to making beanies. Trial and error I guess lol I think you were the first real beanie video I watched when I first was learning how to make hats. I loved your personality
How many rounds is in the hat completely 20 or 24?
New to circle crochet start. so I'm asking how do you determine how many rows from a infant to a adult sizes is there a chart somewhere I can download or is it just a matter of rolls
If you look online, you should be able to find some charts. We don't currently have that information. Great question!
am i right in saying the bigger the hook goes the bigger the hat gets cause im just trying to calculate how big and wide the hat will be if i use a 5.5mm hook
Yep, in theory, the bigger the hook the bigger the hat.
Ive started this hat but its all uneven, its not in dc is it, its in half trebles!!
you know it would be really helpful if you could put a link in the description for the "ultra begginer" video
helpful suggestion! Thanks!
No problem
Or just go to her playlist and select it yourself.
I am trying to make a beanie with a triple stitch. how would it differ from this pattern?
