A plane destined for Kingston, Jamaica is scheduled to deport a group of foreign nationals who committed offences in the UK.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said “the people of this country will think it right to send back foreign national offenders.”
But a draft report into the Windrush scandal, commissed by Sajid Javid when he was home secretary, says the government should consider ending the deportation of foreign born offenders who came to the UK as children.
The findings come in a draft of the Windrush Lessons Learned Review leaked to the Labour MP David Lammy and seen exclusively by Newsnight.
The mother of an offender due to be deported to Jamaica next week says her son would be allowed to stay if the recommendations in the draft Windrush report were implemented. Carline Angus says her son Tajay Thompson was convicted as a teenager for possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.
She says, “My son came here when he was five so why is he in this category [to be deported]? I think he should be given a chance. If you don’t give him a chance to rehabilitate himself how can he learn?”
The Home Office told Newsnight it does not comment on leaks. A spokesperson said: “The planned charter flight to Jamaica is specifically for removing foreign criminals. Those detained for removal include people convicted of manslaughter, rape, violent crime and dealing Class-A drugs.”

In 2010 my granddaughter was brutally assaulted . She was walking home from school when she was abducted at knife point. Her Rapist was here illegally. We were told by the home office he would be deported. We have since discovered that his family and friends are appealing his deportation because he as a child here. And for him to return to his native country would be a death sentence for him. What about my granddaughter and the other innocent girls that are suffering. Please think before you oppose these deportations.

Maybe Diane Abbott should do the following: A- Go drug rehab centres and see the destruction, devastation and misery Class A drugs cause. Ask everyone there including victims and staff on what they think about those who supply Class A drugs. B-The victims who died because they were hooked on hard drugs. Try and speak face to face with their relatives and hear what they say about those who pushed hard drugs on their loved ones.C-Ask if you can spend a couple of days with the emergency services and go on call-outs with them regarding the direct consequences of hard drugs. This could be the police, ambulances/paramedics or other services. Ask them what they think about those who sell these hard drugs. Hard drugs have a domino effect on other crimes such as burglary with violence, robbery with violence, domestic violence. Also, Diane Abbott should refresh herself with the law. Supplying Class A Drugs is a very serious offense, as is murder, armed robbery etc. Also, the economic cost drugs bring. This is one of the many reasons why a lot of people voted to leave / Brexit.Would this woman's son have supplied Class A drugs in Malaysia or Indonesia? Don't break the law it's that easy to follow.

Do I have this right ?....they do not have British passports & they were not born in the UK but were allowed in to this country when they were young....so...perhaps they should have thought about the repercussions before they committed the crimes they were convicted of.....just like any other foreign national living in this country, you commit a crime you are deported back to your country of origin....so if they are allowed to stay what stops any other foreign criminal demanding the same treatment, a hard lesson to learn but look on the bright side...at least the weathers better than here.
