Wow, just wow! Modelling has finally matured. I played around with POD and others back in the 90s and eventually abandoned it for real tubes. Sounds like it's time to give it another try.
In the computer software for the Preamp Live, you can export your presets including tone capture as .mo files. Don't suppose you'd be up for sharing the Kraken tone capture?
sorry to be off topic but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot the password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@William Anakin thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
You can take the Preamp with you in your local guitar store with that boutique amp you want to buy, capture the tone of said amp and you're ready to go
Products like this make me question is it really worth buying a kemper etc Today.... those products are years old now and they still cost loads more then this.... am i missing something?
Love watching you play, and really excited you chose to demo this pedal. I’ve been researching this pedal as well. Quality demos and always humble. Modern day guitar hero
Great demo Rabea! I was thinking on buying some of Mooer's individual micro preamps but after hearing and watching the review, I think this Preamp Live unit is a better deal. I was thinking on getting about 4 or 5 different individual Mooer Micro Preamp pedals. They usually go for about $100 U.S. a piece. You get 12 preamps to start with this unit and with the software you can get access to about 50 preamps that they have plus the Tone Capture feature is amazing if you have some amps at home that you want to add to this unit. Holy Crap what a value!!!!
I love the sound of mine! This thing is seriously powerful with dynamic response which is awesome. I run mine direct into the sound board at home and it's great!
I honestly wish they'd offer a "half" version this pedal. Like 2 channels. Not that its oversized for what it does.but i only ever need 2 of the channels. I have 3 and 4 set up as practice volume settings of my other 2.
Great stuff, bro! Been digging mine since I got it and the tone capture feature is well worth the price of admission! I've captured all 4 tones of my V30mkII into the Preamp Live and have taken it on tour into the efx return of rental amps and even going direct to FOH. Let's swap tone capture files 😉
What I like about the micro preamp pedals from Mooer, is that they’re essentially a two channel amp. Clean/overdrive is one push. It seems here you have to tap dance to change from a clean to a dirty sound. Wish they’d have modelled the clean/od thing per preset, instead of the boost function.
Had mine a while and only just started really messing with it, omg I got an amazing dumble style tone, stuck spring reverb and a slight slap delay and it sounds just like Robben Ford, if only I could play like that, lol. The clean and overdrive sounds I’ve had out of it are just awesome, into my Tempus, funny I put the zen drive into and it sounded good but I can get the sound near enough without it. My question to anyone out there is a Helix floor as good?
What I really love is that you don't need to connect it to your computer, because you can do almost everything with the mobile app over bluetooth. The only thing I needed my computer for was to load some IR's into it.
Thanks for a great review, i orderd one based on your thoughts. I'm curious if it can capture distortion pedals, such as boss MT2 (just an example) and run it instead of a preamp.
Can I use the USB-out to directly record my guitar on PC? I mean, working as an audio-interface. Or the USB works exclusively for controling the pedal on PC? Thanks
Its a great unit, sounds great into any power section of a real amp and cabinet. The tone capture is very impressive and will get you 95% there, tweak away for the other 5%. The only issue I have with the tone capture is that you need to save the capture on the same preset you are working with. So if you liked the stock JCM900 preamp and used it for source in capture, you will lose that JCM900 stock preamp when you save the new tone capture. I wish this unit gave me some empty banks to save to so I didnt have to save over the original loaded preset.
Clicking the factory reset button in the software,it says this will reset all factory defaults. My question is , will this only apply to the Live stompbox or include even the defaults inside the software? I want to keep the 12 preamp channels in the software, they sound very very nice.
Loving all these floor Preamp pedals coming out, seems like it's gonna be the new "lunchbox amp" type trend. Also, Damn that PRS is sexy. Side note, Bea do you think we could see Rita again at some point soon, haven't seen her in years. Maybe a s-type shootout 2.0 is in order given you've made a few acquisitions in the past couple years. Alternatively maybe an experiment with Single coils in a prog/metal context might be cool, just remembering the killer tones Dan got out of Red on the Metal Zone episode.
PRS sexy? Different strokes I guess. Too much bling for me. It seems like fluffy dice pimp style to me. I like wood grains and nice finishes but understated and not too loud. I went thru a stage of liking the really fancy stuff though, but ended up going for black with nitro and no binding. Funny how tastes change. Only thing I like non stop years on end is peanut butter. :D
There definitely is something to be said for understated guitars, they can look just as gorgeous IMO. But I just have a thing for that double-cut PRS shape I guess (the tone can get a bit muddy for my tastes though) I think some of my favourite PRS that've come out have been either the S2s or a limited run satin red-burst CE24 from the other year, but yeah I can kinda see how they can be a bit over the top.
Rabea, your hands remind me of Andre the Giant. Frikking huge! Also, choosing between this, the Kraken Preamp and the just announced Helix Stomp is proving to be harder than I thought.
Hi from Malta ! Just want to ask if it sounds any good direct for example into a pa or foh , pretty much is it necessary to have it plugged into the return ? Thanks !
2nd question...does it have MIDI? Thinking about controlling all downline delays and reverbs (Strymon, etc.) by programming a Mooer patch, then it changes all the modulation pedals too.
It works good with FRFR speaker? I mean guitar processors are ok with frfr active speakers. How this one react? Already have loaded IR and I'm thinking that can be a good match...
Is this basically like having all the little Moore pre amp pedals in one single pedal? And also, would it be a good idea to use this with a Moore Radar, and would these 2 guys give me a huge range of clean, dirty, and distorsion amp tones? thanks!
Wow! I was so impressed with this brilliant video that I, 1, instantly subscribed, 2, I went straight out and I bought one! The best thing I ever did. There’s a lot in it, especially when you go USB out into a computer. That will take me a long time to get my head around it but it’s quite simple. There’s just so much in it. It’s in my touring rig. A Marshall EL34 50/50 into a Marshall 4 /12 stereo cab. Outboard so far is a recent Mooer Ocean Machine and next in the entourage will be, FX wise.............., I’ll wait for you to to a video and then I will go for that one! Maybe that will be a silly question, but I still want to know this haha If I plug this in the fx loop of my amp...can I still use my clean and distortion from it or I can only use the pedal ones? I would buy this to add more channels if you will because I already love my EVH 5150 III!

Line 6 and Guitar Rig etc that I tried let me get away with stuff, which I stopped doing because I was getting into bad playing habits. Is this thing honest like an amp is?
what the hell are you even talking about? What bad habits? I mean sure if you plug into a dry amp without reverb or delay, it's hard to mask dead notes, but that's not the fault of the amp or the digital version.
I know exactly what you mean. There’s a certain transparency in valve amps that gets hidden in modelers and digital stuff. The low quality modelers can be squishy or sound like they have a blanket over them.
I had this shock also for the first time when playing on a Blues Junior, it's just so much more responsive to anything else I've tried and you have to be really careful to mute strings you don't want to hear and when transitioning between chords.
Please Rabea, answer this question. What is your experience of this unit on your headphones? I have a Boss Katana head that sounds great in the room but crap on my headphones. Does the Mooer cab sim make a difference?
