This is very thorough review. Thank you, Nick! Quick question, I understand that Cab sim is used to connect directly to the PA to have emulated guitar speaker sounds. And the cab sim is set to off, If the Mooer is connected to guitar combo amp. However, if I set the cab sim ON with an acoustic guitar amp (full range speaker), would it make that amp responded as if it was a decent combo guitar amp with cab sim OFF?
Great review, but really, the only TRUE way to assess this preamp is to hear it within a band environment and, I the case of the DI/speaker sim inside a studio recording.
Noooooooo, those are the WORST reviews, LOL. I much prefer to hear the raw sound. Or at least BOTH. But I skip the ones where they are playing over a backing track and such.
@@JimmyCafarella hahaha! Just watching reviews and saw you 😂 I think this paired with a really nice 6l6 power amp is my next rig. Not sure which effects unit I'll use yet.
You are an excellent guitarist and this is a great review of the Preamp Live. You really showed what this awesome and amazing product can do and you did it very well. However, things get very convoluted and muddled when you start to talk about the "TONE CAPTURE" feature. The way that you, and several more of the RUclipsr gear reviewer types, describe this function as capturing "the preamp" of your actual amp isn't accurate as I understand. I'm fairly sure it doesn't capture any gain stage of your real amp. It's just capturing the EQ. It then pairs that EQ with the gain of the preamp that you matched to your real amp from the Preamp Live. I could be wrong but I've watched the official Mooer video and also discussed this with them at NAMM. Check it out at around the 8:10 mark: ruclips.net/video/nylwk2IXw1Y/видео.html Either way, this his an amazing piece of gear. I'm actually currently using it at live shows sending the XLR out with a model of my amp to the front of house. Now I just use my amp on stage for a monitor for me. Great product. It's just so worth the price. Keep up the good work and the great playing!
It's different. Preamp Live is to simulate amplifiers and cabinets, while GE200 is multi effects pedal. Thus chorus, flange, etc are on GE200, but not on Preamp. So, in the way they complement each other. Edit: My mistake, I didn't realize that GE200 has amp simulations. It's up to you whether you want to sacrifice the multi effects and expression pedal with a preamp that can capture amp tones.

I did not like it. I recently acquired one and found the models to be very dark sounding. Ran it through my FRFR powered monitor and also tried running it through the return of my tube amp with the same results, very dark and muffled sounding. Did not feel the amp models in it sounded true to their real life equivalent. Maybe it's best use is for direct recording? Anyway, I'm selling mine. Not crazy about MOOER stuff anyway, their support is terrible.

A terrible product. It does sound good, but it is absolutely unreliable. After a week of buying it, it stopped working, luckily under warranty so I got it replaced. The new unit, after a year stopped working again. Unfortunately not under warranty anymore. I lost my money. I was able to record a couple of demos with it and that's all. Also, they stop developing the software. Don't buy it!
the tone capture is SICK! is there another way for tone capturing lets say via audio interface? or it captures exclusively directly from amps?
The Master Volume knob acts on both outputs or is that possible to adjust them separately?

How would this work for studio recording?
Can amp sims be downloaded and or shared?

Do you just hook this up to your amp like you do with any other peddle?
No, it sounds like crap going in like that. Best to hook it into the FX return of your amp., or DI to your interface with the cab sim on
Indeed lad! The word you're looking for is "pedal". A salesman would be more apt to "peddle".
Is that compatible with midi?
Yes.

The amp sim is better in the preamp live but it has no effects just boosters and noise gates
has it better amp sim than the gt-100/bosskatana???
4:01 That is one happy guitarist.
Is one expected to remember what the 12 programmed options are?

Mooer has come out of nowhere and becoming to be a silent competitor product now, so all you big name brands beware because mooer is on the move!!!

what?
Though I am not literate in that language, it seems to be an expression of frustration and a request that preamp pedals be test with a Strat.
I love how you make the preamp sound so freaken good but there is no effects in the pedal. So your really not hearing the real sound without effects.
