I fell in love with her at 16 and went to all her concerts. Touched, she let me come free, and spend time with her before she went on stage in Quebec City. We came back together on her tour bus from a small city north of there, and I sat with her. I was in heaven. Such a generous, kind soul, as beautiful in her soul and face as in her singing. It was one of the highlights of my very eventful life, pure joy. Thank you, Nana, I will always love you. You deserve the love the world has given you. 💚💙💛💚

Her voice and her way of singing, have a “ladylike” quality, an elegance, a frankness and purity which sets her apart from the raunchy, brazen quality of more showbiz personalities.

Growing up in France in the mid 60s and 70s, I was always aware of Nana Mouskouri’s songs but was not really interested in her as she was more my parents age and her voice was maybe too operatic for the YeYe era . This double documentary is a double slap in the face/wake up call. What an amazing career! Of course having lived in most European countries, I was aware that she was well known but not to this extent!!
Thanks so much for putting her where she belongs and shame on France for not being able to make such tribute to this legendary artist.❤

France had always celebrated Nana! Where were you not to know she was famous to THAT extent ? I'm french , born in 1972 and with parents yours and Nana's generation and I always knew she was worldwide known , including being as big a name in france as any, a real fixture of our tv shows. That's what I 've always hated in my generation ( and the previous one), that way of being totally closed to anything musically that wasn't aimed at teenagers, as if being an 80's teenager of the MTV generation, buying Michael Jackson's records or the cure's or Madonna's ( or Vanessa Paradis!) prevented one to appreciate a Nana Mouskouri or a Barbra Streisand. I've never bowed to any teenager my generation talking me down at school because I also loved those artists...I 've always hated that sort of musical racism in a generation that pretended to be "open". But having known the ye ye years in france and ignoring Nana was wildly famous later on?

@@ilovemovies725 pas la peine de porter de jugement de cette manière. On a tous grandi différemment.

@@G6JPGThe word *old* is just an idea/a concept.
Therefore,if you feel young then you're young. Some people at 80 feel young while some at 40 feel old.
What other people think isn't important. Only what you think is important.
Let's say nobody knew you had done something rotten yet you still feel rotten. It's not that you're a religious person and knows God knows but you feel rotten bcs YOU KNOW. As long as you know if you have a conscience you'll never be at peace.
The same thing can be said about age Lolz. Think young and you will feel so.

Tears came pouring from my eyes and, sobbing at such beauty, I blindly pulled off the road and was transported. That very day I hunted in all the shops until I found her Christmas CD. Every year since, at the start of Advent, that same CD plays over and over until Epiphany.

Typically humble Nana greatly understates the importance of artists who have a political conscience here @53:00. At the end of the day most politicians are pitiful sheep. The trouble is they follow the wolves, the donor class, not the demos, not the people. She is just as effective working outside the EU parliament as inside, as is Belafonte in America and the Caribbean.

With all respect, friends you have to know that Nana's way to the top, would have been very, very difficult without the amazing accompanying by the Athenians.
Try and listen to the voices, the instruments, the arrangements behind Nana's wonderful voice.
    Those guys are fantastic.
Find them in u tube as trio Cantsone.
Kostas Troupsios 1st voice bass or guitar, George Petsilas 2nd voice guitar or bouzouki, Filippos Papatheodorou 3voice requinto, guitar, bouzouki.
Drumer Spiros Livieratos, joined the group later.

Well, she did marry George, and they have a very nice son and daughter.
But I think she would have been the superstar she was (is, but she has, sensibly, retired, unlike another I also admire) even without them: her early and later career was without them. But yes, they certainly helped, especially through roughly the BBC years.
