Being half Greek 🇬🇷myself, Nana’s music has played an integral part in my childhood. Absolutely love her. No scandals, no nastiness. An absolute star.

Nana’s way with the songs she sings is intoxicating. She won’t let you quit. I don’t care which language she is singing at the time. I have been listening to her for sometime, three to four years I guess. I can’t hear just one, nor two, or even three. I just have to have another. It’s a wonderful addiction. But, I’ve learned that I need moderation, so I check myself before I take the first sip and otherwise keep away except for a once a month indulgence. One sip and I have to keep going until something pulls me away or I drop off to sleep.
I first heard Nana Mouskouri sing in the mid-eighties - maybe late 80s, and I believe that the song I first heard from her was called EVEN NOW. I was so moved by the quality of her voice and the depth of feeling she brought to her music that I have been a fan ever since then. I have seen her perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and I own so many of her albums that I've lost count. When she retired in 2008 I cried. It's been nearly 35 years now, and she is still my all time favorite singer. She still brings joy into my life whenever I hear her sing. Thank you Nana. You showed me how music really is an international language.
I had the great privilege of going to see Nana, last night, here in Amsterdam, at DeLaMar Theatre. 84 years young, & still going strong. Absolutely phenomenal! This was a night I will treasure for a long time.

Grateful to have seen her perform live the last 5 years twice . Her music was always in our home . My mom be doing house work and records of Nana be on . I now years later collect more Nana’s records to add to those I got from my mom on her passing in 2001 . And so grateful that she too saw Nana live bout a year before her passing .

I understand the point she was trying to make about the expectation of the entertainment industry of a woman looking a certain way. But it broke my heart of her description of being a “big girl” and arguing isn’t it better to be able to sing than being “ good looking” . You would have thought she was morbidly obese, and a troll. There was nothing wrong with her! They never did like glasses, and she was very near sighted-but contact lenses took a while before they became available and had their own issues for the wearers. Pressure even then. We didn’t do that with male performers. Over the years some look like they have rolled out of bed to get up on stage! But it was about their ability. And I’ve always looked at that with performers. Wonderful performers we’ve had, especially early performers that were recorded. Thank goodness they didn’t have to fit a certain expectation!

Belafonte's problem with her glasses is so out-of-date. If he really cared about her voice (and not disrespecting her) the glasses would not have been any kind of problem. She's beautiful either way.
