love this song and the movie, one of my favorites, I'm bisexual, I'll never forget the story, I was 6 years old when Brandon Teena was murdered, it made national news, even being so young and not knowing who he was or why he was killed and not knowing anything about death in general, it still felt like losing a friend, even back then, btw, yes I know Brandon was biologically a woman but he was also transgender and identified as male, so I call him Brandon as he would've liked to have been called in life :')
+Joe Velazquez She made a film about the murder of a trans man almost 20 years ago now, that movie was a big deal, it tackled a subject no major studio would go near. It wasn't a big money earner. I remember Chloe Sevigny saying she did her own make up and brought her own lunch to set.
+Max Hall I respect Chloe. She's one to take risks and seems to be a very organic sort of actress. She created such a real character for this film and others. I know they took a great deal of artistic license with this film, but I think it did succeed in bringing focus to the very real life of a transgender man.

Watched this for the second time in my life. I watched it as a 13 year old and remember how much it wrecked me and stayed with me. I watched it last night as a 31 year old and remembered how much it stayed with me and how heartbreaking Brandon's story is. I hope wherever he is now, he's loved for who he is. I've been rewatching Big Love recently and I can't but keep seeing Nikki as Lana. Chloe is such an amazingly talented actress. I absolutely love Nina's version of this song. This movie was brilliant from casting to cinemetography to soundtrack.
Back in 2005 I used to cry to this song everytime I remembered Teena being murdered in front of Lana's very eyes and her laid down beside Teena Brandon's dead body😢 and in the next morning she'd find her/him letter in the jacket's pocket.
