She grew up in the Maillardville of Coquitlam Bc and we have a street named after her here....I just loved her voice, what memories I have of her singing, especially The French Song....RIP dear lady ♥
During the 50's and 60's I would spend nearly the entire summer at my grandparent's place in Ogdensburg, NY the Franco-American Club was just down the street and on summer nights the doors and windows would be wide open and the whole street would be treated to a concert of Cajun and Quebecois style music. During the day we'd listen to the local radio station and stations from Prescott, Brockville & Kingston. But I don't remember ever hearing Lucille until recently here. So thank for posting this! It is a real treat!
Lucille, I am 56 , (1955) and was so excited to hear your songs again. My daughter listened it with me and she enjoyed it just as much. Thankyou for entertaining us with your beautiful voice over the years throughout the globe. Rhona Bornman South Africa.
Lucille voice is a voice we will never forget the French song put her name and voice never again will we hear another Lucille starr and nobody will sing the french song like Lucille sings it ❤
Lucille, I am 58, (born 6 Aug, 1950). Rest assured, my grandkids already have heard your voice. You sing their past, but, your words sing, and know their future. Their future, as you sing, is full of hope. Most surely. (your voice speaks my heart) Regards, Stuart Gafath, Sydney, Australia
I first saw this gorgeous Lady in Calgary, Alberta in the early 1960's at the Calgary Home Show. I think I was 14 or 15 and standing next to the stage. She bent down and kissed me on the cheek. Did not wash that cheek for weeks,And still love to hear her beautiful voice.
my mother sang this to me when she was little and now that she's gone i sing it to my daughters. thank you for posting it. it brings back memories of her. thanks so much.
Somehow I inherited my aunt's copy of "The French Song" and I loved it even before my high school French classes. I shared the 45 with my French teacher and she was delighted. So much so that we had to sing the song almost every day, which wasn't a problem for me, I had already memorized it. My classmates weren't as delighted...Lucille's voice was great...our French teacher's voice left a bit to be desired. Merci, Lucille for good memories. (The teacher got the record, lol.)
My grandparents brought her records home from Canada in the 60's! Never heard of her before that, but loved her even as a little girl, hehe. Still wonderful!!
Only heard of this beautiful singer this year 2022, but I can’t stop listening to her songs, especially the French song, I guess because of my French heritage, such a beautiful lady ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎼🎶🎼🎶🎼
Wow, that's your Aunt? I remember comming home from school around spring time and i could hear Lucille playing on Vinyl. Than i knew enough. My mom was cleaning the whole house! I hated it! And I could never understand why she liked Lucille Star so much. But she passed away in 1993 and i was jus 13 years old. Now i am 38 and really love Lucille's songs. It brings so much great memories, that i took for granted back then. So please, thank your aunt for the lovely memories which i will cherish for life. And she NEVER EVER lost the stenght in her voice!
If you are from Calahoo Sharon, and Lucille was our mom's second cousin, I believe Lucille's mom was sister to my gr grandmother Dallas Goulet, yes, Robert Goulet is in there as well!, we are most definitely related, unless of course she is your aunt thru marriage! That's wild!! The comments are just as important as the content! Lol
I first heard Lucille Star singing, I think the title is, "Just Out For Fun" on a jukebox in Dawson City in the Yukon (Canada) when I was 17 in 1964. Since then I have loved her & believe her voice to be one of the best I have ever, ever heard. Then she seemed to drop off the planet. I tried to find her - & now, here she is. I am so happy she is alive, obviously well & doing what she was born to do - sing!
I saw Lucille Starr live in Ottawa many years ago!! I grew up with my Mom singing the French Song to us as well as Jolie Jacqueline. Thanks so much for posting this! I rated 5 stars and favorited it and subscribed!! =)
"The French Song" brings back sweet memmories of my first true love. "Now, when the sun says good day to the mountain, and the night says Hello to the dawn. I'm alone with my dreams on the hill top. And I can still hear his voice though he's gone. I hear from my door a love song through the wind. It brings back sweet memmories of you...."
Lucille is from Canada. I remember her singing on the radio when I was a little girl. The French song. She came to Russell Manitoba to do a concert and this is how she looked then. She was very popular in Canada and the she and her husband moved down to the USA. She still lives in the USA. I always loved her music. She has such song vocals. great singer.
I can remember this song in my teens. loved it then, love it now. did not know that Lucille yodelled though - UNBELIEVABLE voice. I am going to try for a CD
It IS originally a French song, she sung it in French most of the time. But translated in English for y'all who don't understood French :D Love the French version the best, bon juste :D
"Requiescat In Pace".

Voilà And if you don't get a word of what I just wrote, well then learn french...
First songs I could sing, Colinda and the French song. 'Cause of mum, 63-64 years ago. Mum taught me way before elementary school.... I still play them myself. Hey, three year old kid pushing 4 but still 3. legends, both Lucille Starr and my mum. I am Dutch, my mum understood Canadian French because of the war. Then again, couple of years later, she inadvertently introduced me to Jimi... Little wing.
