I've been playin country music for 30 years an this is the first time i've ever seen this woman. What an incredible talent she is. I guess she was to much of a threat to the established nashville stars of the day.
Only discovered this beautiful lady a few months ago.... all i can say she is awesome... what a voice!!! Way up there with the likes of patsy, tammy and lorretta in my oppinion x
Loving this - all of it, the band, the instruments, the performance especially as a kid that grew up in the 90's & 2000's listening to hip hop, rap then gangsta which I still loovve BTW. Appreciating my parents sounds right about now! Now this is gangsta! 4 real!
Born Lucille Savoie in the French speaking quarter of St. Boniface in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Starr was raised in Maillardville, a small francophone mill town that is now part of suburban Vancouver, British Columbia. She had a massive hit - "Quand le Soleil dit Bonjour..." aka: 'The French Song' in the early 60s and never looked back, giving the world her signature voice which was so very much born to sing country music.
i was the bartender in the thunderbird room when her and bob where playing there -a real CLASS LADY-a customer spilt a bloody mary in her lap just as she was about to go on stage=she just ask me for a bar cloth and got on stage to sing for about an hour=CLASSY LADY FOR SURE=MEL
In my opinion this is the best version I've ever heard. No disrespect to all the many other talented artists how have recorded this song but she simply topped them all in my book!
Well now I know about Lucille. Thats a very good thing . I was just looking for Storms Never Last and my hands were faster than my thoughts and up came Lucille!!
She does remind me of the old country singers in style and sound...not to much a fan of the rapid vibrato. But, she has a great band and stays on pitch and performs well. Storms Never Last was a hit of a friend of mine from way back, Dottsy! Her manager..the late Happy Shahan of The Alamo Village in Brackettville, Tx., was also my boss and friend. She was his big star as well as Johnny Rodriquez. I was only 15 when I started working at Alamo Villiage, I was and am a singer. Keep on singing!
Im pretty sure that she has preformed years ago in Merrimack NH at the Lone Star Ranch,. That was quite the place back in the 50s 60s and 70s ,. All the older country singers played there,. This music beats any of today's country,. NH.
Lucille is just one of many examples why American country fans are missing the boat if they ignore Canadian singers. I fortuantely grew up on the U.S. shores of Lake Erie and could listen to Canadian radio from Toronto, Hamilton , Windsor and even Sudbury. So I was listening to Buck Owens and George Jones right along with Orval Prophet, Tommy Hunter, Tom Connors, Don Messer and Wilf Carter and I consider myself much the richer for it.
