  • "Yoyo", our 2012 - Toyota Yaris, arrived @ 157.500 km milestone.
During the winter, we start to hear some noises when use the brake pedal (as the ABS started to go on work), and on the dashboard, some lights came on ... So, for me, became a kind of an odyssey because I had to find out what was the problem and the parts ...
A friend helped me with his tester and find out Yaris has a broken ABS Wheel Sensor ...
I went to dealer, showed them the error code, and they didn't had it... so, I bought the sensor from rockauto.com ... (www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.... ) and I decided to replace it. Please note that all symptoms described on the rockauto.com site, appeared on our Yaris ...
But unfortunately instead to buy an ABS Sensor, I bought just the CONNECTOR of the ABS Sensor !!! And I make a full video about "replacing an ABS Sensor" ... but I installed only the connector !
So, after I installed a simple cable, I found the ABS Sensor & I was NOT able to remove it from the Hub Bearing !
I decided to buy the whole Bearing Hub Assembly which has the ABS Sensor pressed on it !!!
This operation it is much easier that I expected, but more costly !!! The ABS Sensor cost me 45 $ CAN and the Hub Bearing Assembly, ABS Sensor included, was 131 $ CAN !!!
Here you can see how I proceed. Doing this operation @home, can save about 100 $ from your pocket ...
    Thank you for watching !
Good roads to have, i wish you !
    God bless you !
    Enjoy !

Sometimes you can pound those hubs off. But most of the time you can't. Knock out 2 lugs opposite of one another. Get 1/2 inch by 3 inch 8 grade bolts and nuts. x2 and put the bolts through the lug nut holes and on the other side of the hub attach the nuts. Tighten the bolts leaving the nuts against the hub until they bottom out against the backing plate. Make sure to get between the bolt holes. As you tighten them down in equal turns. It will finally push the hub out. Believe me when I say. It is the best way if your in the rust belt. Great Video. You left getting it out. Which is the hardest part sometimes. You did a wonderful job teaching how.

      Hi ! 🙏🏻 for coment & ideas !
I still have the original hub and maybe some time I’ll try to do as you suggested !
As I’m not an English born person I don’t understand the meaning of the expression “You left getting it out”…
The point is my car still has errors on the dashboard … they appear about 5 months after the replacement of the hub and cable. I saw a friend who had a tester and now he found different codes…
The car is working fine but the ABS it’s out of order… unfortunately.
Thanks again and best wishes to you !

@@mipmixchannel Sorry, I meant you did not show getting the hub assembly out of the axle. In the north they rust.

Nice video.. I have two new wheel hubs for my 2017 yaris, but the plastic ABS connector doesn't fit to petrol , only to hybrid yaris.
Do you think it's practical to cut down the plastic head and glue the old one with epoxy or something? Since the rest of the hub is exactly the same.

hi, i can't tell you big deal ... if you can send me some pictures on my fb messenger ...
what I would do ... i will try to go at a parts store and try to change the hubs for hybrid with those you really need ... or sell them on market place or other platform and buy the good ones ...
you can do another tric: cut the wires, on boths (old and new) and connect them color by color ... and you take off the plugs you need and "adapt" to your new prius C hubs ... it's a bit risky but it COULD work ...
thank you for comment, succes and a happy new year !

Maybe you should torque the hub retaining bolts to spec....would be the shits to loose a wheel right?

    • @mipmixchannel
      @mipmixchannel  5 месяцев назад

they have to be very well tightened !
if you don't use anti seize paste, you can torque them at the specs; if you add some paste, is better to torque them a little more, let say a 10% value ...
on those screws is 1/4 of full weight of that car, so it's a safety concern ...
thank you for comment ! good roads to have, i wish you !

      Hi!
From a local parts shopping centre
They told me it’s a good quality
I put it on only few months ago… I don’t know if it’s a good deal or a bad one…
