0:37 No, literally nobody thinks motorcycling is expensive, Josh. It's kind of common sense, no? Smaller vehicle, less material used, therefore much cheaper than a car.
I really don't know how you come up with this stuff.
And how many people do you talk to who are just getting into bikes? I talk to literally thousands and SO many of them, the vast majority, think it’s too expensive for them. So that’s what I’m basing my opinion off, the facts of what people think and tell me when I talk to them. What are you basing yours off of?
“Literally nobody” nah man. I don’t know where you got that from.
Sorry but this pissed me off, it’s this attitude, the whole “well it’s common sense” attitude that keeps a lot of people out of motorcycles. The amount of thank you’s I’ve received over the years from people who had no idea how affordable it could be and finally bought a bike after watching these kinds of vids number in the thousands.
You don’t know how I come up with this? How the hell do you think I do? From experiencing it. Jeez.
@@shadetreesurgeon Yikes, chill out, man.
I, too, base my statement off experience, of course. I've, again, literally never met a person who thought it'd be very expensive to get into motorcycles. Again, they're basically toys, there are entry level and older ones, so of course there must be cheaper ones.
But then I am, as you might remember, in Europe and don't know a whole lot of people without college degrees, so maybe I just deal with people who are better informed.
@@TheUrbanEpicure don’t meet a lot of people without college degrees? Your passive aggressiveness is rather boorish. If I’m being honest you never come here unless it’s too leave a clumsily veiled insult that you think you’ve disguised as advice. You’re not half as clever as you think my friend.
It would be foolish for you to think you’ve met even a fraction of the people I have. Weather they are interested in motorcycles or not. Next time you’d like to leave an insult dont bother dressing it up, because your fashion sense is atrocious.
Sell the O G DAD JEANS BIKE, the Ducati and get your purple rain!!!

I think he likes the Duc adv bike, he should get rid of his old Harley, the Strawberry Goldwing and put down a decent deposit on the Purple Rain.

Josh just needs to get it over with an collect every generation of Gold Wing. And rent an entire warehouse to store them 🤣
I wish man lol
I heard motorcycles are like pokémon you got to collect them all
Get the Purple Barney Gold Wing, it fits your personality. lol
Gotta say, my 79 Wing is a beast.. now if I only had the extra resources to truly make it a Cafe racer I'd be a happy man.
As someone who has worked in the juvenile justice/child welfare field for almost 30 years, I can tell you that Forgotten Angels is filling a void that is direly missing for kids aging out of the foster care system. Your efforts to help raise money for them is nothing short of amazing. Kudos to you. Screw the haters.
Totally worth collecting all the Goldwings. Infinity Stone collection in the making.

Right on. If you're new to riding, I'd definitely recommend not getting an expensive bike. You don't need to be stressing over a few scratches or a dent in the tank. If you drop it, pick it up and ride on. No tears. Get the bike with a payment after you've made your mistakes.
Yeah, you are probably going to drop it doing something stupid a noob would do. Take your lumps on a used bike and buy a nicer bike later on. First time you forget the kickstand or stall at the stop light will be memorable.
I have a 2004 Honda VTX 1300C. It's my first bike and I've owned it for about a year and a half. Mine has the short fenders and the straighter handlebars. Bought it for $3000 with about 17K miles. I absolutely love it!
Just started watching this and was reminded just how much I have missed the cheap bikes at the dealerships videos. Good to have it back. Thanks and 73, Mike
these are some of the best. i miss the earlier bar hopping vids as well, ya know ummmm anyway..
I love that Bert's doesn't just dump non-Harleys to the auction. I need to take the feejer down there and look around :)
Missed these ride impressions. I think this is the content I like the most of your channel.
That VTX is a dream. And yes, those run forever.
LOVE the VTXs! I bought a VTX1300C last year, added a VTX 1800F this past summer
@@danpetreikis The VTX 1800 is amazing, not many here in my country. But one thing I noticed every time, is that it was FAST. And had this lovely low rumble when accelerating. Enjoy you rides, sir.

I had a 2005 VTX, and I loved it! It was a very faithful soldier for a long time. I sold it this summer and picked up a Fatboy (it was my 50th birthday present to myself). Best. Midlife. Crisis. Ever!
32:00 is so true. I joined the bike community this week after just sitting in the house for months on end doing nothing but feeding my depression. This has been the greatest release. If you’re contemplating getting one, just do it!!
I wish Harley dealerships in Scotland had such good deals on the go
So do i but i have a couple of spare bikes would you like to hang out sometime

@@Doug_Morgan Thank you brother. Well wishes to you and yours.
What part of Canada if you don't mind me asking? I hope to travel there on two wheels once my sons get older.
Josh, I’ve been riding here in England since 1975. If I’ve learned anything in all those motorcycles, all those friends and all those good times; its this:-
There are so many motorcycles,
And so little time.
👊
My old bike was a 78 goldwing. I bought it for 700 bucks. It never had anything done ever. Not even a oil change. I put a extension cord from the battery to the fan. Flushed my fluids 3 times. Then drove it from detroit to Georgia through the smokey mountains. Came home, changed fluids again. Rode it to cali and back. I rode it four season's, 45000 mi. i kept the bike after i got another. Got a parts bike for it. Was waiting for someone who would ride the bike. My friend put it back on the road this yr. Put almost 6000 miles on it. I bought a 03 fatboy. It drives me nuts cleaning chrome before every ride! I find myself missing my goldwing. Never cleaned it. Plugs and oil. Never a problem with it. Going to grab a 1500 or 1800 cause you can always find cheap. Plus they are a Cadillac. Ps, whats wrong with having a few different kinds? I have a 81 rm 250. 2000 xr650l 03 fatboy. 350 4x4 honda quad. Ton of mopeds. Cause they have been fun to ride with my kids and newbies! Treat yourself, get the 1800 bro!! Lol
I bought a blurple 02 gold wing a couple months ago for 6000. I just love it and so does the wife! Good price on that one there.
Hellll yeah
I owned a 2005 VTX 1300S that I gave to a friend who still rides it today. He can not believe how well that thing performs and is basically a solid piece of machinery.
I don't live in the U.S. anymore but Bert is one of the coolest people I've learned about in the last two years. have purchased a ticket to support Forgotten Angels and would buy from Bert's if i'm ever back in country again. 🙏 Good Thoughts !
Best bike I ever owned was a 182 1100 goldwing.. $2500 and rode it for years... and sold it for $2500
Sell that "pasta rocket" and you can have purple rain, AND fix/finish tje vomet comet!🤔
The answer is no not every Harley dealer is the same or even close. When I went down and visited Saint Pete’s I stopped by Burt’s on your suggestion before I came to the Dirty shame. I was in shock how friendly everyone was and willing to talk with me even though I wasn’t going to buy a bike. In my part of New York you walk in a Harley dealer and there are three of them near my location. People don’t even pick their head up to say hello to you when you walk in the door you can browse all of their goods and maybe just maybe someone might say can I help you. So you’re lucky to have dealers like Berts in your area.
When I bought my softail after I signed the paperwork I was handed a key and salesman said good luck and walked away.
I’m flying to Tampa the end of next week and you can bet I’m going to stop by Burt’s and pick up some shirts and some poker chips and get some food next-door
Josh should definitely buy 1 of every Goldwing. Then call himself Commander of the Golden Fleet.
The motorcycle industry should sponsor you your a brilliant advert for em
I've never questioned what someone rides, do you. there are so many good bikes out there 👊
I started watching your channel and chey's while doing youtube research on the PC800 a couple weeks ago. I live 10 minutes from the dealership and as soon as I saw your review on the $500 bike I called them to see if it was still available....
long story short the guy on the phone didn't know which bike I was talking about so hopefully it's there in the morning.
LOVE your content, keep it up!!!
Did you end up getting it?
@@zauh after dealer fees it would have been way too much
@@nstelte24 So, just like all dealerships, they advertise the $500.00 price just to get you to come in, then let you have it with both barrels. Just curious, what would that $500.00 motorcycle have actually cost you?
Hey Shadetree you are good for the Motorcycle lifestyle just letting everyone know it doesnt matter what you ride thanks for the video
I paid less than £5000 for my 2018 Street 750 with 2100 miles and change and couldn't be happier.
I love these cheap bike videos cause it is so true. My Vulcan cost me 2k and with a little work I polished the terd and it looks great and I love riding it. There is no excuse. Hey man in the live stream I asked you who won the bike so early because I had to go to work. No worries and thanks for another great video.
A lot of the time you see these older bikes so cheap because there aren't parts available for them anymore. If something breaks it may bot be fixable without buying another bike for parts. For $500... ride til it shits the bed and sell it for scrap.
Always looking forward to every Wednesday and Sunday for a new shadetree vid!
Used bikes are the way to go in my opinion. You can easily pick up a low-milages $12,000 bike for $7,000 two or three years after the first guy bought it new from the dealership. A 2010 or 11 will be less than half the original sticker price. I've found there's a lot of middle-age guys that will decide they want a motorcycle and buy something brand new....then a couple years later they realize they don't really like riding and they sell it for way less than what they paid.
i am local and after i got back sunday from the forgotten angels camp , a friend called me offering a 1996 vn 1500 for ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ! it runs! . picking it up friday. it even looks clean and has custom seats and exhaust.

More Bert's cheap test rides! Love them.
I had a 2004 VTX 1300 for 14 years Great bike, the speedo problem is probably the green connector under the right side of the tank. I sold mine earlier this year for 3k.
My dad at one point had a 1200, a 1500 and an 1800. My mom called it his Flock but he recently sold the 1200. By the way thanks for the love of my home state of West Virginia. I’d be awesome to catch a glimpse of the Ol’ Swamp Wizard riding around up here.
Very cool. Saving me some dough. Thank you. I’m too shy to ask for the cheapest bike, but you are building up my confidence.
I love when Chey does the flybyes
Both of my local dealers usually just take them to auction. I never understood it. Harley's they will keep and sell but metrics they auction off.
Mike transmitting here! 😃 00:39 Motorcycling is not affordable outside the US, i guess. In Europe, for example, none of those high-Hp/CC-bikes would cost so little even if they were sold 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th hand. For instance, the cheapest new Harley/Indian motorcycle in Portugal and other countries, new, is around 15k euros. In 2nd hand is not much cheaper, it's like gold. Even the european brands of motorcycles are expensive as hell.
in Europe, if you buy a motorcycle like those, is the same has buying a car but with the perks of getting rained on, getting freezed to death while riding, or falling on the road while turning thanks to acumulated sand debris.
That's why the motorcycling culture nowadays is not that big around here, like it used to be in the previous century: people can afford a good car with the money they would spend buying a motorcycle. Even a 2nd hand one.
Comparatively and proportionally, 2nd hand cars end up being way cheaper than motorcycles.
A BigHug from the old continent for you, Josh!!!✌️😉
chey on that F700. man she could fit so many spilled coffees in those saddlebags.
Love seeing Chey enjoy the Bolt. Absolutely loved mine. Only did me wrong when I tried to stretch out on some miles with the stock seat or got a little over zealous in the twisties and started scraping pegs earlier than I wanted to. Had to sell it last year. Since then I've gotten and am in love with my Raider. But I do miss the smaller Bolt. It was a blast to ride.
Nice VL1500 for $500 I just sold one a few months ago for $3000 canadian with 6x the mileage. That's a good size bike for a steal of a price.
Hi Josh i totally agree with you. i have 2 bikes and i live for the weekends to get out on them. i was a bit shocked about the insurance in Florida. here in the UK it is law that you have to have insurance. i can't wait to be allowed to go to the US again.
Every time that shadetreesurgeon says 500 $ bike drink a tequila dead in 2 mins🤣🤣
Would be hard pressed to find prices like this at any HD dealer for the same bikes in SoCal. But I love you doing this. I think with patients and some research definitely some great buys out there. The newer gold wing looks like a stealth bomber of the future. Love it. That's Triumph it tempting.
I absolutely love the sound that 6cyl Goldwings make on a pull. That whine is simply amazing
Josh I absolutely love ur channel. I laugh at every video. Even my wife enjoys ur videos as well. I Got really lucky 3 years ago and purchased a 01 yellow weirdo 1800 GL with 170K for $2700. And it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. Thx for ur excellent content and thx for ur outstanding work with the Forgotten Angels 👼. Keep it Weird as well Brother. Be well
So hard to believe they are selling a $5,000 Wing for $500 but good for you, I’m jealous!
"Metric bike"!!! Bee M Double You - thank you!
I would grab that $500 bike (£1.50p GBP). Nice find Shadetree.
Burts HD rules! Great showcase Josh!!! Looks like a fun day! Want a Goldwing too, thanks to you, despite having 5 bikes already (down to 5 lol)
Love these cheapest bikes at the dealership vids.
Just think about how many miles you could lay down with that 1800 in one shot! Too easy? Hmmmm, Country getting smaller!
I've known two people with the Honda VTX and yes, they run for miles and miles with precise reliability. I own a 2007 Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe with the 1300cc V4 and they are the same story as well, runs for miles and miles with all day reliability. I bought her used for 4500.00 in immaculate shape two years ago with 32k miles, I have 56k on it now and enjoy it immensely. She's a keeper, my comfortable touring bike. I can't wait for winter to be over so I can go on trips with it again. Now I want to find a good used reliable 2nd bike for local rides for around town and to work. The bike market is different from the auto market, you can get some great bikes for great prices with low miles on them, and there are plenty out there. You don't have to overpay for some fashionable name, and you'll get just as much enjoyment and go everywhere the others go plus not save doing it.
Man oh man, I wish I could find a dealer near me as cool as Bert's. No such luck yet.
The first Shade Tree video I ever watched was one just like this. That was 3 years ago. Been a long ride with ya, Bro. And have enjoyed every video I've watched. Thanks for doin what you do...
Speaking of deals I’m all pissed off because the 131 conversion costs the same amount as what I paid for the 116 conversion on my Indian!
Indian parts are more expensive than the MOCO parts
@@talkingrock7011 bikes in general. Atleast in my countrey. Be prepared to pay 5k more than a softail if you want a similair setup bike.

Pretty sure that Mustang seat on that managers special is worth 500 bucks!
That LC1500 Suzuki is a Rock Solid bike 👍😀
Wish we had a place like Bert’s around here. All the local Harley dealers treat you like you’re garbage if you’re not already on a Harley or buying a Harley.
Great video Josh! I love that you take out these bikes and spread the message about affordability. That $500 Suzuki is an awesome deal! Cheers man! Hope to meet you guys some day.
I’m a Harley fan from 6 years old. But I have a special place in my heart for the gold wings. My dad had an 89 and I used to ride the hell out of that bike. More comfort than my 77 CB750! I test rode a 21 Goldwing tour… greatest touring bike out currently!
If you named it you have to, buy it. I think that’s a rule of the Chanel right ??? Once named they have to stick around…. Long live Purple Rain !!!
Great Vid. I wish everyone had the same attitude of encouraging people to get on two wheels. Doesn't matter what you ride as long as you're riding. I also agree just gotta randomly go places or look online and you'll find good deals. I just randomly went on a former Victory now Indian dealers website that is two hours away and that's how I found the deal on my 2012 Victory Cross Country Tour which was a dream bike of mine.
Shadetree Surgeon, Your also pretty passionate about Pickles you can buy anyplace that sells them. Agreed about buying a Motorcycle. In Facebook Marketplace I saw a two tone grey GoldWing for sale for $2,000, I believe it was a second generation GoldWing. I called but it was sold already.
@14:10 thats what she said hahhahaha ….. we know you can get a better deal on that GW treat yourself!!
The tach prollem is prolly a bad ground
I sold at a HD dealer in mid CA. The sales mangler referred to everything other than an HD, as a "turd". He was an idiot, but did have the beard and T-Shirt! He was so cool....
We took a Yamaha Road Star(?) 1700 as a trade. It was spotless and ran perfectly. It went to auction with other "turds". The sad thing was it ran smoother and stopped better than anything we had on the sales floor.
Add that you will *never* know your interest rate (800 Beacon Scores often got taken for 8%!!!) and many Harley dealers have perfected the perfect con. Misdirection is rampant, but well done.
So many great bikes out there that get ignored as they apparently do not have the "cool factor".
I love that you support the run of the mill bikes too! Thanks.
And once again all I can say is that I admire these price tags. In Germany the VL1500 would easily cost 5k. So ... buy it. 😅
I hear ya with the old GoldWings!! I bought my '89 in 2000 with 4,000 miles on it....for $7K and it paid for itself long ago. I've had it repainted but the only major thing I've had to do, in 165,000 miles, is a u-joint!! I've gone through multiple fork seals, brake pads, tires and batteries, but that's just routine maintenance with those miles. Don't let that 1500 go!!!
From a giant dwarf to THE swamp wizard himself! Thanks for always showing how accessible riding is! Keep on doing what you do you dirty swamp wizard!!
More people on bikes sounds like a good thing to me
Josh you could sell ice to an eskimo!! Love it!! Your passion for motorcycles is infectious!! Keep doing what you do!
Wow that is some serious cash you guys raised! Kudos to you all!
Thanks for sharing these videos. It's good to see you showing cheap metric bikes. The Frankenstein Chopper you rode to the BArbour museum was terrific too. Any motorcycle is fun to ride. I had as much fun riding a junkyard street-illegal 75 cc Honda on mountain logging roads during summer break when I was 14 as I had riding a new sport bike. Even a moped is fun, but you might not want your friends to see you riding it.
Dude, get the goldwing! It's so you. You've also been bit hard by the long run bug so it makes sense.
Currently riding a Moto Guzzi V85 TT ADV bike. I love it. But, I have owned both the 1800 VTX and a 1300 VTX. If I wanted a cruiser bike I would definitely pick up one of those again. The VTX is an awesome model family.
What gets expensive in the motorcycle world is accessories that are almost a one off due to not as much desire for that particular part.
You'r a good man Josh and, yes, more of us builds a great future. Thank you!!!
The bolt does seam like a great bike
If Bert's treats you the same whether you're spending $1,500.00 or $15,000.00 it must be good. Most dealerships I go to won't even talk to you. It's almost as if they expect you to feel privileged that they even acknowledged your presence.

The price on the goldwing is average for the mileage. But buy the $500 dollar one then sell it for 2k then put that 1500 toward one of the other 2. Even the VTX could make a grand on it
Those goldwings are fast though. And very durable and last forever I knew a guy that had one hit a deer twice and drove it thru a tree that fell it had well over a 100k on it sold it to another guy that guy passed away and now has it back and still riding strong. He can take that goldwing pull a heavy trailer and hard to keep up with he will ride behind you taking pictures and you can’t outrun him.
