- When she was young, she was often compared to Princess Diana, referring to their similarities. But if they were indeed similar in appearance, they both had different fates. Sophie found herself at court at an advanced age, at the time of her engagement to Elizabeth II's youngest son Edward, she was 34. She managed to get the unofficial title of "the Queen's favourite daughter-in-law". Elizabeth spent a fair amount of time with her youngest son's family. No disagreements with Sophie ever surfaced with the monarch or other family members. The reason is one important quality for the Crown, it is the reserved character possessed by the Duchess. The Queen once remarked: "She won't stand out from the crowd". Indeed, the reserved Sophie in comparison with the other two daughters-in-law of Elizabeth, Diana and Sarah seemed ideal. After all, both girls were characterised by a wayward character, were the cause of scandals and eventually divorced from the monarch's sons, Princes Charles and Andrew.

There has never been even a rumor to suggest that Andrew mistreated Sarah. She still loves him, lives with him at Windsor and supports him totally. No one other than those in the Diana Cult and Diana herself have ever said that Charles mistreated Diana. SHE was the one who was cheating, lying and telling different versions of her story at different times!

Well, Andrew & Sarah seemed pretty happy together, & despite being divorced, they are still close to this day.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh had a long engagement so they had time to develop that relationship and nurtured it. The 3 ladies had very different personalities so no comparison.

If DIANA had been raised and groomed differently (and waited), she would no doubt had been able to find a husband who loved and cherished Her, and Only Her. (Or had the strength and support to leave, if he did not.)

Charles himself stated (I recommend you look for the interview and watch it) that he returned to Camilla in 1986 when their marriage was "irretrievably broken" And you don't know more than Diana herself and she admitted that Charles had resumed his relationship with Camilla in '86 (that is, 5 years after the marriage) admitted on TV in front of everyone that she was the one who was unfaithful in the first place. (in the same way I recommend you watch the interview) Diana never stopped having lovers, after Mannakee she continued a long list of men, and almost all of them married. She wouldn't have minded sleeping with your husband if she liked it. Charles didn't have to tolerate her infidelities!

Sophie was lucky to find her soulmaate in a loving husband. Neither Diana nor Sara was that lucky with the two narcissistic and self-centered sons of the Queen. Expecting them to become the grey mouse not to outshine these mediocre "princes" was too much to ask.

Sophie knew how to be a Royal. Dim-witted Diana and the toe-suckee never fit in!
Diana was sure that she would marry Prince Andrew when she grew up. Her family took to calling her Dutch because they were also sure she would marry Andrew and become a Duchess. Once Diana realized that she could actually catch Charles, the chase was on and facilitated by her family.
Diana feigned interest in Charles’ interests and hobbies (Balmoral, fishing hunting, etc.)-basically, she pretended to be who Camilla is, a hunting, shooting, fishing, reading country girl. Then as soon as they were on their honeymoon (most of which was at Balmoral), Diana declared each of his interests as borrrring. When the honeymoon moved on to Balmoral she would have have fits of screaming and crying when he wouldn’t do what she wanted when she wanted him to do it (the court was at Balmoral for the summer so there was official business going on and many witnesses). After the honeymoon she proceeded to, one by one, separate him from his friends (he would give in to avoid conflict with her), then his staff (who would quit because she would not look at or speak to those she wanted to leave).
In her mind, she loved him, but then attempted to change everything about him, and if he wanted any kind of peace, he would comply. Diana and her family, particularly the Spencers, were very ambitious and misrepresented who she was to the RF, particularly regarding her emotional health & stability. The Spencer’s actually had a bit of a reputation for unstable men (Diana’s mom cited abuse in the divorce), but the RF didn’t think the mental issues affected the Spencer women. Diana actually refused to cooperate with mental health professionals provided by the RF when they realized how unstable she was, and wouldn’t accept mental health help for years (yes, the RF tried to get her professional help) until a friend threatened to out her bulimia to the press because she was afraid it would kill her.
And that is just how she treated Charles. As a grown woman she held hostility towards her mother for leaving her abusive father (her mother took Diana & her brother with her but lost custody), pushed her 60 year old stepmother down the stairs (long after Diana married btw), threw her stepmother’s things out the window in trash bags after her father died, fired one staff for claiming expenses with the palace for some trips with Diana (completely legitimate expenses), and fired another who was the currier delivering tapes to Andrew Morten for her for accepting reimbursement from the publishing company.
The virginal “Shy Di” persona was completely a creation of a press. A bit like the common impression that the Queen Mother “sweet ol’granny.”
Diana admitted to straying first from the marital bed, with her affair that began in 1985 with her protection officer, Barry Mannakee.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, is a great help to the Monarchy and a favorite of Queen Elizabeth II. I admire Sophie. God bless her and her family.

Years ago, not long after they married, I was in the crowd when Edward and Sophie had to dig holes to plant a tree and after Sophie dug her hole she was jokingly dragging her shovel behind her like it was heavy and pretended to wipe her brow while looking at us in the crowd with a cheeky grin. She was so playful and down to earth and I've liked her ever since.

Saw Sophie in person just before she got engaged to Edward. She seemed very shy and reserved and yes she looked very similar to Diana even in her mannerisms.
Sophie also didn't have the pressure of being the princess of Wales. If Diana had married Edward, she would probably be alive.

In real life Diana and Charles would probably never had married and Fergie and Andrew would have lived happily ever after!
