I think the fact that many times you can hear him inhale, and that a dimple appears on his throat when singing high notes, indicates that he indeed is singing live.

@@TheCharismaticVoice He used to get accused all the time of lip-syncing, because they would say nobody is that good. and that's why he started shaking the microphone, would probably be pretty hard to sync a microphone Shake :-)

@@TheCharismaticVoice It's likely he does sometimes lip-sync but many of the performances he's known for are almost certainly live. The Singer performances, for example, as it's a top-tier professional singing show, or most of his own concert performances, are live. His Bastau version of Daybreak includes him starting a line of the chorus accidentally, before even starting the song, and quickly moving the mic down; it's super hard to notice because of how professionally he handled it but if you pay attention it's almost surely a mistake- which basically proves that performance is live.

About lip syncing I can tell you that sound engineers who reviewed many of Dimash's videos say he is not lip syncing, if he were, it would have been noticable immediately because of the way sound is produced technically and the way Dimash sings. It is just impossible to pre-record anything and then lip sync it the way he sings. There's even a video of him performing live without microphone and you can't tell the difference, his voice is THAT good. You can pin this for everybody who still thinks he is lip syncing.

Dimash once said that he wanted to sing songs that were ‘educational’ - this is certainly one! We all know that Dimash unites us all from around the world and breaks down barriers - when I first saw this (although no one has ever commented about it) I noticed Christian images as his backdrop, a Jewish pianist/composer and an Islamic young man singing about trusting and holding onto the good in our hearts to reach our ultimate destination. That is education at its best in my opinion. 💕💕🇬🇧

About that final sung phrase, where there was a noticeable delay before his voice sound started... when I first heard this song, I, too, thought it was a little stumble, a miscalculation, not quite enough chord closure at quite the right time.
I've had to change my mind. It was deliberate. I listened to a later performance of this same song, different theater, and he did it *exactly* the same way. *Exactly.*
We ought not to be surprised; we had two clues. 1) Dimash has otherworldly control over his voice. We *knew* that. If he wants his chords to close, they'll close - exactly when and how he chooses. 2) The way he's leaning forward, searching for eye contact, singing softly, he's obviously aiming for intimacy. He's not trying to convince us with his authority in that passage, but with his vulnerability. It makes sense in the context of the song.
The 'passion' he's singing about is not the passion of love or sex. It's the Passion of Christ - torture and ecstasy, all mixed up. But Krutoy and the lyricist - I've forgotten her name - have taken *us* and placed *us* on the cross. The song isn't about religion, after all - though religion inspired it. It's about *our* torments, *our* ecstasies. Life is sweet pain - that's right there in the lyrics. Dimash is telling us it's all worth it. If you think about the provenance of the song, it all falls into place. Krutoy is a Jew. Dimash is a Muslim, if he's anything. The lyricist is something or other, but by this point it hardly matters. The inspiration for the song comes from Dante, a Christian satirist. This is an enormous hodgepodge of source materials and artists feeding into the creative process. And it's not a song of praise for a religious event or character. It's a song for *us* and about *us.* All of us, from every religion or nonreligion you care to name.
A lesser artist might have ended the song with all of the authority a great opera singer can muster (and in Dimash's case, that's a lot!). He would tell us we *must* take this view, no argument! But Krutoy and Dimash are operating on a higher artistic plane. And the final argument Dimash presents is sung low, softly, invitingly. The argument isn't forced; it's gently persuasive.
That intentional delay in the final phrase is a signal. Dimash is human after all, not inhuman. He is with us, not above us. And the song's message is for him, too.
But he's *calculatedly* human. He could sing it any way he chooses; he chose that way. My theory is he's from a galaxy far, far away! But he's not lizard people. Those are politicians. :P
That fast upward staccato run in the second section sung by Dimash... have you ever heard anything like it? So precise, so quick... mind blown. Again.

I've followed dimash for quite some time now and I'm not going to argue if this is live singing , from dimash it is, the choir maybe pre recorded . I've watched this and many other performances over and over and I can comment all day about his vocals which are stunning, but just yesterday I watched a 55 minute video of him singing acapelo and one thing always stuns me ( apart from his amazing vocals) is how he turns from this sweet bright eyed 6"3 cutie into this 6"3 force of nature .... I know his own parents have said they barely recognise him when he's on stage but it's always amazing to me..... he turns from sweet boy next door into James bond..... stunning singer, stunning entertainer and wonderful person xxx

A bit late to the party but dimash can't either, his style tends towards operatic but isn't operatic, for that you need a lot of volume and projection, his closest thing to actual opera is his mid/high range, but when he gets low he needs a mic or it would be really low volume and by definition that cannot be opera, you need to be heard in an entire theatre without mic

Kid in white takes stage. Closes eyes. Takes possession of the world.
Krutoy and the lyricist (Lilia Vinogradova, the Russian poet and songwriter who also wrote the words for Ogni Pietra) seem to be creating for Dimash a spiritual journey of sorts. The backdrop for much of the performance is an illumination by Bartolomeo Di Fruosino done for Book 1 (The
    Inferno) of Dante's Divine Comedy.
Oh, I read that the (lip-syncing) woman is saying “Croce e delizia, passione tua” which is “pain/suffering and delight, your passion."

    • @shrekswife2164
      @shrekswife2164 4 года назад +16

The staging of this performance reflects the struggle between good and evil hence the black & white theme with the kid representing the innocence of mankind and the purity of the soul in the midst of that struggle. Dimash in black and white reflects the duality of human nature in possessing the will to do good or bad. Passione is a collaborative masterpiece and Dimash's vocal expertise brings its classic origins to life. It is definitely a valuable lesson for those who expend so much time/energy stalking Dimash reaction videos to post discrediting remarks bc it shows that their real struggle has nothing to do with Dimash, but is rooted in their psyche and is more to do with their own passion and will to cause pain and suffering for others. The dual nature of man depicted in Dimash's attire gives 2 options of human will - the path of the soul (higher nature reflected in the kid) to embrace and nurture what is good, or the path of the animal (lower nature) and post remarks that reflect that nature.

If so....show me any other singer who can captivate, connect and move an audience so profoundly.. Thank you for your wonderful presentation and insight.

I watched another reaction to DIMASH ,LARA FABIAN N AIDA ( SORRY CAN'T SPELL HER LAST NAME) and people commented it was lip synced because it was a very complicated performance... you can check out a few behind the scenes recordings, rehearsals etc.. ( ruxanda translations are brilliant) n it still sounds pristine.. I think we have gotten so used to STARS ( I'll use that word loosly) lip syncing becsuse they don't have the talent, thst when we see true talent we doubt it.. Dimash is a prodigy I've no doubt.. I'm running out of things to say but this performance from Dimash was 100% live... I remember watching a fan cam of him n one guy in the background just summed it up ... he ssid OH FUCKING Hell... 😂😂

It is inspired by The Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri, you can see it in the Back drop of the stage Bartolomeo Di Fruosino's Inferno. Be sure to read the translations as it feels like that it is not complete until one can understand the words to see what he is trying to conveying singing this song! WOW!! Krutoy and Dimash are introducing historical ART and philosophy to a whole audience that most have never been in contact with it! I can only bow before such courage and audacity!

Dimash never lips synch when doing a show. you can tell from his throat muscles his facial expressions, the way his dimples appear. he is pure perfection, no one else may or can duplicate him. he has so far 22 years of training. Who else can and say the same most of the very best Opera male singers can't even compare to his years of training. his family was beside him from when he was just a little boy of 4 years old. from 5 years old they made sure he was look after properly. he is still working on getting his Doctorate in music. again who may say they have his abilities to do so???

Glad you addressed the lipsync issue. Dimash is great at replicating a performance to nearly the exact same aswell! I thought Dimash lipsynced the first time I heard him. I have had many moments of doubt along my listening journey but then I see other versions of his performances and find differences that I can't hear until I analyse them and then it's obvious. If he has ever lipsynced, I am 100% sure, it was not by his desired choice.

I have seen people say that some of the performances for Russian TV force performers to lip-sync, but I definitely believe that if he's allowed to he would always prefer to sing live. And his capabilities have been proven, so we still know he's able to do the things he does from performances that are undoubtedly live.

    • @DIQUTE844

Dimash is great and he sings live a lot, better than in the studio. That's one issue. On Russian TV and certain shows they often use prerecord - that's another issue entirely that Dimash has no control over. It doesn't mean he is not the best vocalist on the planet. These things are completely unrelated to each other.

I see this reaction of yours again, Elizabeth, I had not commented on it before. I felt the same as you in this phenomenal performance. He's definitely not lip-syncing. The entire delivery of the song was flawless and so magnificent. Especially in the rising melisma that weird one that makes it look like very fast stacatos: Wow !! And the change from soprano to tenor at the end similar to what he does at Olimpico, only he can handle that. "Dimash is God's favorite musical instrument", I mentioned it when I first saw the video for the song Across Enless Dimensions. There is nothing more to say, but one always wants to express what we feel when we listen to any Dimash's performance, although there is no where to get more words. Always receive the love of those who follow you and found you thanks to Dimash.

7:25 - 7:45 in a space of 20 sec he did 2 amazing things. The first was obvious:
    1) Dropping from that super high head voice right down to low chest voice, flawlessly.
    2) as he climbed higher into the notes, he flawlessly switched from his chest voice to his mix. I had to replay that bit a few times to catch where he switched it..
N a bonus third, he peaked at some pretty high mix notes there, before significantly reducing the energy to mere whisper.
This lad,, is truly mad. A hardworking, talented genius. And thank elizabeth, as always for ur commentary. I can now understand better as to why to dimash’s music is just so amazing to hear.

I didn't want to say it because some people can be oh you only like him because he's good looking... that's not true but let's be honest here dears he looks like a prince.... it's funny I watch background videos of him rehearsing or just fooling around and he looks like s good looking sweet boy next door then he gets on stage and its like OMG.. again this is not my primary reason for loving him but no harm saying hey you one fine looking man

Dimash loves to sing live and prefers that. Also, he can be seen and heard on countless videos from 30 seconds to compilations singing live spntaneously no effects, no mic, in the airport, when he was a pre-teen. Numerous everyday, organic natural environments. There are a very small group because of their jealousy are determined to misunderstand what Dimash is. But they are just attesting to how amazing he is, "It must be Memorex! He can't be THAT good". Well, yes he is! Occasionally, he will use a track from a harmony to a certain instrument to his voice for practical reasons out of his control. Peace!

Love your analysis of Dimash songs. The whole lip sync thing is really interesting. There's a huge mixed perspective even among many of his fans on which performances are or aren't sync'd. Things like your analysis makes me think most performance are probably truly live (at least for his vocals). Also all you have to do is watch countless videos of him either off mic or especially in his rehearsal or warm ups when he looks bored (waiting for others or just waiting in general) and does random riffs or singing and effortlessly hits insane precision and even nodes that sounds super processed and too precise but clearly where he couldn't be lip syncing. I think when he's not doing a marathon performance he genuinely just is that good combined with really good audio mixing and audio engineers just makes it look so good. I've looked at a ton of fan cam videos too and honestly usually those look even more legitimate with a bit less of the cleaner slightly processed and sync'd official videos. Then there are performances where he waves his mic or moves it out and back in a way that is clear it's live and some of those are some of his best moments. I also think people both underestimate the state of live audio mixing and effects like reverb he often runs which smooths out some of the imperfections that are probably there (just so small with him usually) and especially big cuts like this where they are sync'ing cleaner audio with multiple cameras. I mean no matter how good your engineers are there will be tiny sync mistakes that I think appear in a couple of the videos.
With that said the sinful passion rehearsal sounding nearly identical (different audio quality of recording so hard to say absolutely exact) might suggest some exceptions (some people say certain venues might require it which sounds like a legitimate scenario but I have no expertise to offer here), but if he's lip syncing a lot of these he has to be the best lip syncer on the planet on top of possibly the best vocalist based on his pure live performances too.

For me, it is strange; you can absolutely adore and respect a singer, and not specifically be a big fan of the song itself. "Passione" is not my favorite of his by a long shot, but I still am astounded by how he sings it, the things he does. I think I would like it more without a few of the theatrics, if that makes sense.

Im late to this one, but I think the thing with Dimash and lipsyncing is that even when he does, and sometimes, like all singers, he does, its just a playback of another live performance. The crucial thing is that its not manipulated, not autotuned and he really can actually do it.
So many singers release tracks that they just cant sing, Dimsh doesnt do that. People say he syncs because its not possible to sing a song that way. Ive seen that with Sinful Passions, but we know he can do it.

A little extra to add that I don't think you commented on? The background and the front skirt of the stage change color from the bright reds and yellows to a calmer blue as he hits the peak of his high notes--the hellfire falls away and down, and you get the angel floating up instead of all of the agonized images in the beginning. The staging of this piece is so much a part of the whole production. Love it and love your reaction.
