I am a Chinese, my American husband introduced me your channel. Dimash is one of two my favorite singers, the other one is Hua chenyu, and his martian funs call him as Huahua (flower). I would really appreciate it if you would react to huahua's song. Here is one call Child. It is a covered song. It shows his vocal skill. He is a composer and has lots of great songs.😊

The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that
accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer
who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this
performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he
added, with an oriental Arab technique (or traditional cazaq singing, called Joqtaw), is a funeral lament, paying homage to the
dead vocalist: Brilliant! The song was originally performed in 1998 and the
band's name is A'Studio. The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away
in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia
Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebyev, who is the keyboardist with long hair,
which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

I think your insight about his not singing in styles is accurate and thank you for mentioning it.
I am not a singer but it seems to me that any mention of a "style" that someone tries to use to define him is merely always going to fall well short of the full measure of what he is doing.
Rather than the word style I think perhaps the word different techniques might be less constrictive.
Obviously, he had been trained in opera techniques, pop techniques et cetera but he has so much unbelievable control, range, versatility and intelligence he can in an instant combine them in ways likely only someone as exceptional as he can and in doing so creates a brand new "style".

What drives my obsession with this channel is the attention you give to some of these artists' character. The way you analyze his eye contact and posture at the end of the performance and relate it to his courtesy toward the band... As much as I would give anything to get your insight into music, I would give even more listen to you talk empathy and philosophy. You seem to just immediately assume the best in everyone in a world where so many people want to imagine the worst. We need more of this!

Maybe they borrowed somethings from the Arabian culture because they share the same religion and the Quraan is in Arabic , but anyway that type music and singing was Arabian for a long long time before other Islamic countries borrowed from it .

Thank you for your knowledgeable and delightful review of Dimash. And thank you for explaining what happened at the end. I always wondered if he had intended to continue singing, but didn't when the Dears began laying flowers on the stage. But I knew that Dimash is used to people thinking he has stopped and he had never stopped him from finishing. So now, I finally know. Also, when I watch this, I always notice how Igor glances around at the people next to him as if he's thinking, "Why aren't you on your feet?"

What a fabulous review. There aren't many RUclips reviewers that know what to look for and explain to us the listeners what kind of technic the singer has to make with his vocal cords, lungs, diaphragm, etc. But you do. It is not easy to deliver these tones as good as he does. I often think about how easy it seems for him to perform these songs, but I know you know better, that this is a difficult task, and it's better to be in a good physical state. Thank you.

Awesome review! Thank you for your comments re. Dimash. The first time I saw Dimash perform I thought it was a joke because no one could have that range. I love seeing gifted singers for at least two reasons: (1) being gifted, they sing so well. Moreover (I have little musical knowledge), it is my opinion that one of the most beautiful sounds is the trained, gifted human singer. (2) Such talent reveals the glory of the Holy Trinity who made us. I lamented one time about having no little talent, and the person with whom I was conversing said, "It takes one to sing but just as important are those who listen." That helped!

Imagine the pressure Dimash had of having Mr. Krutoy in the audience. That's the first time most of us, < Dear>, got to see Igor. Soon after, He and Dimash gave us " The Love Of Tired Swans " ,"Mademoiselle Hyde", " Love is like a dream ", "Passione", "Know" and my favorite "Ogni Pietra" and the new masterpiece "Your Love"

Much credit should be given to Dimash's friend and frequent collaborator, Erlan Bekchurin who arranged the piece. Dimash and Erlan want to use every opportunity to present Kazakh culture to the world so in 2018 they started to incorporate ethnic elements in songs, where appropriate.

For the ethnic part, you see after the whistle tone, it's a traditional Kazakh funeral tone. It is a tribute to the original singer of this song that died. That's why the presentator did a pun at the end that he would have a heart attack. I'll suggest to you to do researches about the songs that Dimash does because they almost always have a lot of meaning. For this kind of stuff there is Gloria Wu's channel with the Singer prestation. Some songs need that explanation before the performance. For example, Daididau, Late Automn (or Automn Strong) and Daybreak, need explanations. Daididau and Daybreak have, for me, the best performance at the Bastau concert. I'll recommend to watch the first part of explanation than the performance in Bastau.

Dimash chooses his songs carefully per link (turn on English subtitles or your language) below which explains why he will have trouble in US market and already had a negative experience in 2019 when he caught US producers lying to him on World's Best competition and walked away after 3 performances from millions in endorsements when he was the prohibitive favorite rather than compromise his beliefs. He won't allow anyone to produce him who he doesn't trust totally which is why he is own producer. His concert version of Unforgettable Day at Gakku (he wrote the song as a teenager) is stunningly powerful and remininscent of the band Nightwish after ten songs still belting out as if it were a single performance. Gloria Wu intros add context to Daybreak and Unforgettable Day. Maybe do the Gloria Wu intro and then play the live concert version but the fact he took a needle injection in his throat the day before competition due to no voice makes that Singer version dramatic. Maybe this link will understand how serious he feels his commitment is to his maintaining congruency with his spiritual values. ruclips.net/video/L6BeRLs907s/видео.html

I love this comment so much. Thank you for this information, John! Only working with right producer is incredibly important for a singer's sound. It's amazing how different a producer can make a performance, and people often walking away thinking that it was the singer's doing - not the producer. Dimash is smart to only use those he trusts.

@@JessicaCEP I watched Dimash's performance that night and since they didn't follow up on the reason that he left was, I dug deeper. Deep enough to learn that in his culture, older people cannot compete with younger people. So, at the end, he and his female translator came to the microphone and he explained that he was stepping out of the competition. He did not go into any detail and this seriously annoyed the three main judges. The three 'judges' were Drew Barrymore, Faith Hill, and someone by the name of RuPaul. While the entire room had been standing, that person started booing and hissing loudly from his middle seat of the judges. I really wish that everyone in the world should be forced to watch this person's wrath because believe me, if they did, they would quickly want to change the channel. It was, IMO, one of the most embarrassing things I have ever witnessed. None of them understood his reasoning but as paid celebrities, they should NOT have been allowed to do that. Dimash may not have understood all the words spewing from this person's mouth but he sure knew that the person screaming at him was unhappy. There is more to the story (Dimash's people had checked with the producers of this 'competition' and they had told him there were no children in the contest). Now I can find a little bit of an issue with that because Dimash sang three songs and didn't say anything until it was over for him. But really, anyone who joins a competition can quit at anytime without being verbally whipped by anyone. These judges were paid to judge his singing, not his moral integrity. RuPaul ought not to be allowed to ever be a judge of anything, never mind someone who is considered by many, many people to be the best male vocalist on the planet. Just my two cents...
