This video gave me a lot to imagine:
What if Malaysia had not rejected Singapore?
Surely LKY would do all he can to work his way up, given how ambitious he was, and if he eventually paved his way to becoming PM of Malaysia, would the latter be a lot better than now?
LKY was a ferociously intelligent man. Who knows what he could do to snatch political rights away from UMNO’s very own hands, and dominate Malaysia? And if he did so, would Malaysia be a lot stronger than she is right now?
There are too many questions that cannot be answered, and history is as it is, nothing can be done to change it. But perhaps part of me wants to see another possible turnout of this event, where Singapore had not separated from Malaysia in an alternate universe, and they both exist together as one formidable country in harmony. How’d wonderful that would have sounded, if history didn’t pan out this way.
Note: I’m fully aware that Singapore merging with Malaysia might not actually be a good idea, given the racial disagreements and riots at that time, but I’m willing to hold on to the impossible future where Singapore and Malaysia are one, in the suburbs of my dreams.

May I say as a Malaysian Chinese, Singapore is a really heart warming story. Thus most of my childhood i spent in Malaysia I also enjoyed that country. Anyway Malaysian Government has a very complicated structure embodied till this very day and despite how the citizens try to unify and identify this to countries as family, the history haunts us. This goes for anyone who had faced rejection, keep working hard. Keep achieving and don't regret being an outcast. I live in Australia at the moment so uncovering the Malaysian/Singaporean history is like tracing an ugly genealogy. Glad that Singapore is what it is today and some of my friends living there are enjoying their lives because of this news. Lee Kuan Yew was more than a Prime Minister, he truly is an honest and caring individual with a vision.

But people walk slower in Malaysia, more free time to do own things, more tiime in the coffee shops etc. Also we have more time to indulge in our hobbies, Suicide rate is also very low. Singapore today is synonymous with success, first-world, innovators, inventiveness, trail blazers, pioneers, setting the bar, trouble-shooters, never-say-die, ruggedness, indomitable, incorruptible, efficiency, excellence, visionary and far-sightedness. And 'Yes' they are hard-working too.

The world today sorely misses Lee Kuan Yew so much. He's such a wonderful example of genuine leadership where he is capable of showing emotion without either being paid to do so or without acting. As a Filipino I find it sad that my own people do not look up to this man. Rodrigo Duterte the current President of the Philippines as I have observed, his leadership is somewhat patterned with Mr. Lee's or has some sort of similarity. I have mad respect for Mr. Lee and yes, Singapore is a beautiful and well-managed country because I did live there for at least 4 years when I was a kid. Needless to say, the cleanliness, discipline and kindness of Singapore is unbounded.

In 1967, I was 6 years old and I know what Singapore was like then because my mother brought me around from geylang serai, chinatown, serangoon road, bukit timah beauty world. Also, Madara (PM of Malaysia) does not want anything to do with Hashimara (LKY) as both have different ideologies, left the village similar to how the pm of Malaysia said he decided to part due to different ideologies. Without Madara (PM of Malaysia), Hashimara (LKY) continue to built up the village (Singapore) into a better place than it was.

And I heard that Dubai (UAE) tried to model itself on the lines of Singapore. Indeed they have many similarities in terms of glittering skylines. But that's it. Dubai is a castle built on sands. It has no substance. Just a facade. A little wind and it will be blown away. You need much more than the tallest buildings in the world, the only palm shaped islands and the most expensive hotels to become a true Singapore. Try as they might, but the city of sand won't last.

I don't see Malaysia's leaders saying "no" to their usual corrupt cut of national revenue. I also don't see how Malaysia could do without the cleaned treated water that Singapore sells back for consumption.. you will be able to flush the toilet but not sure about Malaysians drinking from the toilet bowl. Finally it's a legal contract. Breach could invoke military action and somehow I don't think Najib's broken submarine would be much of a deterrent. So there is definitely an opportunity to insult Singapore, but that would invite self-infliction to Malaysia. Nothwithstanding the fact that Singapore Malaysia has never been to war, I am unsure if Malaysia wants to see itself inevitably humiliated in a military conflict over water.
