I wanted to mention here that it's so great that you went 'back' to school, even at a point where your career is pretty awesome. I know the struggle, I'm 26 now and in my classes everyone is like under 20 and I always feel stressed and thinking 'gosh, they're so much further than me and even younger' but NO, I'm doing this for MYSELF! VS time has come and gone. It's business is suffering, and I believe it's because it doesn't connect to the millennials it sells to. It's "not cool" anymore to be so try hard (i.e. push-up bras) and everyone conforming to one mold. For VS to say that they only hire "healthy, strong" models is such a bunch of BS that does a disservice to young girls. All the models who have done VS clearly state that the prep is crazy and all they do is workout and watch what they eat. It's not "healthy", realistic or aspirational to have to workout 3 hours a day everyday on a low calorie diet to maintain your body. Your self worth should be more than what you look like. Staying healthy is great but VS is promoting a type that requires it to be an obsession. So -- good for you for putting your health first and being a positive role model for young girls. I have worked in fashion on the other side (casting and creative director) and I can 100% say that modeling is a job that can break you if you aren't grounded and have support outside of it. It shouldn't be this way and it needs to change. When I requested a size 27 (jean) model, three of the top agencies literally had nobody to send me. Instead, they kept sending me size 25 models and occasionally underage girls (which I explicitly said I'm not casting) or "plus-size" models. There was nobody in between. Although the growth of plus-size is a positive direction towards inclusivity, it is still an industry that celebrates the extremes. People can still be aspirational beyond simply their size. Women need to demand more and better, especially for younger, impressionable girls.

I've even shared your hairdo video link to a friend saying, "OMG this is shocking how pretty she is." But after watching this Q&A, I realized that everyone will have some sort of insecurities and everyone tries hard at life and making good out of it, no matter what we look like or what kind of job we have. VS still very much cast the thinnest girls. I see more ethnicities on their runway, but they do absolutely nothing when it comes to promoting body diversity, self worth or feminism for that matter. As a company, they can rot tbh. If they go bankrupt, it's their own fault. Good on for you accepting that VS is not the be all end all for a succesful career.

I just want to say that the moment I saw your face in one of my mom's magazines back when I was at the awkward age of 14 (I think it was your Giorgio Armani ad), I've always thought you were literally the most beautiful person I'd every seen. For the longest time, I just painted a picture in my head that you were just this perfect, can't possibly be insecure about anything, kind of person. And to be honest, when I was at that age and I literally had your picture in my closet, I was always wishing I looked like you instead of myself. It's so important to never stop learning and you are such a great role model! I know the struggle, I'm 26 now and in my classes everyone is like under 20 and I always feel stressed and thinking 'gosh, they're so much further than me and even younger' but NO, I'm doing this for MYSELF! VS time has come and gone. It's business is suffering, and I believe it's because it doesn't connect to the millennials it sells to. It's "not cool" anymore to be so try hard (i.e. push-up bras) and everyone conforming to one mold. For VS to say that they only hire "healthy, strong" models is such a bunch of BS that does a disservice to young girls. All the models who have done VS clearly state that the prep is crazy and all they do is workout and watch what they eat. It's not "healthy", realistic or aspirational to have to workout 3 hours a day everyday on a low calorie diet to maintain your body. Your self worth should be more than what you look like. Staying healthy is great but VS is promoting a type that requires it to be an obsession. So -- good for you for putting your health first and being a positive role model for young girls. I have worked in fashion on the other side (casting and creative director) and I can 100% say that modeling is a job that can break you if you aren't grounded and have support outside of it. It shouldn't be this way and it needs to change. When I requested a size 27 (jean) model, three of the top agencies literally had nobody to send me. Instead, they kept sending me size 25 models and occasionally underage girls (which I explicitly said I'm not casting) or "plus-size" models. There was nobody in between. Although the growth of plus-size is a positive direction towards inclusivity, it is still an industry that celebrates the extremes. People can still be aspirational beyond simply their size. Women need to demand more and better, especially for younger, impressionable girls.

Hi, Emily. This is only a 3rd video of you that I'm watching, so I can't say too much. But at first, I was just so shocked about your physical beauty. I've even shared your hairdo video link to a friend saying, "OMG this is shocking how pretty she is."
But after watching this Q&A, I realized that everyone will have some sort of insecurities and everyone tries hard at life and making good out of it, no matter what we look like or what kind of job we have.
A lot of times I would get jealous and beat myself up for not being as successful, beautiful, fun, and active as much as I want to be. So I ended up stop using social media. Right now, I'm happier to just connect people who love my dorkiness. And I get to work on my insecurities, to be better at it, one at a time :)

VS still very much cast the thinnest girls. I see more ethnicities on their runway, but they do absolutely nothing when it comes to promoting body diversity, self worth or feminism for that matter. As a company, they can rot tbh. If they go bankrupt, it's their own fault. Good on for you accepting that VS is not the be all end all for a succesful career.

Sara sampaio looks kinda Adriana then Elsa hosk kinda Candice... they are trying to make a new "team" but I don't see variety plus, 90% of them are ig models or they are recognized by that platform. That's how business is nowadays... I hope it change to something better. So we can feel a little more related to them.

literally 80% of their models are severely underweight, there is a difference between 'healthy skinny' and 'underweight' it's disgusting.
But if you think about it why should they have variety? maybe that’s their esthetic and that’s their look! If they want to cast all Caucasian models that’s their right!

I just want to say that the moment I saw your face in one of my mom's magazines back when I was at the awkward age of 14 (I think it was your Giorgio Armani ad), I've always thought you were literally the most beautiful person I'd every seen. For the longest time, I just painted a picture in my head that you were just this perfect, can't possibly be insecure about anything, kind of person. And to be honest, when I was at that age and I literally had your picture in my closet, I was always wishing I looked like you instead of myself. And now that you've given yourself a platform to express yourself not just as a model but really as who you really are and what your thoughts are, I appreciate you so much more now. I teared up when you started talking about your insecurities and it brought me back to the times when I was insecure about not looking like you.
