Capirossi who was the teammate of Stoner and one of the best riders overall could not ride it at all. The following years Gibernau, an excellent rider, failed to ride this bike, he had very bad results, even Valentino himself failed miserably to ride this bike. Only Stoner could master that beast. Stoner was amazing and had he not being ill he might have suprassed Valentino or Marquez. Yous should respect a true champion.

I remember coming across Moto GP because there was nothing going on other channels. My first ever live moto gp race turned out to be this one. I fell in love with the red ducati and I always remembered the name even if I didn't follow it later on (I was 11) CASEY STONER from Australia. I didn't even know how great Rossi was and that their rivalry was legendary.
This is the truth. Stoner tamed it when there were far less electronic rider aids, in case any haters are gonna chime in with some old bullshit about who’s doing what on a Duc now. Yes, all current Ducati pilots are ridiculously talented, but Stoner was Marquez before Marquez was Marquez. (If that helps anyone younger understand it!) 👍🏽
Who also impressed me is Lorenzo. He really struggled for long time on it, but at the end he absolutely mastered it. They made a massive mistake when they finished the contract, otherwise they would get the title next season. And same exact situation repeated with him at Honda. I never used to like him before but he absolutely earned my respect then ! But Casey still is the one for me.

Couple things to look at behind this fight. John Hopkins in 4th, and some Frenchman called Randy de Puniet in 5th on the Kawasaki. Hopkins was a fair force in his prime, I miss him.

you blink for 1 second you hear "Rossi up the inside" , you could see the Yamaha suffered against the Ducati in the straights, but was able to compensate in the corners and also thanks to Rossi's very late braking, I remember the fantastic four of the motogp (Rossi,Stoner,Lorenzo and Pedrosa), it was a strong era so many battles between them, and we were the winners we had so much fun

Incredible how Rossi managed to take the fight to Stoner on this track so many times, despite not only having an underperforming Yamaha with a slower engine, but also with worse tyres (Bridgestone clearly was the better compound for 2007 and onwards, Rossi still used Michelin in 2007). The way he outbreaks and switches lines to set himself up in the next corner is absolutely fantastic. Speaks volumes about his skill and class. Nobody came close to challenge Rossi outright on his prime. Casey Stoner on his Ducati was a legend that'd always worth remembering. He held onto his stages like a true champion, he is to MotoGP is what Rafael Nadal to Tennis. Rossi may well be the invincible Roger Federer charm, but you can't back the champion until the last point is scored. masterful on a Ducati.

Honda is very difficult Bike to ride so is Ducati. I think he will fare well on Ducati than Yamaha
Casey Stoner on a Ducati, hard to think of any better match, I could watch him drift that thing around corners all day long, especially on Phillip island. Nobody has been able to wring the neck of the red monsters like him sine he left the sport.
