I am totally sucked in already and had to resist just watching 4 more without recording haha! As others have mentioned, the show was filmed almost entirely in Hawaii. They have some pretty cool Lost tours if you ever make it there. I was able to visit the beach that they showed in this episode plus a whole bunch of filming locations that I won't mention. :) Looking forward to many more Lost reactions.

@@robtrinreact2825 I did nearly the same thing. I watched a random episode from season 6 which was a lot worse even. For reasons I can't explain because spoilers but not only did I have no idea WTF was going on but I had an incorrect understanding of the show because of certain weirdness with season 6. Which was all fine I don't mind being a bit confused.
That’s super cool. I’m lucky enough to live in Florida, only a few hours away from where Walking dead films (they have the WALKING Dead Tour and they literally have a whole town where the show is filmed, and you can go to that town and meet actors when they go to coffee shops on their break. Also, you can walk over to Alexandria, which while it was made for the show, is actually a real neighborhood where people can really live), and stranger things, and all these awesome shows filmed in Georgia. Also got to see the Hunger Games filming locations in NC.

Never be afraid to throw out a theory just because you think it's too crazy. I can guarantee that no matter what you say, as long as it's based on some thought and logic, that (a) most of us have heard, or had, way crazier theories about this show, and (b) some of the things on the show will be crazier than your theories.

I have also watched Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad and for me, those 2 and LOST are absolutely in my top 10 tv series of all time! and I think this pilot episode is top 3 of any I have seen. So well done! Enjoy the journey. I think this 1st season of LOST is the best single season of tv I have ever seen.

A little advice, before each video remind viewers to avoid any tiny spoilers in comments and find someone to be a moderator in your comment section because people are gonna spoil and with watching Lost for the first time you should avoid spoilers at any cost not to ruin your experience. You are going to have a great time! I re-watched lost may be 25 times already and like to follow RUclips Lost reactors.
Yeah I am all covered from spoilers, do not worry :) thank you for the tips tho, am already a fan of this show. It's totally grabbed me and i bought the entire series already so am totally set to go all the way to the end!
This show got me through high school and some really bad times, its such a good show and so immersive!
Lost is great. Without spoiling anything you can compare it to GoT. When you watch the first season you never imagine how crazy it gets later(like the Night King and his army, dragons, the battles, etc), you never expect the attachment to characters you will miss when you lose them and wtf moments. This show starts relax like GoT but then… enjoy
I am at my max hype for this show already haha, i will try to keep my expectations under control but i REALLY wanna just binge this show so bad :)
Far better last season of Lost than GOT, however lol

Lost’s final season and finale is so much better than GoT’s simply because Lost has satisfying character arcs that make sense whereas GoT sort of throws character development out the window in its final season and focuses more on spectacle and moving quickly through plot points. It is for this reason that I believe Lost is a far more rewarding show, especially on rewatch. You get extremely attached to the characters. They are so well written.
Fun fact: the top rank manager that approved filming Lost pilot episodes at this great level was fired for it! :( From the lost trivia: The Pilot was so expensive that the head of ABC was fired over it. The final approval for the production of Lost was given based on two main factors: the backing of Lloyd Braun and the initial outline for the show. Though promised to be a show filmed on a film studio lot, the show was instead shot on location in Hawaii. Also, the costs of production skyrocketed with special effects, custom sets, and other location costs. Overall, Lost became the most expensive pilot to shoot in ABC’s history, with final expenses coming in between $10-14 million. Understandably, executives found fault with Braun for approving such a costly project and subsequently fired him from his position. He lost his job before the show even debuted.

Wow, I never realized that a concept of meaningful numbers was introduced in Pilot of 1st Season - Jack tells Kate a story about that failing surgery and how he counted to control his stress and fear! Even though he counted to 5 (not to 4 or 8) I feel it is still an intro to numbers being mentioned this or that way in almost every episode.
Yeah I feel numbers keep cropping up (even if i miss them all the time). Great show and can tell the writers had a lot of fun with it :D

Nice to have a new Lost reactor! Welcome to the Lost family. Without giving any spoilers, I would recommend that you get a note pad and take notes. Lost is not the type of show where you can just turn your brain off. There's a lot of thinking needed and notes will certainly help.

Welcome to the LOST family. This show has changed my life. It was the first show I was fully invested. I have watched it at least 4 times all the way through. You are in for an amazing ride. Many questions, many anwers. You just have to keep watching.

I just found your channel because it was recommended to me for The Walking Dead. You actually have watched and are watching some of my favorite shows. When Lost aired, there was no other TV show like it. I watched from the first episode all the way to the end and it was quite a ride. Looking forward to experiencing this through your eyes. Not sure if you are into sci-fi but you should give Babylon 5 a try. There are very few reactors for that show and it's absolutely my favorite Sci-Fi show of all time. It is a 5-year story arc and the writing and acting is brilliant.

Yeah it continues to blow our minds daily lol, We honestly thought we would find it hard to get 4000 watch hours in a twelve month period but we are nearly at 10k in such a short time. Hard part is how to say thank you to everyone without it sounding like a typical youtube thank you. Fun fact: Jack was initially supposed to die in this episode.
And it Michael Keaton had agreed to play the role, until the ABC execs forced the writers to keep the character as a series regular.

The IMDB rating as of 5/23/2022 is 9.2, which places it #2 for this season and #6 out of the 119 rated episodes.
Pilot: Part 2 originally aired the same night.
The "there is something familiar about the sound" line from Rose and her saying she is from the Bronx was there because one of the producers, I believe, used the sound from a receipt printer from a supermarket in the Bronx for the sound effects of the monster. It was an easter egg. If you pay attention you can hear the printing noise.

~Trin, yeah I remember the major plots, and some things really stuck in my head even after 10 years. But yeah can't remember all the details, and when I watched it back in the days it was in french. It's a discovery for me to watch in english and it's just my secondrewatch after so many years :)

Watching this now I noticed that the episode has Greg Grunberg as the pilot. He was in J J Abrams's show Alias, too. And Dominic Monaghan was Merri in LOTR. Are those choices just random, or could they be clues to sth? So many clues everywhere. When the TV company started Lost they wanted a cross between Tom Hanks's Cast Away movie and Survivor TV show, big hits in the early noughties. Got a lot more, too.

TRIVIA:
The original ending of this episode was to see Jack { he would have been played by guest actor Michael Keating } die and take the place of the pilot in the tree and have Kate become the leader of our castaways aka Losties but the powers that be decided to keep Jack alive so they revamped the character of Jack and hired Matthew Fox for the role.
Shortly after filming the pilot the actors who play Kate { Evangeline Lilly } and Charlie { Dominic Monaghan } began dating in real life and they remained a couple for four seasons of the show.

Don't apologize for your language. Also, filming was Hawaii. This was the most expensive pilot I television history at $1,000,000. I don't know if that's been outspent, but it was the record.

Regardless of peoples opinions on lost, Lost really is the pillar that all new serialized shows stand on, it was the first of its kind really, there were other shows before lost but not of its quality. there might not have been a breaking bad or game off thrones without lost

BTW...I'm born & raised on Oahu (where this show was filmed for the most part). I recognize a lot of the places they show. We often saw the crew filming on location - trucks, trailers, lights, cameras, etc. True story: I was almost hit by a car driven by Josh Holloway (Sawyer) (I know you're deep enough into this show, that you know him already). It wasn't his fault. I was crossing a small side-street (they were filming right down the road at the time), reading a pamphlet, and not paying attention. I looked up to say sorry, and there he was, with his dimpled smile.
