“Necessity is the mother of Invention”-says smart guy that gets stuff done. Rory, you guys are truly one of a kind. Ive learned so much from your videos. Thank you!
The arrangement with the trailer wheels is typical of how Rory thinks, and pure genius. I have lost count of the number of times I have seen the trailer's front tyre collapse when scaling an obstacle and worrying it was flat. I have never dared mention it in the comments before though, because I have absolute faith that Rory knows what he is doing. I have also seen Rory do his end of video debrief to the camera, while one of the trailer wheels never stops spinning in the background. There must be a bunch of stored energy in those big wheels and tires.
Wow. Mike is actually a mechanic not just a camera guy. I'm kidding!! It's nice that you have a camera guy and an editing guy now so we can see more of your crew working their mad skills!
Is this something that Matt of MORR started? Matt seems to look at RUclips as a business model and invest in it accordingly. Before I retired, If I needed something like a new clutch fitted to my car, I would rather do a Saturday morning overtime at my own workplace, and pay a mechanic to change the clutch. I'd stay warm, and not get covered in dirty oil, and still have some change after paying the expert from my overtime pay.
@@TrevorDennis100 I think it's a pretty common business model to have workers in small companies that can do and have many different types of skills. You can hand almost anyone a GoPro and within a few days they're getting pretty good footage that can be edited into a channel. That's ahow most channel start out. As RUclips channels get bigger they tend to hire camera people and editors so their personal work load is less. Employees cost money, so that has to be a monetary decision to be made at the appropriate time. As far as the RUclips business model, once a channel hits a certain threshold of subscribers RUclips and Google will do everything it can to help you grow. More viewers means more ads sold. Google makes money and the RUclips channel makes money. If channel is one of the few RUclips channels that really takes off the monetary income is significant. Definitely not a unique business model, but a basic drive of a small business owner making it big. Matt @MORR has stated in episodes that his off-road recovering section of his business makes a very small amount of money compared to his tow truck wrecker company. However now that his RUclips channel has hit it big it's anyone's guess which makes more money his towing company or is RUclips channel. He now has an editing team of up to four people. When Matt first started out MORR it was just him and Ed and Matt's iPhone. It's a common growth model seen on many successful RUclips channels since their inception through to their success. I actually find it all quite interesting and I wish I was a successful RUclipsr! But no. I'm just a professional still photographer. Video scares me. 😆🙂 It seems like the business of working hard and being smart is the classic business model.

Am I really seeing a video a day recently? Well, that’s just fine, cause I never get tired of watching and seeing your knowledge and experience work, even tho the comment section sometimes thinks you are doing it all wrong. Keep the videos coming. :)
I know, lots of videos recently! Always a good thing when I see the notification pop up. Agreed. Those, "your doing it all wrong" comments get on my nerves on RUclips. Especially with fabrication. It reminds me of what an old supervisor of mine said to me when I was much younger, "There are at least five right ways to do something correctly, and there are thousands of ways to do something wrong. Then there's my way because I'm the boss."
Things make sense now. I always noticed the front axle was floating and thought it was bad geometry. Now I know it was intentional, and why. Having towed a lot of trailers (including a few I built), they tow nicer with the axle back, so riding on the back axle on the road is a good idea. Trailer lights are a challenge on a good day. Mine are in cages cuz I got tired of replacing them.
Rory! Mike and your new videographer/editor are awesome hires! Mike is such an upbeat guy who must be a pleasure to have with you...and a pretty doggone good welder. The videos have improved dramatically. Shawn is a great compliment with his native American influence and he's a very good rock crawler with his Jeep. You've got the key to success. That look like one BOMB-PROOF off-road trailer. Matches the truck perfectly! Wonder how much it weighs empty? Handy to have the boom winch to help hook it to the truck too :)
I bet it's at least 800 lbs. There's a lot of 1/4" steel on this thing.. It's probably closer to 1400 lbs. I re-decked a regular 16' utility trailer with that same "cat walk" style grate-- with the 1" strips on edge. It really is an upgrade over a wood deck. It's a lot lighter, and quite a bit stronger at the same time... Plus when we have dirty quads or lawn mowers on it--- all the mud falls through at the car wash. Good stuff... and the scarp yards are usually full of it where I live--- because of all the oil field works around here.
With all the recoveries you do, it is hard to imagine any piece of steel that has remained on your trailer since high school! Remarkable display of advanced engineering.

Rory -- you personally have improved and grown as the host of your channel since your early posts. Much more outgoing and less defensive. Your narration of what you are doing and why are now first class.
Talk about beafing up a trailor, good job men. Rori I think everything you have is a beast. Love the mater.
It's a Triton! There needs to be more than one like button on this video for that!

My husband and I look forward to all your videos. Have been a big fan. Told my husband tonight after seeing this video you are now my favorite of all the channels we watch.
The Hippo/Zippo joke did it for me!!!
I have worked at Zippo for 33 years. Made in the USA Bradford PA. We just celebrated our 90th anniversary a few weeks ago.
Keep the footage coming. We love our Jeep and Talon just wish we had more places to ride in our area.
