@@NightsAroundaTable I will never forget... you were my savior when my friend backed Trickerion! We played it twice in one day and had a blast :) no way it would have went so well without your video
This is by far the best rules video to FCM out there!! Thank you so much! You helped me and my group a lot and got that game to the table! Would you be interested in doing one for ‘Hegemony - Lead you class to victory’.? It’s sitting there on my shelf and It’s quite daunting to start from what I’ve heard.
I am so excited that you finally covered this complex behemoth. Please do Antiquity next and then eventually all Splotter and Lacerda titles. You are the best teacher for board games period.
I gotta say, the game didn't grab me at first, but this video makes me want to play it! The way the marketing, customers, roads, and food tokens all interacts seem neat.
Although it is a bit themey, i put it much closer to games like chess and Hive, because you really have to work through a spatial and timing puzzle, thinking through multiple turns and geometries in advance. You'd dig it.
@@NightsAroundaTable I really enjoyed it myself, but unfortunately my mother and wife found it a bit complex. They are not used to heavy games and having so many things to compute per turn. By the end, though, my mother was starting to get into it. We'll see how things go on round 2 if I can convince them to play again!
@@NightsAroundaTable Indeed! I know I should start with lighter games, but most of the games I'm interested in are pretty heavy. I have introduced a few simpler ones too (Jaipur, Honshu, QE). We're playing Brass Lancashire now and she seems to be grasping it pretty well. And she's willing to play FCM again. Unfortunately my wife is less willing!
WONDERFUL video, Ryan! I wish it came to BGA, I can't see myself playing it on a real table: too much table space, setup/teardown, lengthy rules explanation, price etc (similar to Through the Ages, I only play that through BGA). But your video has made me want to play it... I love cut-throat strategy games! Regards, Salman
Thanks! It's part of an upcoming Bits, Please! episode, but i went and got myself lost in a few really ambitious upgrades for the game, which has pushed the episode out considerably. But it's gonna be a good one!
It's still in the works! i got myself embroiled in something really complicated (but really cool) for it, and stalled out when it didn't work quite perfectly.
0:10 It isn't deck building, though. You never shuffle. Your "hand" isn't even secret, you lay most of your cards on the table every round. "Tableau building," "hand building," "pool building" are all terms that would work. I know you have complained about this before, but it is also helpful if words mean things. The key component of a "deck" is that you are drawing randomly from it. I wouldn't mind if someone called Quacks of Quedlinburg or Orleans a "deck builder" because, even though they are technically cardboard or wooden pieces, you are randomizing them. But you never randomize your cards in FCM or Concordia or any other "hand / pool / tableau builder." Just because the things you are taking are cards doesn't make it a "deck builder." Would you consider St Petersburg a deck builder? Colloretto? No Thanks? Collecting cards is not "deck building." I wouldn't wince at this if you were a random person in a game store. But you are a reviewer. You could at least try to use terminology in a way that makes sense.
Hasn’t been made yet. i was working on these awesome little restaurant models for the game, which i was going to feature in the episode, and then they went and released that Kickstarter campaign…
This is an awesome explanation of the game! One question: What is “grab assing”? It seems you’ve traded one euphemism (beaching) for another and I’m not exactly sure what either means. It sounds as if it means employees grabbing each other’s asses which doesn’t make sense to me. However, I think it’s an implication that they are “doing nothing” or “being unproductive”. Is that correct?
I already know how to play this game, but I'm going to watch this for your humor :)
i added some jokes just for you.
Wow, nice!! Reminds that this game is actually not difficult in terms of teaching/learning rules but when it starts...my brain simply melts
The rulebook could use more picture examples, for sure.
Okay... that "bits please" call out made me laugh.

Great, complete, comprehensive guide! Well done Ryan!
