So maybe it is more intentional then I initially make it out to be edit: Welp, I was wrong about there only being 2 instances of this effect, which I honestly can't believe I missed. Portions of Shaded Castle, notably on the inner layer of it's swamp, also slow the player using the same Speffect, 4101. Can also confirm that NG+ removes this effect Similar with a particular cave in Caelid, hilariously named Abandoned Cave, which works the exact same way as the Haligtree swamp. I'm asking here because I believe I have the highest chance of getting a response. I saw your vid "Mechanics You Didn't Know Were Possible in Elden Ring's DLC" @1:32 (YT shadowbans all comments with links in them so I can't post it directly) and tried dodging Messmer's fireball the same way, but when I got him to infinitely repeat the move it felt very inconsistent except when I raised the game's speed to 150% where it started getting way more consistent and then at 200% where it was very similar to 100%. Could you look into how the move works perhaps or some way to make dodging it like that consistent?
This is unrelated but I want to point out how Rellana's carian sovereignty has a (massive) double hitbox which makes it (almost) impossible to avoid it without rolling or without outspacing it and praying to God you were far enough for her to miss the swing. If she had just one hitbox or if it was jumpable I feel like it would definitely be doable.
I may be wrong about this and Ira not too important in the grand scheme of things but doesn’t the swamp in the shaded castle also slow down the player at some points?

In Liurnia? I know Stillwater Cave has a swamp-like interior, but it doesn't slow. The only other one that I can think of is underneath Moonlight Altar to the west, where the Omenkiller boss is, but that also doesn't slow
Remember the cave in caelid over the side of a cliff behind a tree branch? The cave that has the venomous fang and serpent bow. That also slows you down when you move through it I believe.

Really good video! I knew about these NG+ changes way back, and they are so relieving, wouldn't wanna cross most of those lava & Aeonian swamp areas walking & heavy rolling again, it is what has been bothering me in every DS3 NG+ cycle I go through, it's quite a good change.
I do wish their next games can capitalize off the NG+ changes of Dark Souls 2 and Armored Core 6, though it makes sense that due to the sheer size and scope of Elden Ring that would be easier said than done. Also, from what I've heard the DLC has its own NG+ cycle after you beat it, but I haven't seen much information on it.
Well, sort of. The NG cycle in the DLC is triggered after defeating Consort, but doesn’t have any effect until after you trigger the normal NG cycle and reset the world. Once that’s done (and Consort defeated in the prev playthrough) the DLC will be in NG+, with slightly boosted stats and scaling. This can only happen once, unlike normal NG+, which can increase a total of 7 times; and acts as a kinda extra NG level exclusively for the DLC

If I then beat the DLC as well as the base game, the base game would be NG+7 still, but the DLC would basically be at NG+8, and if I beat the DLC sooner maybe the base game would be at NG+4, but the DLC NG+5. It's like an extra level exclusively for the DLC, but there's only 1, and otherwise it scales with regular NG
That would be a great free "DLC" update to Elden Ring: Add bonfire ascetics, NG+ npv invaders, NG+ item drops, etc. DS2's system was so good, I can't wrap my head around why they dropped it. You can either replay the entire game with new elements, or just replay certain areas you particularly liked, or just progress specific areas for certain items. ER NG+ just feels pointless to me. The novelty of being able to redo the first few areas with maxed out weapons wears off pretty quickly.

this is wild because i actually would’ve never stumbled upon this naturally. i have 500+ hours between 3 characters that have all gone through multiple variations of ng+ cycles. i never go back to mt.gelmir, rykard’s whole legacy dungeon, or any caves and catacombs past the first ng cycle. however, i do always go kick melania’s ass in ng+, i just always instinctively have a dagger equipped as soon as i get to the haligtree just to bloodhound’s step through that swamp

what happens if say an invader whos in base new game invades a player whos in new game +1? Do both players not get slowed due to the hosts world being in ng+1? does the invader get slowed because his character isnt in new game +1 while the host runs through at normal speed?
The biggest crime of ng+ was increasing boss poise. Completely ruins the flow of the fight and pretty much mskes it so you get at most 1 stagger even with a stagger dedicated build

Yeah, but you need to do way more stance damage to bosses to break their stance. So any other benefits to playing on NG+ and beyond other than the rot swamps don't slow you down anymore? Yes you keep all of your levels and gear and you can flex that you beat the game on NG+69 or whatever, but does it worth it in a sense that you get more benefits like this or is this the only one?

My favorite thing in the higher cycles is to bring summons to the mimic tear fight and see who can defeat my NG+7 scaled version of myself

Spoiler: the boss version always win the fight if you gave them full potential of your build.
Pro tip when going into the fight, equip less upgraded weapons and catalysts so it doesn’t absolutely destroy the summon

This makes NG+ invaders in NG terrifying!
After over 3000 hours in the game, I still to this day have never bothered with NG+ and instead opt to do new playthroughs with different builds.

I find it rather unlikely they would leave Limgrave a braindead area in NG+, but then alter a 30s long section of the game.
I was summoned by NG host and forgot how enemies can gank me In these slow places. Now I keep Bloodhoud step on a dagger just for these occasions 😊
