Thanks for the video. Adding to the point of environment, i found out that what often stresses me out about working is just the solitude of it - just sitting alone in my room barely works for me except right before i have to meet a deadline. So i try to go to cafés, libraries, parks etc., oftentimes moving several times in a study session. Observing how much physical activity/rest i need and putting that practice in as much as i can helps. And just studying quietly with another person/group has been really motivating. Good luck to everyone! Be kind to yourselves.
Hi Nikola, thank you so much for sharing I really appreciate it :) I 100% agree, the right environment is important in ALL aspects and it is great that you are aware of what works for you and what does not and adapt accordingly! As for me I also struggle to work alone and I enjoy some “passive companionship” but when I really need to get focused work done I also need solitude.
i used to think i had executive dysfunction but turns out i'm just incredibly lazy. i think it comes down to the fact that i had natural smarts so i didn't need to work hard (or at all) to succeed at school. now that i'm in senior year things are significantly more difficult and i find consistent work very challenging. hard work is a new concept to me so yeah just trying not to be discouraged by mediocre results :/
I can understand you 100%. In school I also performed relatively well for the amount of work I put in. Especially when it came to the interesting subjects (for me) like history, geography and languages, but also going towards graduation, I really struggled with subjects like physics and maths as you really have to put the time in to practice. About the mediocre results: Yeah I get you, it is a let down especially if you then did study for the subject and it is still a mediocre result. What I can recommend here is to see it as a chance to grow your personality. At the end of the day being able to endure failure WILL give you mental strength if you are able to take it in your stride. Looking back to my school time I can tell you for sure, that it is not only the subjects themselves that you learn about but you are also developing life skills. Try and focus on this instead. Decide that you will use this as a chance to become a strong person who can deal with hardship and who keeps on going despite being let down again and again by mediocre results. At the end of the day discipline does not mean always achieving top results but to keep going even if you do not (despite having put work in). It is not always about the grades but also the life skills we develop. Just please do not make the mistake to let the mediocre results stop you, I did this and looking back it was huge mistake, because by that I stopped taking responsibility and really felt like a victim of my own life. It is not worthwhile.
I used to think that I was just lazy. Then I became "disciplined". But only by forbidding myself to do so much, which somehow made me unhappy. I sat in front of tasks for so long and tried to force myself to do them. I was "disciplined", but definitely not effective. I always wanted to start so many things but didn't do them because I had to do something else. All the tips and tricks worked for me for a while until I stopped doing them. The only constant was the change. I used a lot of calendars for ages to try, but at some point I just stopped using them... until I came across bullet journalling. But even there the spreads change every few weeks. Maybe the answer lies in ADHD. If it just doesn't work for you in the long term, or you're constantly starting things but not finishing them, read up on the subject. And just because you're successful doesn't rule you out. I know some people who are even doing a Phd.
Hi there thank you for your comment 🥰 I completely get you! I think what we have to keep in mind is that we cannot actually to so many things at the same time. I think one can get easily burned-out from trying to to be productive each day every day. I also think we are developing in our discipline and to remain constant forever is next to impossible, as you said, the only constant in life is change. ADHD, surely makes everything more difficult as it influences your ability to focus! I will definitely research it! All the best for you and thanks again 🩵
hello Rica!!! great video right now i am in my high school last year this really inspires me i really don't have any direction now I didn't know why i am being so half lazy i am doing things but half way and somethings are just not good at last as u said i want to be responsible i will try to be disciplined idk why it never worked out and cant even follow my routine plss advice smtg so i am ace high school ps : my grades are ups and down its good in some test in some its bad
Hello dear! First of all, thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it! 😍 So as for my tips: Trust me I know exactly how you feel, my grades where like yours sometimes good sometimes bad and it was because I did not put the work in. If I am thinking back, I think I had come to terms with "not being high performer" and I did not even believe I could do much better than I did. So if this is the same for you, let me tell you one thing: it is not true! It all comes down to the discipline and you can imagine discipline like a muscle which you have to grow. Do not set yourself wrong expectations of getting up tomorrow and from then on be disciplined. Maybe instead of acing high school, first set yourself the goal to reach good stable grades. Then think about what the minimum effort would be that you have to put in, maybe it is being more attentive at school in the first place and then maybe 45 min of revision at home (this might require some trial and error). Then set yourself the goal to attain this minimum required effort for a set amount of time (7 days), makes it easier for the brain to stick to it. It would also be helpful to visualise your progress. IMPORTANT: use the rest of the time however you want, it is important to make your process to discipline fun in order to make yourself stick to it, so when the 45 min of revision is over, it's time to chill :D Also remember that the fewest people probably enjoy sitting and studying the entire afternoon long, so do not feel like a failure for feeling like this. I also do not think that it is realistic to stay concentrated for that long. Hence why it is important to be smart about your study time, use it wisely and in a focused way and you will have more free time at the end of the day! I hope this helps a bit :)
@@rica_doe yeahh ur absolutely right things are very similar in my case also tq so much for the advices i will follow ur guidance and change some habits slowly my big maths exam coming up i will try this and give my 1000 percent thanks for the reply its means a lot xoxo
Helloooo :) Well I had dreams I wanted to achieve and I felt like it was impossible to get there. I was reflecting on why I felt like this and came to the conclusion, that I was focussed too much on hunting down the instant gratification instead of putting in the work to reach my dreams. My motivation is actually the hard work itself, it is very rewarding because it makes the leisure time so much more enjoyable for me. And it really makes me feel like I have more control over my fate (we never have 100% control over our lives but we are able to control how we face it). For me being able to overcome myself and be disciplined itself is a reward because from my past I know how I struggled without it. Does this answer your question? 😊
I'm sorry I don't see the connection? It is possible to be disciplined yet still be lazy, correct? I think your title should read: "From extremely lazy to PRODUCTIVE." Discipline is defined as being in control while productive means "active" or "laborious".
Hey there, thank you for your honest feedback I appreciate it :)! In my opinion discipline is like a muscle that needs to be trained. Discipline describes the ability to remain focused on what you want to achieve in the future (delayed gratification) instead of giving in to the instant gratification of the present moment. In that case yeah, discipline means being in control of oneselves desires. I suppose productivity sort of comes with discipline. I have to overcome myself every single day before I am working out, because most of the time, I would prefer just staying in bed a bit longer or relaxing & watching youtube :), once I finished my workout, I was also productive because I made use of my time efficiently. About being disciplined and lazy at the same time: In my opinion both laziness and disciplined can be time bound, I can choose Sunday as my lazy day and the rest of the week I am making sure to stick to my plan. Also I think there ist different phases in life in which we are more or less disciplined. But obviously this is my personal view on it, maybe I also oversaw something. Feel free to add your view as well :)
