As someone learning French, I encounter difficulties, but your advice is motivating. I recently learned about Immersive Translate and intend to give it a try to improve my progress.
Awesome video! As a Brasilian also on IT, speaking english on a daily basis, I can relate. I'm now learning French and I can understand a lot, considering how much I studied, but I'm far from being able to express myslef in that language. Something that really helps me a lot on aquiring vocab improve listening are some of these online radio apps. You can choose a radio from a country that speaks the language you are learning and have a good taste of common conversations and immerse youself into the culture.
Native English speaker here. Firstly, your English is fantastic! Secondly, I think this video has great tips for learning any language. I'm going to apply these tips to my Japanese studies!
Learning English in a class room in Germany wasn't able to cut it for me either, even though we had, at least for some time along the way, one of the best possible teachers. What they did was basically creating this environment, where we were forced, at least to some degree, to converse in English before we could say in German what we really wanted to say in case the conversation wasn't going anywhere. And I never forgot what they mentioned at some point: in order for you to being able to speak a language you have to be able to think in that very same language. Whenever you find yourselves translating in your head, this tells you you're not ready yet. I started consuming content in English at a very young age as I was super interesting in everything concerning IT, be it the hardware, software, video games... I played a lot online very soon and met English native speakers with whom I conversed and as we were playing together as a team, this created the necessity for being well understood in order to work effectively as a team. Then I also started to watch my favorite series all in English and soon I wouldn't even watch series, movies or playing games in German anymore. English got the standard for basically everything. Yet sometimes, even nowadays, I find myself in one or the other situation, when conversing with others in English, that I'm lacking a word or the other, but this mainly comes from me really trying to get diverse, using words one doesn't hear all too often. So basically what I've learned was, exposure to the language being spoken is the first crucial step. Second you have to really try and imitate what you hear as much as possible. I would always try and mimic the exact pronunciation of my favorite speakers in media for example. And then at some point you really have to create situations where your only possibility of being understood, is to actively use the language in conversation. Ideally with a native speaker. And yes, motivate them to correct you. Don't let anything slip. The more often you use something incorrectly the more your brain feels like this is the natural way to go.
Reading helps a whole heap. I reat The Hobbit in Spanish, then Harry Potter 1 and my spanish improved noticably in comfort and fluidity. Since then I've read "the curious case of benjamin button, LOTR 1 and 2 and am now on the 3rd book as well as 007 Casino Royale. I was speaking to my inlaws from Guatemala and they actually said I speak perfect spanish. Not that that is true just yet but I'm probably around a c1 in cefr. I see books as the cement for the pebbles of vocabulary and grammar. Thanks for the recommendation of HelloTalk. I'd like to learn Italian, German and French and then I think I'd be done with my language journey. Cheers!
Well done! I also think reading helped me a great deal lately with my Portuguese. In the beginning I read simple stuff like Ollie Richard’s “Short Stories in Brazilian Portuguese” and now I have moved on to Agatha Christie novels. It is challenging but really worth while for me too!

To be fluent in English is easy peasy, now let's have a conversation if you want to be proficient in this language. Many mistake this concept. That is, the first step is to be fluent and the next one is to be proficient, where you will polish your English by reducing mistakes and reach a high level of vocabulary that will make understand advanced concepts.
great! your english is great. i want to learn deutsch. i'm already fluent in english. my fisrt language is spanich since i'm from mexico. but now i want to learn deutsh and i'd love to speak it fluently. but i don't know where to start in this language. any advise ?
Probably you should start learning the basics with some language learning app such as busuu or do a German course somewhere and then try apply it as soon as possible 😊
Because your problem is “the connect speech” native speakers usually say things together, non native speakers do thinks slowly, because we unconsciously think we need to be understood, then most of us speak slowly.

The best way to learn is to teach. Try to teach me German and English and then learn to discover how you can learn. You should try this method.

You have to practice listening
make sure to listen to a lot of native podcasts and series then, you will see, it will really help with understanding!

How to be fluent in English?
Answer: BE GERMAN
I see… so are all Germans fluent in English then 🤔?
I mean it's a quite common stereotype associated with Germans and Swedes😅
