Initially the axle load was expected to be a light 18 tonnes (17.7 long tons; 19.8 short tons) and the power at ~2,500 kW (3,400 hp).[4] In practice, the German locomotives had an axle load of 21 tonnes (20.7 long tons; 23.1 short tons) (which is normal for this type of diesel locomotive).
General Electric supplied diesel engines and electrical transmission system (which used IGBT-based inverters driving AC traction motors). The rest of the locomotive was built by AdTranz in Kassel.
For the Pakistani export models a 16-cylinder engine was used.
Bombardier took over AdTranz in 2001, subsequently the Blue Tiger locomotive was shown at InnoTrans in 2002[5] with a view to European orders. The German production models had a mass of 126 tonnes (124.0 long tons; 138.9 short tons) (axle load 21 tonnes or 20.7 long tons or 23.1 short tons) and an engine power of 2,430 kW (3,260 hp).
As of 2009, the class is no longer listed as a production model by Bombardier; GE also lists the family as a former production type.[6] For the European market, Bombardier produces the less powerful diesel variants of the TRAXX family, whilst GE offers variants of its Evolution series for export.
It’s a great loco. I have one and am considering getting another. I saw this go past my base in Germany in the early 2000s.
Hi Jim, this blue tiger model is my dream. For some reason I was sure that the length was the same as 66. I will wait for a new video on installing the chip. It is interesting to see what is inside the locative itself.

Most of us is telling ourself to stop buying but when something comes buy and we are not able to refrain from just buying another one and telling ourself after this I will stop buying.

I did not know Mehano made a locomotive in the Traxx family. Nice little find and I'm looking forward to the DCC fitted locomotive upon completion. Great video, Jersey Bill
Just completed the dcc fitout and some how an axel had slightly jumped out of gearing so I've had to completely strip back and take apart the bogie to resolve the axel that was not moveing correctly..🤔

Nice find Jim. The light is dim for this version have been trting to modify it with LED light. The newer version has better lighting and they are much brighter.

Nice set 👍I've got a blue tiger with sound (no wagons☹️) but it is years old and could really do with a new sound chip but it works so it is going to have to wait.😁

If you wish to add to your loco collection I would suggest looking at Kombi Models Ho scale Voith MAXIMA 40 CC. I have it in HB Wiebe colours but there are other paint jobs (Go's with the TRIX V320 also in HB Wiebe colours). There is a SBB option, ordered but never delivered to SBB.

Story of my life Jim, I’ve deleted my eBay and now only use my other half’s to stop my crazy spending. It’s not changed 🤣🤣 only difference is I’m spending my actual money and not banging it on paypal credit.
Problem with this game and especially HO is you can’t say no when something comes up as you may not see it again 😂

I do sell items here and there , like you say if you spot something you know is rare and if it's at a good price I just pull the trigger on the mouse and most of the time I win the auction and then the money has to come from somewhere to feed my addiction 😅

No I just updated the track voltage to 18volts it runs faster but still not fast enough.
The original go fast project was abandoned as it would of caused other problems to the model.
I would like to install coreless motors but non are available for the Marklin Tgv at the moment.
