    Couple of thoughts:
    1. You will find mapping the AF-ON button to focus tracking is MUCH faster than a joystick for selecting your focus subject.
    2. Flexible ISO - At the core it just guarantees that you will shoot at iso 800 or iso 2500. Set your Auto iso to 800 to 2500, and correct in post. Otherwise most amatuers won't need/use Flexible ISO.
    3. The A6700 is FASTER than the A7RV when it comes to shooting multiple stills 11fps vs 8fps, and it has a HUGE buffer.
    4. Shooting in the smaller RAW size is not the same as shooting in apsc mode. You will still have the FF depth of field, but not the crop.
    5. The fx30 is a video camera, and doesn't have a mechanical shutter like a6700. That's the trade off for Flexible ISO.
    Spend a little more time with the a6700. The only thing you will miss from the A7rx cameras is the MP, the pixel shift, EVF/Screen resolution/size and some of the transfer features like FTP. Otherwise you will need a specific requirement to go to any other camera in the Sony system.

      Thank you for the detailed comment! Focus then recompose is personal preference. I prefer to compose, then focus so a joystick works better for me. My experience sticking to the two base ISO's - 800 and 2500 - is that it's very difficult in post to even out the exposure. I tried Cine EI on my FX3 and it was a bit of a disaster. I knew someone was going to call me out the comment about M RAW being a downsampled version of the FF image and not the same as crop mode. 🤣 The idea is that the resultant image dimensions are the same, with APS-C mode have more DOF.
      I do like the A6700, just deciding if the trade-offs are worth it. And for the price I paid ($1,100 open box @ Best Buy) it's a solid deal. If I keep it, I will probably be able to sell it for ~$800 after using it for 2 years. Not a bad buy by any stretch.

      @@RandumbTech I keep debating picking up the A7CR (after coming from the a7c) but my a6700 has been flawless. After using the A7CR for a moment, I realized I like the control setup better, (prefer the extra dial to the extra button), the file sharing options, and the pixel shift, but I would miss 4k120 and the 11fps.
      Sony needs an A1C with the A7Rv screen and Compact FA slot. Keep the 8k as that's what I really wanted with the A7CR (61MP and 8k video).
      Thank for sharing your videos, I always get good ideas from them.

      @@soholingoI’m leaning more toward A7CR myself. I was out shooting with the 6700 today and not having the 4th dial is actually a bigger deal than no joystick. Ughhh, but the price 😮…

    Hello! I currently have a Lumix G7. ive had this camera for manyyyyyyy years now. Im looking to upgrade to a new camera. Mainly for Music videos, cinematography, short films. But i also want that super crisp photography side as well. I was looking at the sony A 7RV but that has a pretty penny on it. then i discovered the A6700. Now im torn.

      Since you are shooting mostly video, the A6700 is going to be the best camera for your needs. Uncropped 4k/60p is HUGE in real world shooting. The A7RV pixel bins in 4K/30 and the quality suffers. The ONLY thing I did not like about the A6700 is that they did not include Flexible Exposure Mode when shooting video. I use that feature with all of my other cameras and it works really really well for hybrid shooters. Good luck!

      @@RandumbTech would you recommend this camera for street photography? since it is considered a great hybrid camera as well?

    • @RandumbTech
      @RandumbTech  2 месяца назад

      Yes, the A6700 is excellent for street photography. Since it's APS-C, it has smaller lenses as well making it even more discreet.

    The 6700 is a beast. I was looking for a backup, travel and video camera and decided on the A7Cii.

      The A7Cii is a great choice! Not giving the A6700 flexible exposure mode is a little silly. And since that's how I shoot, it's a non-starter for me.

    Great video. Compare to a7c2 in 4k60 (which has APSC crop ), any difference in terms of quality? Thanks

    • @soholingo
      @soholingo 9 месяцев назад +1

      I haven't seen the difference. They are both crop mode and captured from a 6k frame, so both are really sharp and clean.

      @RandumbTech  9 месяцев назад +1

      I have an A7iv (which has same sensor as A7Cii) and I don't see any meaningful difference in quality between 4k30 vs 4k60. The biggest difference is in DOF and "full frame look" when shooting full uncropped full width of the sensor.

      For stills, it's a tough sell. But for video, I absolutely LOVE the results I'm getting from my FX30. I ended up returning the A6700 - it didn't inspire me to pick it up and shoot with it. It's a fine camera, but since I have other options available that are better cameras, it made no sense to keep it.
